I find myself generally not enjoying gaming lately. I have so many games to play, and many I've not finished. Yet I find myself bored and can't bring myself to play them.
Am I bored of gaming in general? Or just not interested in the current games lately? I'm unsure. I'll start playing something and within an hour I'm bored.
My question to you is this, how do you deal with gaming fatigue?

Work. Working long hours will make you appreciate any game especially.
-
Alcohol, drugs and hookers usualy do the trick for me. But for regular people like you working out and watching movies and series or reading might also work.
-
My issue was finally realizing that even though they are all different, nearly every damn game I have boils down to just shooting. I've completely stopped playing anything that makes it mandatory to shoot stuff.

I feel the same way you do. I have many great games, i just never took the time to progress in them or even finish them like Dragon Age Inquisition. I got fairly far and just stopped.
-
Read books and/or watch play throughs of games I don't intend to buy that interest me.
-
Just not play I guess.

About twice a year I stop playing for a few weeks due to fatigue. I'll just invest the free time in another hobby (usually rock climbing), or pick up some extra shifts at work. Last one for me was September-ish and I just watched a shit ton of videos on YouTube. Mostly cooking tutorials so that I had a few new tricks to rely on for meal prep. The games will be there when you get back, and they are meant to be enjoyable, so if you aren't enjoying playing them, then spend your time doing something else.

1 ReplyIt sounds like you aren’t committing enough depth to any one game. Treasure isn’t found across the beach, amidst the vendors, food or locale. It’s buried deep, in one spot, underground. I would advise you to find a game that challenges you, and isn’t easy to master. For me, it’s Rocket League. For others, maybe it’s Dark Souls or Super Meat Boy. Point is, find something you can sink your teeth into, so that you may enjoy the rewards of the succulent meat.

Used to find other stuff to do like reading, tv, seeing friends and the like. I get so little tome to play nowadays I binge for like 6 hours straight.

i've found that myself, when i'm on my own i can't get interested in playing games and just do daily activities and challenges on my favourite games just so i don't forget the controls then normally go and do something else, however when i'm playing with people in the party, not necessarily even in my game, i enjoy myself much more and when we do play together we come up with fun things to do instead of just playing the normal way for example on rainbow 6 we have a hide and seek playlist for 6 people and when we do normal matches we do things like max aggression or recruit only, so i guess my solution for gaming fatigue is doing things out of the ordinary in the games i play

I find myself in the same boat. I blame growing up as one of the factors for my unsatisfied experience while gaming. That's just life though. The only game that I actually enjoy right now is Rainbow Six Siege with my 4-5 other buddies. And for a single player game almost any Bethesda game.

When I had that on ps4 I actually started to get into some pc gaming and generally when I’m bored of one I switch to the other

1 ReplyI always go back to indies. Simple, quick narratives, short completion. After awhile I begin to thirst for a more engaging experience.

Binge a few seasons of a show on netflix

It sucks to be like this in the dead of winter (unless you live in Australia). I have a small wood shop in my basement. Every once in awhile I'll make saw dust. If I don't feel like doing that, then its binge watching Netflix. There is way more to do in the summer so that's not a problem then. That's about the time I burn out on gaming.

I recommend playing something with a friend. Then try to do the craziest strategy you can think of that has a chance of working. I know that is how a lot of big gaming channels keep themselves from getting bored with a game. Look at any big gaming channel that focuses on multiplayer games. They ALWAYS do challenges to keep themselves entertained. If you win, you feel skilled. If you lose, you can just laugh it off because you were doing a terrible strategy. Then playing with a friend always makes anything more fun. You have someone to share your excitement with, and who can share excitement with you. One game I would recommend trying for this is "Duck Game" by Adult Swim. It is insanely fun and no matter how you die in it, it will feel amazing. This is an actual review for the game: “Someone killed me and threw my body at another player, knocking him off the edge and killing him. He then proceeded to quack until the next level loaded.”

I've started feeling this "fatigue" a while ago and I kinda need a fix to it too...

I've been bored of games for years. I just play whenever I find something new and different. A friend of mine has been getting me to try her games and has been buying me a few new ones lately. I admire her persistence but so far I've only found one I like.

Workout is a way

I watch Netflix or YouTube, or do something outside my dark hole of sorrow.

I'm in the same boat, bought assassin creed origin, turned it of after 5 minutes, downloaded the free psn games, can't be bothered to play them. Keep looking at the calendar to see when there's something I want, and it's looking like spring time, yet I sit here board stiff, so for now I'm just binge watching Netflix.

Edited by ShmeeGrim: 1/9/2018 10:41:34 PMI stop playing and do other things until I feel like playing again. It sucks, but you get over it eventually.

If you want to keep gaming but don't like the current ones, I'd recommend a Switch. The Nintendo games practically reinvent the Genres they're in. Plus there are indies.

Take a break, or get a new game. You could binge watch a TV series, anime, or a bunch of movies. Something that’ll keep you occupied long enough that when you go back to games things feel fresh again. If you don’t have anything to watch, you could watch Flip Flappers! Best anime! You could also read a book, or two, same effect. Or you could try a different hobby. Some hobbies, like writing, are difficult to do for long periods of time, though, but you can always try something new, if that’s the case. I’m sadly not much of a reader, so I can’t recommend much. I do love Lovecraft though! If you’re able, try to branch out with what games you’re playing. Too much of any genre will wear you down, so trying something you usually wouldn’t can be a breath of fresh air sometimes, and it can help expand your interests! I’d recommend Steven Universe: Attack of the Light. It’s a really good game most people look over because of the Steven Universe title.

1 ReplyGet another hobby. As someone who is generally unimpressed, unamused, uninterested, in the vast majority of games that have been coming out (seriously i think most of y'all have low standards and are too generous with your games), i feel you just need another hobby aside from games. I've been working out more, started painting a little bit, working more, abd even started righting some. So I'm occupied with other things aside from games. If something interesting actually comes out I'll get it, judge it based mostly off what i don't like, and probably enjoy it anyway. Cause -blam!- reviews and the opinions of people i don't personally talk to.
