Destiny 2 now feels barren and boring. How the HELL did you let this happen?

Don't forget to bump, TY. Gaining momentum. All we have is a mini raid and the same 3 adventures with only 1 new public event. I refuse to grind through the same public events for nominally novel repaints of weapons. This is the saddest , most anemic DLC to date. Talk about a major letdown. I miss powerful D1 weapons and environments like POE or the court. There's just nothing truly new here to do. It's boring and it sucks. I give Bungie credit where it's due, but THIS, combined with getting caught nerfing XP, "fixing it", and then doubling XP needed was a true dirt bag slight of hand. If this is what you guys are now I may not be buying anymore. At this point I may play for some higher engrams after reset each week at best (didn't happen this week and not seeing further enthusiasm). Alot of people are bummed THIS is all we have to chew on all winter and it already looks bleak only a week out. The karma BS meter needs to be fed and you guys are gonna feel this one.

  • Certainly several giant step back. This is worse than D1 vanilla. Definitively...and that's my 4000+ hours of D1 from beta to finish talking. I'm chronically ill btw

    • Its what happens when you take a loot-based RPG....and force it to play with a gear syatem that was designed to create an e-sport ready PVP experience. The two are incompatible with one another, and Bungie stubbornly refuses to accept this fact. I think this happened because Bungie---probably wanting e-sport dollars like Blizzard and Overwatch----tried to walk away from the RPG nature of this game, and tried to craft one that was more of a shooter...and that the end-game wouldn't be a gear grind....but PVP INSTEAD. ....only to realize that most people play this game for its PVE...not its PVP. Oops. So what happened was---to optimize PVP balance-----all the power-progression in the game was stripped out of it. What minimal character skill tree there was in D1, was stripped to the absolute bare bones....and almost all player build choice was taken away. Then the perk systems for weapons and armor----which is where the power-progression was centered in D1----was stripped bare as well. Other than the one stat that affects mobility/resilience/recovery (whch are fixed ratios based on armor type and class), the only differences between one set of armor and any other are purel cosmetic. Even worse, the weapon system has been stripped down to basically only having ONE Perk to choose from...and those only make very modest changes to weapon base stats. Which is why all the weapons in the game have a bland sameness to them. Weapons design (former Sandbox lead) Jon Weisznewski basically stated bluntly in a Crucible Radio interview over the Thanksgiving weekend, that our Guardians were deliberately DPS-throttled, and our access to "powerful weapons" was deliberately limited. His rationalization (which is what it feels like) was that he felt this would not only "improve PVP balance, but would improve the whole game." [i] (How's that working out, Jon? Not so good, eh?)[/i] So they are essentially the same weapons with respect to damage output. The only differences are that they are "handcrafted" to fit particular play styles....and allow the player no ability to craft (or obtain) a weapon that stand out from any other. ...and all the weapons that DO have any sort of perks that make them stand our....have been turned into exotics. Which is why the exotics feel so bland too. THEY ARE BASICALLY D1 LEGENDARY WEAPONS.

    • Don't understand all the complaints. I wasn't happy so I stopped playing. It took me 3+ years to get the message, but once I realized Bungie couldn't deliver on the potential of this franchise, walking away was easy.

      • This is by far the worst dlc bungie has released for the destiny series so far. It just feels completely bare bones and half assed. Did they even put any effort into this at all? The new story missions are repetitive and were very predictable. The new patrol area on mercury is so small that it might as well not even exist. The new forge weapons aren’t worth the grind at all, none of them have been better than weapons I already had and they are way underpowered. Also the masterworks weapons suck too. They just add a tiny fraction to base stats of the weapon which really doesn’t make any noticeable difference. Yeah all in all this expansion was a major letdown.

          They built the game around PvP balance. That is the main reason why everything sucks. From the horrible weapon loadout to the weak characters, lame weapons, no machine guns, only 2 launchers with tracking, bare bones skill trees, team shooting PvP, and lack of an actual story or use of lore. They focused on PvP instead of hiring a competent writer who could take the tons of lore from the grimoire, and actually build an amazing game with it. They also could have hired some more voice actors, so our characters aren't awkward mute idiots. But they chose to focus on the worst and least played part of the game, so they could get money from Esports. Too bad PvP is the worst it's ever been, and pro players/streamers are abandoning it and playing Fortnite, and PubG instead. Looks like nobody wants to watch/play a slow, boring, 4v4, team shooting trash fire.

                • This game is basically a COD MMO. A bland, basic ass shooter with bland basic ass loot. Basic FPS shooters are becoming boring. Many ppl now enjoy different types of competitive games. Originality. This game has none. It offered nothing new from D1 and completely stripped everything down. Same subclasses. Same 4 planets set up but different locales. They copy and pasted the game but ripped everything out of it that was good. Bungie has no innovation.

                  • You pretty much only have 1 character. You paid for a game that you only played 1/3 of. It doesn't even sound like you've ever raided. If you don't like the grind, go play a different game.
