Cheese is ruining the community
Bungie Team, I hope you are reading close here...
The last few weeks have been incredibly discouraging for a Destiny Vet who loves challenging content. As of lately, many players have been exploiting the "no adds" glitch in the Leviathan. This doesn't just take away any challenge the raid may have had, it makes the content no fun...With that being said...We can't expect every player to just take the moral high ground, there will always be those who want the fast route to the shiny armor with the lightest bit of effort required.
Is there every going to be a patch that fixes the whole "Despawn adds" cheese for the raid? I have NEVER had so many teams looking to exploit a glitch for free loot. Even in D1, we had exploits but they were often addressed and patched quickly.
I cant count how many times I've been kicked from a fireteam because I refuse to exploit a game breaking glitch. This has become a very persistent issue i run into. I rely heavily on LFG websites such as destinylfg.com destinylfg.net and the companion app that has find a fireteam. If you search any of these you are bound to find countless teams cheating the game while those who want to be legit sit in orbit.
I have been a destiny player since D1 and ever since the whole Crota LAN cable fiasko I vowed to never cheese game mechanics again. This is fine, and I get not everyone will take that stance but at this current time, more people are breaking the raid than actually beating it. For a player like me, this is very discouraging. I am shocked that the Bungie Team hasn't addressed this yet. Its been 4 weeks since prestige mode has released and even before that, this exploit has been abused.
All I am asking is that this gets addressed and patched at some point. I love Destiny and I love the community...but lets be honest. There are many players who will ALWAYS take the easy route. The challenge the raid has to offer will go by the wayside including the actual "challenges" that are introduced each week.

the diversity of comments on this thread prove your point @kickpuncher91 regardless of which side of the fence people sit (or even on it) - the cheese splits the community and brings with it more hostility it brings with it comments like - "make your own group", "the raid is easy anyways shouldn't need to cheese", "don't be melodramatic", "i always leave groups as soon as cheese is mentioned", "guys with full armour sets don't know how to do the raid, because they always cheese", "it's not a big deal", "it's because destiny isn't fun that people aren't playing it", "i just want to cheese to get better loot, lol", "what type of cheese brie, parmesan, cheddar?", "people can't do prestige callus anyways as they get bumped by the psions" etc. all of them differing opinions brings with it division, division which is exacerbated by the cheese still being around (they'll always be some division - in particular boasting about the raid being too easy, regardless of own skill level - some boasters being good at the game, some being bad at the game) i know personally i stopped running the raid mainly due to the prevalence of the cheese in every conversation and lfg regarding the raid in that sense i agree with you bringing up this topic and as mentioned the comments prove your point regardless of which side of the fence they lie i don't like getting bogged down in the martyrdom side of things either though - i.e. i am mightier than thou and refuse to do any cheeses, because it is the right thing to do - self righteousness in a video game also creates division in the so called "community" all in all, it's a sad state of affairs - lots of destiny 2 stuff is disappointing - other than the story, main campaign and more balanced pvp, it seems like d2 made a lot of steps backwards compared to d1 - sadly d1 wasn't the template it should have been to make d2 better (my opinion of course :) )

9 RepliesThe loot isn't worth the challenge, that's why people do it. None of the weapons or armour are worth it if they don't have any benefits to the raid. Raiding was always my favourite activity and now I barely even bother.

D1 glitches for loot were worth it. D2 glitches for cosmetics are not worth it. I'll stick to banjo kazooie / tooie until the 5th.

1 ReplyThis door is 2 way you know? For ages Bungie have ignored issues that affect US playing the game. Look at repeated exotics, since day 1 this has been a major issue. How many times do you see or experience your self, a hand in of engrams only to see 4,5,6 of the same exotic? They claimed to have sorted it out a good while ago, if they did genuinely solve it, why have they announced it again as an upcoming improvement? That was one example of how many things are wrong, there are loads, that have been ignored for a long long time. Cheese is a big one. How can we take this game seriously if it's own devs aren't interested? The way and attitude of Bungie has lost a lot of respect from a large part of the community, add to that the paper thin content and how poor the raids are, let's not forget the garbage loot and lack of rolls. Why WOULD you want to spend hours and hours on the raid for a emblem?? Or to get more normal based loot you've had 20 times already? My last raid I received 5 auto rifles! Because that makes me want to play over and over! There's zero effort gone into much of destiny 2 and until I have respect for this game again, I will certainly be Cheesing it when I can be bothered. Perhaps so I can get another 5 drops of the same item for several hours game play!

I think the easy fix is just deny loot to people who do it. How you ask? Make an enemy kill check. On Baths check for at least one Legionary kill, Dogs check for 4 dog kills, Gauntlet check for a Centurion kill, Calus check for a Phalanx kill. These enemies don’t spawn in those encounters with cheese, so I think it would probably be easier than fixing the root problems. I’m not normally all about telling people how to play the game, but the amount of people looking to cheese is ludicrous. I thought people might want to shoot things in a shooter

If you find a group that does not why not make a clan with them so you do not have to rely on LFG so much? Edit: You are in a clan of 99 and you can't get a raid team? Lead a guided game and you call the shots.

I like a challenge, but unfortunately I’m one of those shallow, pathetic people who like to be rewarded handsomely for their efforts. I’ve run the raid once, not completed it, after the second “token” chest I decided the time invested was not worth it. I don’t blame people for breaking an already broken game anyway. I don’t play destiny 2 at all now, there’s nothing at all that’s rewarding or worth collecting in this loot based game.

Prestige gear and weapons are exactly the same (yea they glow). That was a slap in the face, this raid deserves to be cheesed until they give better rewards.

Stop being so melodramatic. It's not " ruining " the community. Exploits are found and used in every game. Out of the two pick up raids I've done on PC the past two weeks neither used that method because we could get it done without it. I'll probably run into a group who wants to use it, but such is life. I won't whine like a bitch or run to the forums to type a resume. Why? It's a video game. It's not like people are using an exploit to ruin my personal life.

I came across a group doing this the other day. So I stuck around for a bit to see how it worked. I am convinced this team had never run the raid anyother way they really didn't even know how the encounter worked with adds. Shame to say it actually took them longer to one encounter with cheese than it would have taken my whole team to beat the entire raid legit. I left after 1 encounter

Moreover, cheese isn't ruining the game. If anything it's kept players around who'd otherwise have left. Quit making dumbass assumptions predicated on the idea that everyone is beneath you.
