Without flaming, what's your favourite raid and why?
For me, Vault of Glass holds a special place in my heart. Even after completing it many times over, we would continue to go in and just explore - there were so many interesting secret / hidden areas to find.
The mechanics of the raid were some of the best to date (even if they were glitched - like teleporting between past / future).
The rewards were some of the most unique and sought after (Fatebringer, Vision of Confluence, Vex Mythoclast), and the armor some of the best looking (looking at YOU, Kabr's Battlecage).
It was rich with lore, and just an overall pleasant experience ...
I liked Wrath of the Machine, but the 'gauntlet' at the beginning of Crota's End was always a blast with a lot of laughs ....
What's your fave and why??
UPDATE: I can't tell you how pleased I am to see the responses and dialogue, and the fact that there hasn't been any major flaming here. Everyone has a personal experience an opinion on these raids, and it's good to see people realizing and respecting that. Great stuff, Guardians!

1 ReplyAnything but the Leviathan to be honest. Although I am sure I would have liked that raid more if it felt more like a raid.

VoG for having the best blend of mechanics...and a sense of being in a real fight for your life. Wrath of the Machine for having the best sense of simply being in knock-down, no-holds-barred fight. Leviathan for trying switch up the formula and do something fresh.

Some really great view points and opinions in here, even if I don't agree with them all, this is a great read! Thanks everyone who has participated in this thread so far, and done so with maturity and constructiveness.

I prefer wotm because the guns had completely unique perks

Honestly, I'm divided here. In terms of aesthetics, my fav is VoG. The vex are my favorite enemies for specifically that reason - they have such interesting architecture and mechanics in their strikes and missions and raids. The whole thing with time travel and teleportation and shifting space - ugh, I can never get enough. So much potential with them, I guess. Mechanically though, I think I like Kings Fall most. Not too easy, not too hard. And good for laughs too - going through that with some close clanmates and watching people -blam!- up certain mechanics on the way to and from boss rooms was a hoot, because as long as one person was able to complete the area, everyone would get teleported. You could just sit there and watch them screw up. I dunno - I just the best memories raiding in there.

Crotas End and Kings Fall are the best I hate Leviathan Raid I hate Leviathan Raid I hate everything about Leviathan Raid I hate Bungie -blam!- Bungie

The vault of glass will forever be the best and absolute badass and comprehendable raid. Man, I miss VoG warlock gear and those weapons.

7 RepliesTrick question. Skolas

32 RepliesPeople need to take off their nostalgic glasses for VoG and realise KINGS FALL was the best raid to date! Day 1 player and I still think Kings Fall > All.

2 RepliesEdited by ahnunna: 11/9/2017 5:00:43 AMkings fall is way too underrated

22 RepliesEdited by undiiviidual: 11/3/2017 4:19:28 PMThat moment when Vog is apparently the greatest raid just because it came out first. Kingsfall was the best raid of Destiny. Good separation between encounters with unique jumping puzzles with secret chests offering good rewards, and my favorite aesthetic being that of hive. People need to let go of the hype. Vault was linear and kind of boring. Vog encounters include standing on 3 plates and shoot the evil bois to open the door, shoot bois as they try to stand in a circle 3 times, shoot yellow bois and vex bois or wipe, kill giant hydra bullet sponge, crouch walk through a maze, and shoot another bullet sponge and probably just get some ascendant shards. I thought Vog was a solid 6/10 raid, Crota was a 7.5/10 just because it was so buggy, Kings Fall was a 9/10, Wotm was an 8.5/10, and the Leviathan at a solid 7/10.

3 RepliesSkolas should be an option to put even more misery on leviathan.
-
Kings fall. Why - Golgoroth, dildos of doom, sisters, some cool jumping puzzles and a challenging boss fight. Please don't mention the glitch ogres..... We all know they sucked!
-
Time and knowledge was actually put into vault of glass.
-
I understand the love for the first raid, VoG, but it's gotta be kings fall. Just... So good. The atmosphere, the interdimensional threat, the massive boss fight at the end and the horrors you faced in between.. Oh, and the jumping puzzles. I miss tombship jumping.
-
I feel like VoG was a solid balance between length, difficulty (when released) and fun. Kings fall may not be as fun to run through (for some) but it has the length and more challenging encounters than VoG.
-
Best rewards VoG, best mechanics Kings Fall.

1 ReplyNaxxramas. Such a cool raid, set up in a mausoleum, with four sections dedicated to different practices of the Lich King's army. So good. No lie, my favorite fight was the Four horsemen one.
Post obliterated
-
My favorite strike is Crota's End, hands down.
-
Easily VoG. Put aside the nostalgia and the good memories, VoG was just a solid raid. Great rewards that were very rare to drop, sometimes too rare but a grind that I enjoyed. Also the mechanics were actually fun. Not too difficult where I had no clue what was going on but hard enough to keep it interesting. Although not perfect VoG was amazing and it's what got my completely hooked with the destiny franchise.

1 Reply1 word. Fatebringer. Nuff said.

For me, Vault of Glass. Besides being the first raid, it just seemed... cool. I've always been a huge fan of Vex lore and architecture, so I might be a little bias, but I think it was great. King's Fall was a close second, but I was/am very tired of the hive and the potatoes I raided with could not seem to finish the -blam!-ing raid in one sitting...

The forum raid, Bungie is a multi phase boss and has a enrage timer!

1 ReplyDidn't get to raid too much in year one. Newborn. Nuff said. Still, the few times in year one that I actually found a team to do vault, it did seem really cool. Really mysterious. Nothing spelled out. Different little secrets and chests to find. Super fxckin hard on a lvl 27 Hunter. It was pretty awesome. But then, I started to do It later on when I started to raid more. Meh. It's kinda lame actually. The "first-timesies" wore off. I realized after a whole year of KF how damn short and stupidly easy vault actually was. BUT it has some of my favorite loot. That is a big plus. VoC, the fatebringer, Vex (pre-nerf and pre other nerf, and other nerf). Crota looked the coolest to me. Looked like Minas Morgul or something. So awesome, and made me realize that there was a lot more depth to Hive Lore that was really really good. Loot was also great. But this is my last favorite. Fxck this stupid over hyped raid. I was so excited for it. And it was 5 dudes shooting rockets from a fxckin ledge. Really? That's it? And it's so short? I mean solo it was a lil more fun, but seriously, fxck this raid. Only reason people ran it was for Hammer and Gally. King's Fall was my favorite. Not for the loot. Dear god. Unless it was the MG or the scout, the loot can go fxck itself. But this raid was long as fxck. Most of it couldn't be cheesed or solo'd. (Unlike that glitchy ass Crota raid.) It actually took most of the team to know their job and play their role. In other words, you really had to know the raid. The Oryx fight was a little meh. But mostly, this shit was pretty cool. And I expected to hate it since it was another god damn hive raid. But it's my favorite. The most well rounded raid I thought was Wrath. Nice amount of boss encounters. Platforming. Everyone has a job. Any super is welcome. Gear is flexible. And a nice length. Giggity. But... eh. Meh. The SIVA thing was hit or miss for me. And I didn't like that Aksis challenge for some reason short circuited mother fxckers brains to where they couldn't jump or react quickly to boss movement and callouts. Ugh. It was pretty good though. I actually put it second. Leviathan? Well I haven't played it a whole lot. Maybe not enough to have experience, but enough to have an opinion. It's near the bottom. Super meh. I like playing it. The length is good. The mechanics are good. But honestly. Fxck the color gold. Story wise the Leviathan seems a bit out of place or just out of the blue, even if some of the lore explains it. I like the way the Staffs encounter is set up in between each section, and how the encounters change order. But in my opinion, there's not enough boss encounters. Not enough true platforming. There's exploring in the underbelly but it just feels like "the chore I gotta do to get my loot". The chests don't drop the awesome fear like they used to. And the gauntlet... fxckin seriously? It looks like something off a game show or American Gladiators. Like, I get that Calus is challenging us, but with glowing arrows to shoot and relay races? Seriously? I was just wanting something a little better lore and story wise. Not "The Price is Right; Cabal Edition". If we're being real here? Skolas. Yeah. Fxck you. I said it. Skolas. He should have had the first raid. Hell it could have just been us fighting him at his crashed ship, I didn't care. But his boss fight (not the PoE shit, screw that) was the hardest thing I've done in Destiny to date. No, not with the cheesey ass burns. Skolas legit was pretty fxckin hard. Made worse by the fact that you can only bring 3 guardians. The mechanics were cool (If a little god damn frustrating) and really made your team strategize on the fly, communicate, and struggle. But Skolas got fxcked. He didn't get a raid to start with, then didn't even get brought up with Challenge of Elders. Fxck Atheon. And fxck aksis challenge. I want more shit like Skolas back in D2. Hard as hell. Loot you gotta earn. Crota's missile vulnerable ass can suck a fat baby's dick. Didnt see many sword bearers bragging about their Skolas kills.
