Destiny is no longer targeted to us.
Just browsing the forums, casual players seem totally content with the game and are enjoying it massively while we hardcore players are up in arms over the fact that we were 305 week two and have nothing to do.
Bungie wants the game to be easily picked up and played for “fun” not no lifed by hundreds of thousands of Dattos.
It sucks but the game just isn’t for us anymore. Think, the new DLC will come out, we’ll finish it in a few days tops and then go right back to complaining about there’s nothing to do. A casual would have MONTHS of entertainment from the upcoming winter DLC.
We are the minority now ladies and gents and just got shafted by the developers.
[b]EDIT: As some people have noticed I HAVE NOT completed the raid yet. As far as the reason, at the time I couldn’t be bothered. I had no interest in the raid and was also already around LL 300 at the time. I know people will read this, roll their eyes and scream excuses which is justifiable but I do plan on doing the raid at my earliest convenience an anyone who’d like to team up and complete it together, I’d be happy to squad up with. Edited by Alvin Thwait: 10/18/2017 8:00:13 AMThink it's safe to say I'd fit the criteria as "hardcore" as I've pumped hundreds of hours in D2 & thousands more in D1. I played because of the fun I had with my fireteams. I still play whenever I can with or without any clan mates because I like it. It's fun. The thing is though it is not as much fun if you are totally playing solo. For example if I spawn on Nessus and there's a public event I'll jump in if there's anyone else doing it. If I'm totally alone, chances are I'll ignore it. Getting over run by dozens of adds is frustrating as Hell. I can't believe the player base is so low that I can't spawn in on a map with at least 1 or 2 other players (especially of there's a public event coming in). I am not someone who cares too much about loot, but I understand there are still a lot of you that only care about loot and the fun you had finishing the raid (For example) is instantly evaporated when you don't get the full armour set from the end boss fight. To be honest if this is you then accept that this game was only going to be a short term thing. You only have to read the incessant whining on this forum last week when people didn't get every available gun or armour piece during Iron Banner. The biggest problem Bungie ever caused was trying to give everyone too much.

1 ReplyCasual audience is built into the core of Destiny 2. They'd need to do some major work over the next year (which I doubt they'll do). Here's to hoping Anthem is good.

The problem isn't reaching 305 quickly, it's the lack of content and top tier gear to chase. I was a hardcore player in D1 and I continued to play long after reaching max light because I wanted that elusive Fatebringer/Black Hammer/Gjallahorn etc. Then when I got them It was actually a blast to use them. Those weapons made me feel powerful. As did the quicker abilities recharge rate. It was fun. In D2, I don't feel this sense of power or fun as much.

The only reason d1 survived was because of the hardcore players. The only reason a dedicated an populated destiny community exists is because of the hardcore. Im not a hardcore player but im not exactly causal either. But even i can see this “appeal to the casual” is killing the game. And its doing it fast.

4 RepliesI have God knows how many hours on D1 with 9 characters on 3 accounts, for all its flaws Destiny was and still is an awesome game. Still tons of stuff to do, putting together an armor set from Treasure of ages has been a challenge and I recently got my 9th Black Spindle so that all my characters have one. I'm sure by now u get my drift, I defended D2 because of my love for D1 until I was blue in the face! Now I feel like a horses ass. D2 is 100% made for casuals, there is no debate there. I have all the Raid and Trials weapons and I've only done the Raid once! Why bother when it drops as a clan reward? I've met know it all's in D2 who actually call me a liar because I said I soloed the NF with Void burn. When I mention I used Darkdrinker one guy said he wouldn't have had the patience to do the quest for it. But he's 'Grinding' the Mida quest lmao! I love a challenge and insane quests like Outbreak Prime, Sleeper Simulant and the First Curse. D2's BIG quest is for a shotgun that because of whiners has been put in the heavy (Oh sorry casuals) Power weapon category. Long rant I know but D2 is so friggin easy it's like my kid playing Roblox (fun game). I know expansions, Dlc and throwing wads of my kids college fund at the t.v. for Eververse will eventually improve it, but D2 has been a massive kick in the nuts to hardcore players. Weapons, armor, exotics, shaders =suck ass. Graphics and sound =awesome. Game designed for casual players most of whom have never played D1=Check. P.S. WORST I.B. EVER! Waste of time.
I picked the wrong week to quit cocaine
I already stopped playing. There’s other games other than this unfinished crap

6 Repliesim a casual player, i have a life a job a wife a home dogs.. no kids. but still i hit endgame in 3 weeks, almost 305 after 1 reset.... this game isnt even targeted for me. its turning out to be a cod.........

12 RepliesYou only have 2 characters. You call yourself "hardcore"? You're as soft as they come, puddin'.
-
You are far from hard core player. Lol
-
6 RepliesI don't think we are that much in the minority and bungie will realize that with how badly the dlc sales are for d2.....i for one will not be purchasing this time around (unless by some miracle they do a complete overhaul of this game and make it great for the long term player base) or d3 for that matter....I hope all the other hardcore players follow suit and really stick it to them....only then will they realize how important we were but too little too late I won't be back by then....."you done -blam!-ed up a a ron"
-
What are you talking about? You only have 2 characters and one of them is only 290... Get all 3 characters to 395 and then complain!!!!
-
Yep, ive gone back go Ark (not that its much better but hey).
-
I'm midway between casual and core and I know people who suck at video games and would already have reached 300 or higher by week 2. All three of my characters are 300. In D1 I *only* made a hunter. One hunter. I have almost 2000 hours in that game. I'm done with D2 after barely 250 with no reason to keep playing. I hate it. The game is bad, very bad. It's so far removed from what D1 is it should have a different name.
-
I can't play every single day, but I consider myself above casual. Not hardcore, though. Right now I have a Titan at 303 that beat the raid. I'm just going to have to take my time leveling up my other characters. Also, I believe that you'll use the Bungie forums if you're above the casuals, and you care about the game. It doesn't necessarily mean you're hardcore.
-
Pmsl who said I was going to buy thier dlc ? They can stick thier dlc up thier assholes for all I care . Gt sport and red dead 2 are my destiny . -blam!- bungie I'll never buy thier games again.
-
12 RepliesThey never targeted hardcore players.
-
Im not a hardcore player, indeed, im very far from it, but as I casual, even that I play every day, Im not feeling D2 neither. I believe Bungie gave us BS in its most humiliating form.\ Harccore players always motivated me to do something, to grind , to get better. Now this is not a true to seek. This was supposed to be a celebration of farming, loyalty dedication, but it is just a insult to a community that had been loyal and patience. Crucuble sucks, IRON BANER SUCKS, REWARDS SUCKS...BUNGIE SUCKS
-
Please, go. You people ruined Destiny 1 with your cancer.

Edited by NottaShoT: 10/18/2017 1:54:28 AMI consider myself a “casual”player, maybe 2 hours a day at BEST. I’m currently sitting in the 290s bored to high hell lol 2 Cayde 6 statues, my loot box for the month and probably 20 rockstar drinks and I’m still hoping, begging this game will get enough content for me to hang on. I wish the game had a in game achievement system and real stat system, something to chase! However that doesn’t seem to be the case, even for my casual butt my light is slowly starting to die.
-
Yeah this game sucks
-
Hit 305 on all characters 2.5 weeks ago and haven’t played since

Just browsing the forums, casual players seem totally content with the game and are enjoying it massively while we hardcore players are up in arms over the fact that we were 305 week two and have nothing to do.
I hope you aren't under the assumption that all casual players are totally ok with the game. I'm casual and I have a hard time finding a reason to log in after completing the weekly milestones in the first day. Raid, Nightfall and Crucible? Not fun or rewarding enough to even bother. I have my own list of grievances with this game and I'm sure others do as well. The problem with this game is 2-fold. First its that Bungie tried to cater to both and wound up failing. Second they attempted to 'streamline' the game in order to make PvP balance easier for themselves. Long story short up to 265 its easy enough where casuals can complete it even if they don't have as much time/skill/friends/etc as others but once there they hit a wall. After that wall is what's supposed to be for the more hard core crowd, raid/nightfall/weeklies (for some even more hard core people this was easy as well). Bungie changed a lot of game mechanics and fundamentals so that they didn't have as many factors to balance such as special ammo, ability spam, etc as to make it easier to balance. Due to both these things on top of the game being about as short as Year 1 it feels disappointing for many people. There will always be someone that likes this (I'm fairly certain that there's SOMEONE out there that likes Ride to Hell: Retribution...).

Hopefully all the newbies leave destiny fast so that Bungie will only have us to attend to so that all of us loyal players can actually have fun.

1 ReplyHardcore players have always been in the minority though
