DLC: No new Raid. What do you think?
So I just finished the stream and there won’t be a new Raid for this DLC or the Spring DLC. What they’re doing instead is adding [i]Raid Lairs[/i] which are [i]shorter[/i] additions to the [i]Leviathan Raid[/i] we’ve already done over and over.
I usually expect a [i]new[/i] and [i]exciting[/i] Raid each time I purchase an expansion. Seems like we’re not getting that at all.
Curse of Osiris seems (from the stream) like it’s focused on Osiris and discovering the Vex, yet, we’re going back to the [i]Leviathan?[/i]
This feels weird. Thoughts?

For all the destiny fan boys (I used to be one) saying it’s ok really need to look at what bungie’s presenting a dlc that makes the base game raid useless so u have to buy it and it’s $26 dollars for a room in the vanilla raid. If everyone buys it all we do is show bingos that they can release content with no effort put into them. so please don’t support bungie and make destiny great again

I hold no high expectations for anything Bungie releases anymore thus I'll never be dissapointed by what they release in the future. All I can say is EA had better NOT pull the same 💩 with Anthem, when it releases it better be complete and not be pay to win, there's plenty of time between now and it's release to get it right, and learn from mistakes made with the input they had with Destiny.

Being a early destiny adopter, Beta for Destiny 1 and playing through and buying all the content and DLC for D1, I am not getting bit by these guys again. I ran through Destiny 2 with three characters at about 304 for the average and i did this in the first week or 2, this just seemed like a super let down of a game. Lucky for me it was a BDAY present, I was not out of any money. I have all exotics i could possible want, and legendaries that i could possibly care for, The trials of the nine is yet again a toxic KDR community, and this just lacked end game(I did beat the raid both ways). With that being said I will not be picking up the DLC due to the fact that you are getting garbage again on the first 2 DLCs of this game remember D1, IE D1 Dark below and PoE. I am honestly gonna wait till they drop DLC prices or give it to us in a full game which with next year them talking about a new raid, Chances are they will do the same thing. IE what they did with The first "BIG" Expansion which they did with The Taken king. Which was cheaper to buy with all the DLC together. I spent probably what 175 bucks for a game! Honestly I think Bungie has a lot to learn Warframe, it is a good example of what a awesome game is. They added a lot of stuff (for Free) and you can buy if you want to, however don't have to. I have switched to CoD ww2 which takes up some time however it left me lacking in the RPG shooter realm again Warframe a 5 year old FREE game is supplying it. just my opinion it could get a lot of hate however a would say the realistic gamers would agree. Like datto said, if this helps out to fend off the yearly content droughts its decent enough. In D1 we basically had 1 raid per year, if this lair system means we still get about a raid per year with lairs sprinkled in every couple months it could work out. But that being said i believe lairs should be free to those who own their parent raid as its not so much "new" as opposed to the existing raid being expanded upon.

We need better armor, weapons, exotics, re-imagined skill trees, unlocked abilities, strike-specific loot, meaningful raid loot with raid perks, faster TTK in all activities and wistful goodbye to the "freedom" (lmao) loadout.

I think f**k bungie. A vex dlc we all loved the vault of glass and I for one would have loved a vex raid, I think the most dislike raid is the leviunfun and they gone an added two dlc of small raid content to it. I have not touched this raid in weeks I can't even be bothered to do the challenges, can not be arsed to ever do it again even if the light level is raised, repackaged bull shit. So god dame angry what a piss take. I want a refund I would never have bought this. Who ever is coming up with this raid ideas needs to go. Disappointed to say the least

1 ReplyIt feels like a lazy solution. It's probably meant to be a "new and interesting" twist on raids. But again it's a case of a developer fixing something that wasn't broken to begin with. A raid is a raid and we expect one each time we drop more money on a game expansion in a game like this. Also with how disappointing the current raid is and how poorly it's been received I would think they would [i]want[/i] to make a proper raid. One that gets the hype that VoG or TTK did. But no. Another confusingly self defeating decision by Bungie. And all of this on top of the fact that it's being released a short three months after D2 dropped. Really? The game is so light on content that we [i]already[/i] need an expansion? I mean, yeah we definitely do need more but how sad is that as a statement on the quality of the day one product? And it's coming at [u]full price[/u] of any other DLC. If anything they should add this in for free as an apology for creating another day one dud. And let's not forget that if you choose [i]not[/i] to buy the Osiris DLC then, as it was with each D1 expansion, you'll have limited access to activities...after just three months...yeah... I'm sorry but I've lost hope in the franchise. I played all of D1, from day one. Even gave D2 the old college try. I just can't convince myself anymore that it's worth the time and especially the money. Cost vs benefit on this one has me cutting my losses.

Interesting concept but I kinda feel like they did it backwards, shouldn't Calus be the last boss, and you have to complete all lairs to access him?

9 RepliesAfter Y1, we only got a new raid each year. The Raid Lairs will let Bungie deliver smaller content drops more frequently than what we ended up with in Y2 and Y3. I think it will be an overall improvement for Destiny 2, and the developers who are creating new content.

It could mean that they'll have more time and resources available to work on more grand and 'clean' raid for the more [i]official[/i] expansion next September in 2018. The Leviathan is a very large location. It would be a missed opportunity not to take advantage of something that can be made into anything.

well don’t you think it would have been a bit underwhelming to have a ship big enough to consume a planet and only have one raid take place on it. think about the dreadnought in d1, it was a massive ship and personally i feel like we barely scratch the surface of that place by the end of the game.

10 RepliesIt really is a new raid. It's shorter, and it takes place on Leviathan, but in different parts of the ship (remember, it's big enough to consume planets), and with different enemies, puzzles, and boss. To say there's no new raid is misleading.

Also, it's not an expansion but DLC. Big difference. Dark Below and House if Wolves were DLC, Taken King and Rise if Iron were expansions.

Firstly, this DLC is releasing only a few months after the base game launched (2 months for people playing on PC). That's not really enough time to make an entirely new raid, especially when Gluttony sets the bar pretty high when it comes to aesthetics, mechanics, difficulty, etc. Remember what happened with Dark Below in D1? They rushed to release a second raid and it ended up being substantially shorter than VoG and riddled with bugs/exploits. If they tried to churn out another raid with this DLC it would be the same story and people would be equally pissed about how 'crap' it was or whatever. Secondly, the old raid is being brought up to the new cap, so we will essentially have two 'raids' to do each week. In D1, at least until the very end of the game's life, old raids were left behind, so there was only ever actually one raid to do at any given time. Plus, HoW didn't have a raid, so really we only got 1 new raid year 1, and here we're getting 2 mini raids, which combined will probably at least equal 1 full raid (in fact, I'd be willing to bet that just 1 of them will be equivalent to CE, given how short that was). All in all it looks like, while these new raids will still be on the Leviathan, they are in completely different areas with different bosses, so it's pretty different from just a minor variation of the existing raid. That seems good enough to me for the time being.

They said during the stream that raid lairs are shorter but also just as or more difficult than the current raid. The boss designer said during stream we will die alot. From a lore standpoint it makes sense that we still go to Leviathan, we are at war with the cabal (more focused on them than previously). The ship is also called Leviathan, Eater of world's, it destroys plantes, it makes sense that we want to incapacitate it as quickly as possible.
