  • You do understand that destiny 1 had like 4 DLCs? And destiny 2 is only a couple months old. Give it some time man. They had what, 3 years developing new content for destiny 1, and you're already judging destiny 2 even though it's just a couple months old. Come on.

Ok, look... I agree. But, holy-wall-of-un-puncuated-crap-Batman! "Rachael Ray enjoys cooking her family and her dog." "Rachael Ray enjoys cooking, her family, and her dog." Can we see here, why punctuation is needed?

      • Only reason I like D1 better is because it has more content; that being said, it took three years to get to that much content. D2 just started, so of course it's gonna have less content. I'm willing to give it time. Im sure by Y2, D2 will be great.

      • From a PvE aspect, I feel like D1 is better, especially with raid design. I will always believe that the Vault of Glass was the best Destiny raid. Also nightfalls did not have timers that, while create a challenge, also detract from the overall experience of the strike because of having to rush through quickly. However in my opinion, I feel like the crucible in D2 is better. I decided to try playing D1 crucible again and was again reminded of the reasons why I dislike D1 crucible in the current state. 1. An abundance of special ammo that everyone can grab for slide-shotguns. Very few snipers and fusions are in the crucible in D1 from my playthroughs. 2. Weapons are still unbalanced. At least three quarters of my deaths were to hand cannons, the Palindrome "god roll" in particular as it has been a meta for a while and one of the deciding factors that I stopped playing D1. 3. Panic supers, for any class, going for a single kill and not saving them for multiple enemies is highly prevalent in D1. I personally enjoy the changes to the game in D2. The implementation of power weapons, slows down the gameplay to create intense and frenetic matches based on hand-eye coordination and team communication. Whereas D1 was very solo-friendly for players and based on individual skill with a particular weapon, loadout, etc., D2 focuses on how well players can work as a team. This is what is sought after in the realm of Competitive E-Sports. I know this because I play in a competitive league in Battlefield 1. These changes directly mirror the goals of games like BF1, Overwatch, and Halo. While a number of users may disagree with my post, that is fine. No one in the world will have the same opinion about a particular topic, issue, cause, etc. They are entitled to their opinions as I am to mine. This post was not meant to create negativity or to offend. I am simply giving the point of view of the other side of the argument. I am certain of one thing though. That Bungie has made definite changes to D2 based on the realm of Competitive E-Sports due to Activision rather than take a more PvE approach seen in games like Neverwinter, Blade and Soul, and Black Desert Online. I wish you all a great day. :)

      • I can only say this, based on my experiance, so take it with a grain of salt because I'm not trying to say this is how it is or everyone feels. I really enjoyed playing D1, the grind for specific weapons or exotics, doing the raid and then the hard mode of it for better gear and weapons. Now there isn't a point to it, and again, it's only my opinion. When you have no weapon or sub-class custamization, when the gear and weapons you get from the hard mode of the raid are the same as normal, where is the insentive to play daily like I used to? I would spend hours with friends, grinding for loot or exotics, I liked doing Iron Banner and getting to level 5 then playing more till I got the full set of gear. Now it's repeats of almost everything and after so many hours of IB still no full set. I liked doing exotic quests, to get certain weapons, and if some people didn't get or do the quest you had a special item. I liked doing Crota and VOG, trying to get the ships, shaders and weapons. Now things seem to be just given to you and there is hardly any grind to it. I understand you want to make everyone that plays feel good about doing so, but for me anyway, it has taken the challenge and risk reward out of the game. I also feel it has taken the customization and individuality from us, and said basically, here are your two choices on how to play your character....have fun. Sorry for the rant, and again, it's just my opinion.

      • D1 release: 25 missions, 4 strikes, 1 raid, PvP. No-way to get to level 30 without grinding strikes and raid for weeks. D2 release: 20 missions, 40 adventures, 20 loot caves, 6 strikes, 1 raid, PvP. 305 achievable in every activity. Content comparison there. D1 release: level 15-20 after story, grind strikes till level 26/27, grind raid till level 30. D2 release: level 200-220 power by story, grind any activity (loot caves, adventures, story, strikes, PvP, public events) get to 270, grind raid + any activity -> 305. Replayability arguement there. Issue with D2 isn’t content or replayability, it’s the stabile core systems in D1 were removed rather than enhanced.

        • It's about the same, the only real difference is the weapon loadouts. But that actually made the pvp better. We dont need constant sniper ammo in pve or rockets. We need light level to actually make us feel powerful. Right now light level is worthless, actually it was always worthless. It has been loke that since day 1, that should have changed, but sadly I dont think it ever will. This game will continue to dissappoint and feel pointless until it dies

        • Comparatively speaking, D2 is a '76 Ford Pinto and D1 is a Ford Raptor. D2 had become a reset day game. An hour in the morning before work and then a half hour in the evening after the fam goes to bed.

        • Lol you’re comparing year three Destiny to Destiny 2... compare vanilla Destiny to Destiny 2 and you’ll find that Destiny 2 is actually a bigger game with more to do... in regards to quality it’s kind of a mix as Destiny 1 has no story and great end game where as Destiny 2 had an actual story but no end game. Ultimately I blame the major changes on the community whining about balance and making things easy to obtain.

          • D1 is easily more fun for a PvE player. I loaded it up and ran my Voidwalker build. Grenades recharging fast, got my super quick and was just having a blast patrolling and kicking ass. Huge difference when I put D2 back in. Horrible.

          • Well for one at the end of three years there was a hell of a lot of content for destiny 1. People who bought it last minute got quite a deal out of it. The issue is.......... The overall content of destiny 2 has about the same content as destiny 1. They're trying to follow the same roadmap as d1 as far as content evolution..... A game like this simply should not be starting with this little content...

and we have less ability and character customization? does motion tracker point the right direction ever? Is that guy seriously killing me while standing inside my vortex nova bomb? have to double jump while spinning to read Ana Bray's journal? and Bungie has forgotten how to respond to posts? wait nova bomb kills me but not them? you've taken away private matches again?

            • I love Destiny. Everything from it's lore to the worlds, but I concur. Destiny 2 is just not worth more than Destiny 1. I'd rather play D1. And the "Just be patient, it'll get better w/ DLC" argument is counterproductive and does not justify Destiny 2 in any way. We had to deal with that shit for 3 years in Destiny 1, and I'll be damned if you think I'm going to go through with it again. This idea of building each incomplete Destiny installment into a full game with the requirement of purchasing DLC is killing me. "If you don't like it, then don't play it!" "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all!" Oh, I would love nothing more than to play more Destiny, but can't find any incentive. Constructive criticism from the community is key to helping a game thrive. It's what got us The Taken King and Rise of Iron/Post-Age of Triumph in the first place. "You can't compare Destiny 1 and all of it's DLC to Vanilla Destiny 2, though!" This isn't about the amount of content, but the way of which how they delivered 'said content'. If anything, it's more about faith in Bungie than patience, really. Need I have to say more?

It had more incentive to play BUT not sure if it was a better game per se. The comparison isnt really fair though because of mainly two things: 1. We didnt know what to expect in D1. We had some clue, yes, but in general we werent fully in the loop. There were a lot of cons with the game but we always had faith that it would improve. After all, it was Bungie - the company that made the best shooters on console. And while the franchise did improve over the years I think a lot of us grew tired of waiting for that final redemption. I sunk thousands of hours into it but stopped playing all together 8-9 months prior to D2. That brings me to #2. 2. Not only did D2 not really improve upon anything, On the contrary, you could make the argument that it took a step back in many ways and pretty much rendered replayability moot. It also didnt bring anything new to the table. So to me, who was already pretty fed up with D1 and didnt play it anymore, it was just a stripped down version of the same old same old. Not that I ever believed them but they seemingly wanted it to come off as some form of "franchise reset". This was their chance to take the franchise in a new direction, yet they used the exact same model as in D1. Just imagine a truely open world-shooter. How awesome wouldnt that have been? If D1 was a somewhat weak attempt at a new project then I'd say that D2 is a game of missed opportunities. Also, I see that people are linking sales numbers as some form of arguement for D2's success. That's not really fair either. They've had three more years to get the franchise name out there and more people own consoles and follow stuff on social media. Some of the best games to date are ten or more years old by now but only had a fraction of the sales of the new games - simply because consoles and gaming computers werent in every home. And unless you bought the actual gaming magazines or had a friend promoting a game you'd probably never hear about it. I mean, can anyone argue that H2 and H3 didnt have better PvP than Destiny - and those games were made by the same company? Even if you didnt like that particular shooter style it would be insane to not acknowledge that the Halo games had the best matchmaking systems and options on console. In Destiny we're not even allowed to pick game mode anymore. How is that ok?
