Already have worries about the money grab with Year 2
So...
I'm sitting here watching the Twitch stream for the Year 2 reveal of Destiny 2, and I was like... Soooo freaking excited. Sooooo excited all the way through the vid doc and even into the beginning of the actual live stream, but then they introduced this thing called the Annual Pass.
I could be overreacting, and that's part of the reason I'm making this post, but it really seems like the Annual Pass is just a new way for Bungie to content block the community and seep you dry of money without actually really giving you any new REAL content.
So, is the Annual Pass like the DLC bundle you bought when you first purchased the game, except for the next year of coming DLC's? Or is the Annual Pass a new pay wall that essentially brings a pay-to-win experience into Destiny? The way they talked about it on stream made it seem like the later. Like a way for Bungie to stay afloat because they've been taking hits in their revenue because Destiny 2 and it's subsequent DLC's really didn't hit the mark. If that is the case, I don't think the community should be held accountable for that loss and be responsible for recouping it.
So please please please tell me I'm wrong, and teach me a little more about what's really going on.
Also, can I get your opinions? I'm interested to hear about everyone's impressions on this.

2 RepliesYou can look up the product description and to summarize it basically adds more loot, new activities, and new lore. Their will be no campaign, and most likely no raid as they only mention new game challenges which could mean anything and i doubt it will be a raid for 10$. So I basically told you everything you need to know and as an example its like an overwatch update but its not free (10$ each season).

Its another Season Pass. But they will include things that where originally free and not attached to season pass. Such as the dawning. DLCs arent selling well so they are taking things from the game and stuffing them in the Annual Pass to make it more appealing. Basically some activities will be removed from the game, it doesnt matter if you have CoO, Warmind or Forfvcksaken. Things like sparrow racing will be there for sure.

I mean, AP sounds like it’s going to lock people out of events like the giving and SRL so I’m not really to muffed about it, unless there is a sweet race suit again, then I’ll buy that AP in a heartbeat

Pay-to-win. More like pay-to-play. The people that create games need to eat too. They have hundreds of developer’s working on this game to make it what we want it to be. And if it’s good I will make sure to give them my hard earned money for it and tip them too with a little eververse love. Sorry America likes it’s Capitalism.

1 ReplyI didn’t buy any of the year 1 DLC because it looked like crap and it was, this rolls around and I get so hyped for it, but then I find out that in order to play it I have to purchase the previous DLC’s that sucked and then this one, plus an annual pass to keep things relevant? Thats too much money, just let me buy the standalone Forsaken DLC, and then I’ll at least be semi-content.

There has been no such thing as pay-2-win in Destiny's history. It's more of a pay-2-play model. You are paying for new content and the ability to play the new content with other people who have the new content. None of the gear, items and destinations from expansions can impact the base game because you will not be paired up against players that have access to it. That said, the fact that you still need CoO and Warmind to play Forsaken means that a lot of players who did not want to pay for that content now HAVE to in order to own the new stuff. Bit of a low blow after making almost everyone look up with some level of excitement.

2 RepliesIt’s a work around to stop people buying 1 dlc but not the other, like buying Warmind but not Osiris so your locked from certain content but not others. So you can buy foresaken then if you buy the annual pass you get all dlc content in year 2, if you don’t buy the pass you have to wait till year 3

One of the dlc drops from the pass is called “black armory” I believe. I bet it’ll just be 1 mission where you get an exotic and they add 10 more copy and paste weapons to the weapon count 👍

1 ReplyI think they need to reveal more about the Annual Pass and what it contains, the way it sounded was 3 mini dlcs, except without their own storylines and cutscenes. I'm not really sure how i feel about it honestly, although saying that i'm not sure house of wolves had cutscenes, so i'd be happy if it's just like 3 mini expansions featuring missions like that. I've said before that they should really try other things as microtransactions rather than in game items. Additional character slots and alternate voice packs for guardians (assuming they give our guardians their voice back) would be great optional extras.

... If the annual pass either A) Doesnt include every expansion at a reduced price. B) Doesnt replace expansion cost/loot boxes. If it comes alongside loot boxes and expansion costs....

The monetary schemes are already happening. They PURPOSELY made D2 vanilla and the previous DLCs shit so that people who were displeased would buy the expansions. We were the pawns and we got played HARD. I'm not falling for it Bungie! FㅤUCK YOU!

No there is no "pay to win aspect" its basically a DLC without the patrol zone and the campaign tied to it like Warmind or Curse of Osiris. You still get raid lairs, you still get new strike, you get new seasonal vendor refreshes with their rewards, and new exotics added to the game.

The advertisement of the game is top notch, but it doesn't represent the game.

Like how over watch may update for a new story content for however long, introducing maps and stories. They did it with the SRL racing in destiny 1 i was hoping they do something like that, an update the game with new stories, like that doesn't need to be behind a paywall. If exceptional content is behind it then , that's a red flag. I probably wouldn't mind paying for this IF bungie created every expansion like an actual EXPANSION. Taken king, and i'll even say this Forsaken expansion sound like true honest to god expansions. Every thing they pump out needs to meet the Taken standard or beyond for me to consider an annual pass.

Seems that they are continuing collections and stuff, rather than cool and unique shit thats fun to play and cool spaces to explore and have fun in. The prominance and the time spent explaining Annual Pass was a red flag for me. oooooooOOOOOO BEEP, BEEP,BEEP Thats how my bullshit detector went
