I think it’s time for we hardcore players to face the music

Destiny is no longer targeted to us. Just browsing the forums, casual players seem totally content with the game and are enjoying it massively while we hardcore players are up in arms over the fact that we were 305 week two and have nothing to do. Bungie wants the game to be easily picked up and played for “fun” not no lifed by hundreds of thousands of Dattos. It sucks but the game just isn’t for us anymore. Think, the new DLC will come out, we’ll finish it in a few days tops and then go right back to complaining about there’s nothing to do. A casual would have MONTHS of entertainment from the upcoming winter DLC. We are the minority now ladies and gents and just got shafted by the developers. EDIT: As some people have noticed I HAVE NOT completed the raid yet. As far as the reason, at the time I couldn’t be bothered. I had no interest in the raid and was also already around LL 300 at the time. I know people will read this, roll their eyes and scream excuses which is justifiable but I do plan on doing the raid at my earliest convenience an anyone who’d like to team up and complete it together, I’d be happy to squad up with. ~Nyahh! =^,.,^=

  • Just out of curiosity, what do the "hardcore gamers" do when they finish other games? Not every game comes out with a DLC or continues to offer content. If they do, it may either be for more or less of a timeframe than any of the Destiny content. Do you go on forums and complain and criticise every game, or do you feel for some you got your money's worth? What do you feel determines this? No sarcasm, here - honest questions for those who spend a great deal of time gaming. I'm interested in your opinions.

    • It's too bad Bungie couldn't make a game that appealed to serious players and casuals alike. I've been saving myself for the PC version, but at this point, I'm not sure that I should even bother. Ironically, the only thing I expect to like about D2, if the pc beta was any indication, is crucible.

    • No one held a gun to your head and forced you to play 6 hrs per day.

    • See that's the problem. People leave but come back for the dlc. Why would bungie change anything if they get the same results? If the dlc doesn't sell, they will change their practices.

      • The only reason we are 305 after 2 weeks is we played way too much. Way too much, all in a hurry to get there. We should have played 1-2 hours a week, I guarantee by doing that we all be sub 300.

        • It's not hardcore vs. casual. It's simply not fun to play. The timer makes the Nightfall incredibly un-fun to play. I used to play it regularly, now I don't play it at all. Getting tokens from the raid is NOT fun. Being locked out of the sparrow until level 20 is NOT fun.

          • Well, hardcore players can go play hardcore PVP lmao... JK JK...lmao. I'm happy that I don't have to devote as much time as before but I'm also sad that this game doesn't hold my attention for as long. But you know, we've already experienced Destiny...it's not a surprise that it feels old. It's not a surprise that we're much better at it than ever before and are completing contents faster than ever before. I have friends new to the series having a difficult time breaking the 280 barrier lol...I broke that 1st week -.- or rather 3rd day. The gap between veterans or "hardcore" players and casual newbies are growing and I think that's a challenge for any developer. They don't want the mass to fall behind while they need to entertain the vets... they can always gate your level and make it near impossible to hit max but that kind of artificial delivery to satisfy people's innate desire for completion isn't sustainable.

            • Well to be honest Destiny was made for casuals to begin with. It is literally a watered MMO without being a full MMO. They just watered it down even more

            • I agree with you that Destiny 2 is boring. But what I don't understand is the following:
...we were 305 week two and have nothing to do.
I honestly don't understand that. Why do you play the game to only reach a certain number? Especially if that number doesn't mean shit. If there was no level in Destiny 2, just activities in PvE/PvP, would you play it or not? And if the answer is "yes" then go play those activities. If not, then I would stop playing altogether. Because even if the rank gets upped to, let's say 350 in a few weeks/months, people will go try to reach that rank as fast as possible, and once they reach it, they feel like there is nothing to do. Destiny 2 is a game. I'm not saying it's a good game, but it's a game. So play if you find it fun and don't play it if you don't like it. Ignore the 305 or whatever number they give. Because there are already countless YouTube video's that proof that attack/defense hardly means shit in this game.

              • So are the hardcore players the people that have no life, no job, and live at their mom's house playing Destiny all day? Because that seems to be the current understanding of a hardcore player. This game is very very far from decent but it isn't as bad a the same generic bs you get with cod or bf every six months. I say stop crying and wait for the first bs expansion that bungie will force on us (because we all know it will be bullshit) before we completely obliterate them.

                • As a 2500-hour player, I think I qualify as hardcore. And while I think Bungie made some pretty stupid mistakes with D2, I nonetheless enjoy it, and do not feel like I've been abandoned or ignored. Sorry that you do.

                • Uh yes hardcore player here, went flawless, completed the raid twice, going flawless twice this upcoming weekend, and I enjoy it so far for the most part, except for the iron banner. I think bungie will improve it. and the prestige raid is around the corner too.

It was a grindier game before, and grind is generally more appealing to players who want a game to be a significant part of their life than to players who want to casually enjoy it sometimes. But casual players have always been the target demographic, and toning down the grind was a logical next step based on their trajectory so far.
We are the minority now ladies and gents and just got shafted by the developers. ~Nyahh! =^,.,^=
Hardcore players have always been the minority. There will always be more people who play any game for fun a few hours a week than players who dedicate their lives to it. And the largest demographic will always be the most profitable to appeal to.

But, you have only 2 characters... and they arent even max light yet!?!? I'm a freaking casual, who happend to have two weekends without daugher/wife at home, and already have 3 305s... wth? What is casual/hardcore? Also, i'm still having a blast, doing publics, nightfalls, strikes, raids etc, chasing thoose damm 4 exotics that im missing (2 for hunter and 2 for Warlock). Also, i'm still chasing that damm Sins of the Past. Today i'll try again, but after 5 mob justices, 3 swords, 3 autos, 2 pulses, 2 scouts, 7 chestpieces, 4 arms, i'll probably never get it. EDIT: IMHO, the game run dry only because the PVP is garbage.
