The nerf to the shoulder charge distance basically sums up how tone deaf they are. Destiny 2 feels so much slower, clunkier, and just overall weaker than Destiny 1 ever did. No movement, weak weapons, a terrible weapon system and just overall another half baked game that we are going to have to wait 3 years for something resembling the content that we should be getting with launch titles.
Does this impact the game a lot? no but it further cuts down on mobility in this game which is already a far cry from the ability to titan skate. That should have been embraced like rocket jumping was in quake or unreal as a cool, community found thing. Instead they nerf it, forcing us into this slow, plodding, boring way to play the game.
This update has no meaningful changes other than ways to get the static rolled gear faster, buy more cosmetic stuff, and still have no real depth to the progression systems or rankings 4 years later. It doenst address any of the major power feeling complaints that many people have, nor does it address this, as Sc Slayerage put it, suck ass weapon system.
Bungie is tone deaf with their patches and balance changes. They make content that lasts two weeks, roll in the money from idiots (i'm including myself in that) and then keep on making pretty looking content that lacks absolutely any depth. Make set loadouts for PVP that disable weapon perks, add random perks back, give us our movement back, and get rid of this suck ass weapon system

One PvP orientated YouTuber must have complained about it 😳

3 RepliesShoulder charge should be removed completely so we Titans can stop stressing over the nerfs. Replace shoulder charge with a squeaky duck toy sound and confetti.
-
4 RepliesGrrrrr, why does the tank class feel so clunky and slow 😡
if you want to feel powerful, there has to be someone that doesn't
-
People in d2 do feel powerful. It just isn't you because you are dying to them
-
8 RepliesIn Destiny 3 they will remove movement and the entire game will be played on rails. This will make frustrating things like acquiring skill a thing of the past
-
1 ReplyShoulder charge is now completely useless.

2 RepliesEdited by xXbrandaddyXx: 12/7/2017 4:01:03 PMI remember getting super pissed that Titans could use the move to out run a blade dancing Hunter. Then I realized Destiny is never going to be anything like Halo and found enjoyment in it. Now Bungie has just toned down the ridiculousness of it all and it's just space wizard CoD. :(

See, you guys are missing the big picture: They are nerfing it so they can turn it into an exotic! Don't you see? After they nerf a perk, they always make an exotic to counter it! Mk.44 stand asides in destiny 1, sunbreaker gauntlets, shinobu's vow and so on. New exotic in the next dlc Bois!!!

1 ReplyWarframe is free and powerful!!!

Agree entirely. This stuck out to me as a complete WTF change. I primarily use shoulder charge for mobility and was relying on it even more in D2 thanks to them removing skating as a means of getting around quickly. I haven't seen a single complaint about it since the beginning of D2, but somehow rather than add more mobility options to give Warlocks and Hunters a similar option Bungie felt the need to make us even slower and less powerful than we already were. I keep looking at other developers with large player communities and can't help but notice the stark contrast between how they monitor and incorporate community feedback compared to Bungie. Since I stopped playing D2 a month ago I've mostly been alternating between Fortnite for PvP, and went back to Diablo 3 after almost two years away for my looter/RPG fix. Blizzard and Epic are two companies Bungie could stand to learn a lot from when it comes to community management. Epic is constantly listening to player feedback and implementing changes to Fortnite to make the game more fun. After it was discovered that you could ride the pumpkin rockets during the Halloween event, they updated regular rockets after the event ended just because players found it a lot of fun. Want to shoot your friends across the map on a rocket to reach that enemy base? Done! Want to hide in a bush? Here have a bush potion to take the bush with you! Want to parachute across the map into the enemy base? Here have a launch pad. I know Fortnite is a very different type of game, but the point is that rather than worrying about complete balance, their first concern is making sure players are having fun. Further, they know what kind of game they want to be, and make choices to support that which may very well push away players who are looking for a more balanced competitive shooter experience. Similarly Blizzard continues to do the same things with Diablo 3. Rather than working to balance via constant nerfs, they're more interested in having fun. Their latest patch coinciding with Season 12 just brought significant buffs to multiple armor sets for every class in the game adding a level of variety and power that hasn't been seen in a long while. They learned from their initial mistakes at launch and understand that more power and more options equal more fun for most players, and gave players a way to push the limits of those powers while also being challenged. I think Bungie needs to fire whoever is in charge of monitoring, interpreting, and implementing player feedback, and then invest in some wide quantitative research of community opinions followed by some focused player panels to better understand what their community wants and how to implement it. D2 may be the result of three years of player feedback to D1, but as usual their changes were too extreme and ill conceived solutions to problems which could have been solved in much simpler ways.

6 RepliesEdited by zxionisus: 12/7/2017 3:48:33 AMIt reminds me, among other things, of the nerf to warlock solar grenades back around when the Rise of Iron expansion dropped. Solar grenades? Like who in the entire world was complaining of those, or even using them?! (That is, except for me - I used them with good success to solo Crota Hard every week just to finally get that Crux after 84 runs...) Mind boggling. This is why "Nerf Fusion Rifles" has become the battle cry for many a Destiny veteran. It is emblematic of the strange and absurd things that come from Bungie.

After reading the Stand Aside Titan Leg Exotics brought back from D1... makes sense now as you get an over shield while sprinting. So, in PvP you now get an extra second of running to someone before SC them.

16 RepliesEdited by Willie Killigan: 12/6/2017 12:23:14 PM“Decreased the distance traveled in the air with the shoulder charge ability when it is executed without a target” I didn’t even realize it was nerfed till I read the notes AFTER I played as my Titan. And I always use the air charge just because it looks cool and gets me places. I also teamed with 2 other Titans, neither mentioned the nerf. So how relevant is your complaint? Could it be that you’re out of touch with the developers? They may have information or knowledge you’re not privy too. Maybe players were using it to glitch through barriers or areas. But out of ALL the changes posted you pick the one that means nothing from a competitive standpoint.

I made a post about this a while ago

Edited by Unforgiven: 12/7/2017 5:45:08 AMLets take last bit of fun out of playing Titan, and just nerf movement. Is how I would like to sum up this change. Why did they nerf it? Was there really a reason to slow down Titan movement? Was it a big problem in the game? ctually this hurts the game because I was able to reach high places much easier using the ability so this was a bad decision. But then again, Bungie is full of them.

3 RepliesDid they really Nerf something virtually already useless lol ?

Yea dont see the point of nerfing that LOL

Was baffled by this nerf when reading it. What bull****

3 RepliesSo I got to ask (mainly to people who mains a Titan but anyone is welcome) does this affect the shoulder charge distance on the sentinel and striker while the super is active on air too? Or is it just the shoulder charge ability while on air?
-
I understand a lot of the changes they made in the update, really glad hunters got the recovery start boost(even though I just have a Warlock and Titan), and while I don’t like it I understand why they nerfed pulse grenades while bringing up all the other grenades. What really annoys me is definitely the charge. Both Hunters and Warlocks have pretty good fast movement options while Titans are stuck with slow hovering bullshit that’s guaranteed to get you killed, the charge allowed you to have a little more evasive control in pvp and speed/fun in pve. They need to restore it and find a way to prevent skating or conflict with ONE exotic they’re going to add that doesn’t -blam!- over one of the core mechanics of the titan class.
-
I feel that many better games are on the way. Bungie is losing the trust of the players and fast.
-
7 RepliesWait they seriously nerfed shoulder charge? I thought it was a joke like D1's fusion rifle nerf.

I used to love shoulder charge now it sucks so bad it's not even funny
