So player numbers are dropping, the bottoms falling out

Steady decline This week, PVE 3.8 mill Tuesday, 3.6 mill weds, and just 3 mill yesterday Also for the first time ever pvp numbers were greater than pve on a non trials day, 3.1 PVP compared to 3.0 PVE. Bungie should be very worried Edit: source is destinytracker.com who use bungies own api to record daily logins. The numbers are 100% correct. Edit2: numbers haven't gone up at all, despite it being the weekend and trials. Edit3: the decline continues, dropped the last 2 days, now 2.6 pvp 2.5 pve.

  • Raid is shyte Raid loot is worse Nf too hard for most people, with that shitty timer and garbage rewards Milestones done in no time, and not a lot else to do if you are anywhere near 305 Pvp has spurned a lot of people Exotics are lack lustre and drop too easily Public events too empty and reward blue gear Purple engrams dropping at 290 293 and are off no use to man nor beast Strikes and adventures take too long and reward crap People are hitting 305 and then what? Just saying.....

      • Yeah I'm even seeing major twich people that stream nothing but Destiny playing games like Fortnight and cup head halfway through the day. The -blam!-ed up the end game. There's nothing to grind for but a number *305.

      • Its not a surprise, I come to the forums for laughs, but I already haven't played in a little over a week. Its just too much of the same like nearly ever reviewer mentioned like Angry Joe. Nothing is really new and nearly every aspect of this game was half-assed. The only positive change is the static rolls. People who don't know or care about weapon balance will argue against this, but you can write pages on why random perks and rolls were killing D1 and how they worked against the notion of establishing a "competetive" scene in D2, if you can even call it that.

        • Static rolls on weapons, strikes with meaningless rewards, PVP playlists crammed together, all modes are 4 vs 4, no solo queue playlist, and terrible RNG are a few things I can think of. It's a great game all the way up until it's not. This game isn't for grinders or solo players that's for sure. I don't know what Bungie was thinking as far as longevity.

          • What can I say the end game in D2 is just not there....takes about a week even less to get to max light and do every activity D2 has no staying power at all....Bungie needs to fix endgame and bring back random perks on weapons and armour Strike specific loot, lost sectors need to level with you and offer something to make it worth it, same with adventures At the moment this just another generic shooter that offer no individuality or reason to grind....everyone is the same which to me make this kinda boring

As far as I'm concerned D2 is pretty much a "Tuesday only" game at this point. Which means it will have very little stickiness. And therefore longevity (what with being an MMO that requires people to be online and all). Piss-poor levelling mechanics, exotic duplication issues (intentional or otherwise), very limited gear pool and absence of random rolls means there is absolutely no way to keep levelling up past a certain point once the weekly Power engrams have been cashed in. Which means there is zero reason to grind / loot. More of the same control-freak / "play this our way" decisions regarding alt characters of the same class and inability to infuse armour across classes result in zero incentive to work on alts for many players. Bullet-sponge bosses and timer mechanics effectively preclude access for most players to Prestige NF before hitting the level cap on a functional loadout or two. And don't get me started about the Raid. Whoever thought removing checkpoints and loot drops im favour of this asinine design was a good idea / the way to encourage more players to try raiding via a broken and punishing "guided" games system needs to take a psych 101 class and/or be shown the way to the nearest unemployment office. Add the matchmaking / absence of tiering on Trials where 75% of the playerbase is meant, by design, to action as quick and easy win fodder for the 25% that will get 7 wins (flawless or otherwise) and you've got a full-house.... No possibility to select strikes No possibility to replay story / adventures from maps No bounties No way to select a specific game type in PVP No private matches No loot whatsoever past a certain point during timed events (faction engrams) Absence of stock with Xur. No collectibles / record books / rewards. One of these issues alone would be bad enough. The combination of them all speaks volumes in terms of the developper's intentions... they have (again) rushed a game with insufficient content and extremely little replay value. The difference with D1 is that they are not even pretending that they want you to keep playing. Perhaps they figure we'll be more likely to comeback after a little / long break each time new content is introduced. We shall see. TL;DNR: if you are a returning D1 heavy player, there is no point whatsoever in playing beyond Tuesday. Get your clan rep in, do your flashpoint, do your call to arms, get your loot, level up. Have a bit more fun / run the raid perhaps, then sign-off until next Tuesday. Everything you do beyond that is a big fat waste of time from a progression perspective.

              • Agree, sadly. I played D1 a lot, loved it, would even grind for weapons I didnt have, just because I didn't have them. I can get to 305 on Warlock and Titan, gotta work on Hunter, but i don't have the drive to continue like I did in D1.

              • Those will continue to drop. Most D1 vets I play with are not happy and have moved on already or are on the brink. For the reasons below... Nightfall timers Poor PvE end game.. no selectable strikes, no hard mode missions, no daily bounties.. PvP is only 4v4 on maps for 6v6 which leads to teams actually hiding at the end of a close match or they just go full time limit. No selectable Crucible modes Piss poor matchmaking for all Crucible especially Trials Lost Sector's were a huge disappointment Strike are boring and offer nothing worth grinding Static rolls .. nothing worth grinding Dumbed down abilites, perk trees and horrible looking armor. Way to many repeat drops even worse than D1 2 primary system in PvE is atrocious!! Heavy ammo is non-existent during most boss encounters.. plink, plink, plink is not fun. The only thing I feel Bungie got right was the Public Events.

                  • I still am enjoying it, but there is not much to grind for. With static rolls, I was hoping for a much wider selection of weapons. Whether you like the grind or not, there is simply not as much loot to keep some players coming back.

                        • lol RoI had an average player base of 500,000 daily players. Sometimes only 300,000. Saying that the bottom is falling out because they "only have 2.5 million daily players" is a bit spastic. Of course the player base is gonna go down, steadily too, with the exception of Event/DLC bubbles. This is true with all games.

                          • So I'm gonna make an obvious point here: Tuesday is gonna have the largest volume of players, decrease over the course of the week, and skyrocket again on Tuesday. Now if u told me that one Tuesday's stats were significantly worse compared to the next, then you may have a point, but only after having collected data on a significant amount of Tuesday's. Only then could u draw a possible conclusion.
