People are complaining because bungie had 3 years to work out what worked and what didn't work, and most of the stuff that worked and players enjoyed was removed from the game in D2.
By the end of D1 they had added core mechanics that are core mechanics such as strike scoring, strike medals, strike specific loot, being able to choose a game mode in Pvp and to be honest this has been a core feature in any FPS for the last 7 years. The list goes on.
Bungie stated themselves that D1 was a sort of test/trial to see what the game could be. By the end of year 3 they should have had a good idea of what worked. Then suddenly dropped half of it. The fear players are having now....'is all this stuff it took 3 years and 3 DLC to achieve going to take that long and that many DLCs to return if at all'
D2 should have all the core mechanics that players loved in D1 and then all the new stuff from D2 on top of that. Story and worlds are a good size that doesn't have to change just the basic mechanics it took so long to achieve in the first place.
Lost sectors should have specific loot or at least planetary loot, adventures should offer better gear because there actually pretty fun. There should be very little or no reskined weapons and armor in the game, faction rally is coming up and it's almost all reskins.
If a player who stopped playing destiny after vanilla returns in D2 there going to be presented with the same thing. They miss out on the transformation destiny went through and the final product.
This is a sequel, sequels are supposed to bring something new to the table and right now bungie have not delivered this.
I'm not complaining because I hate the game. It's the opposite. I and many others see the unbelievable Potential in this game that bungie keep missing the mark on. Especially in D2 because this time we have seen what bungie are capable off. I don't want destiny to become a game like COD where I settle for the same thing every time. Where is the horde mode? Where is the large team battles? Where is the secret exotic missions? Where is the 'new'

I've seen people complain about Jesus and Mother Teresa and Bungie ain't a bunch of angels anyway... That aside, I do agree with the pain points. D2 is shallow for the $$$ it costs. I'm not even going to discuss pvp and nerf guns we have. There are better forums for it. I have friends who pre ordered D2 and now hate this. It has changed too much and does not feel magical anymore. I sometimes feel more CoD than Guardianish... I did the campaign solo and most of the story and dialogs were lame comapred to other AAA titles. I love this game but not like D1. First few days and all the forums were full of praise... Now it's what week 3 or 4 and (not even end of Sep) and forums are full of trending hate posts. I have said this before... D2 is like the new girlfriend who makes your ex look good. Enough said.

Even the edz is taken from pre launch d1!

All Bungie needed to do was lock certain weapons and loadouts in competitive PVP. That’s it. Instead they chopped the entire game off by the knees.

2 RepliesOne of the biggest letdowns for me is our characters are less customizable. Bungie had the subclass ability trees right the first time. Why fix something that wasn't broken? Now instead of countless character builds we get 2 dumb paths to choose from. It's almost like the dev team took the list of all the things that worked in d1 and scrapped it.

Its not as fun as the 1st, strikes are pointless, planets are mostly empty of other players. Haven't bothered doing the nightfall (why bother when there are public events) and have no interest in the raid. This 4 v 4 pvp is too much like work, as a solo player i just had it with facing stacked teams and this team shooting. Maybe they thought this format would be good for e-sports or something but personaly i thinks its anti solo player. The main reason i played alot if D1 was for pvp but i'm having zero fun with 4 v 4. Also i can't believe they copied/pasted so many weapons, armor and even the character customization. Time to play other games and hope anthem is miles better than destiny maybe that would be a goodthing for this franchise. Okay rant over, later.

You grind loot to be able to grind loot for a raid which you grind for loot. While I sit here and wonder what's the point of grinding loot when it means nothing... Seriously why am I grinding for pretty much cosmetics at this point.

2 RepliesThe game is set up for casuals to pick it up, play it once or twice a week and then feel like they accomplished something. So that when the expansions come out, they buy those too. When Destiny 3 comes out they buy that as well. Bungie figures the that the hardcore type player will always buy the game even if the very end game content is lackluster. And even if they didn't, the hardcore resembles a very small niche of the gaming market. Ever since D1 Vanilla, everything Bungie has done has shifted this game away from the hardcore to the casual. D2 is the culmination of that effort.

5 RepliesDestiny 2 is fundamentally the worst looter shooter on the market. It has great artwork and gunplay but that's it. Warframe, Borderlands, Destiny 1, and EVEN The Division offer way more weapon variety, build options, activities, and replayability. An argument can be made "well D2 just came out" which is true. But unlike other looters Bungie is forcing the player to play on their terms with static rolls, builds, and a worthless mod system. I loved D1 but I need a reason to grind with options to experiment.

1 ReplyThe game is a re skin. That's it. 3 years to make this? It's crap.
-
1 ReplyIt almost feels as though we went back 3 years..

I'm usually a "let things stand on their own merit" kind of guy, that's why I hate when people discount remakes before they even come out or endlessly compare them to the original, but I'm having a hard time doing that with Destiny 2. The fact is if you compare the vanilla experience of Destiny 1 to the vanilla experience of Destiny 2, Destiny 2 is better in almost every way but if you look at Destiny 2 as a sequel its an utter failure. It does not expand on the game in any meaningful way. The most basic things I'd expect from a sequel like this are the following. 1. At least one new class. 2. At least one new race. 3. Three new sub classes for each class. 4. The developers to address major complaints from the first game. They have done exactly none of these things in Destiny 2.

Returning players are complaining because • we're forced to play game modes we don't like just to play competitive • there again is no game mode selection • two game modes for crucible are missing • strikes don't rotate evenly enough because bungie wanted to prolong the life of the game and now because the playlists force you to play the same things constantly , I and many players have only done 2 or three of the 5 strikes • trials is so easy to glitch and take advantage of that people are charging money for flawless carries • the raid itself on the pleasure gardens and calus cp has so many bugs that can end a perfect run due to something in game messing up rather than a player mistake • 4V4 crucible doesnt make sense without 4 player patrols because it makes transitions harder, raid groups can't split easily unless they all part ways • you can't see squad locations on the map. • IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE TO HAVE 4V4 AND NOT ALSO FFA, 3V3 AND 6V6 GAME TYPES IN CRUCIBLE TO CREATE SEEMLESS TRANSITIONS INTO OTHER ACTIVITIES We ALSO CANT PLAY EXACTLY WHAT GAMEMODE WE WANT TO IN CRUCIBLE

If you want a "horde mode", go play Gears of War. 😔 If you want large team battles... go play World of Warcraft. Stop trying to shape Bungie's game. ---------------------------------------------- The issues that need to be addressed here are the exploits that players use to shortcut through the hardships of end-game and sessional activities as guardians work towards becoming the best. Other issues that need to be addressed are about bug fixes, and Bungie seems to be in top of it more than they used to. If anything we should focus on as a problem of Bungie's it is the lack of enforcement on the toxic players of the community. The ones that go around I the crucible and harass others to get hem pissed off. Who send hate messages. The players deserve to be permanently banned on their account or for a standardized amount of time. Issues: • Bugs • Player implemented Exploits • Heavier Repercussions upon toxic players who hinder others experiences in the game. (No I don't believe in utopia.) I'm just fed up with seeing people harassed when they work harder in their life outside of the game and don't need that shit... Let me say it again... THEY DONT NEED THAT SHIT

I mean give the game a little time and see what happens, hasn't even been out a month lol who knows what they have planned..agree a lot.of stuff should've already been in the game but I'm still going to save my final judgment for a little longer

6 RepliesYeah scrubs say D1 is better but never played vanilla destiny where you needed 40 ascendent materials per legendary item and only could get 2 a day or like 15 from the raid
-
This is a pretty good summary and is a balanced assessment. On the upside, a lot of these issues are easy to fix. D1 had more embedded structural problems that took a while to fix. As you say, returning features from D1 and popping them into D2 will close a few of these out. Overall I'd say D2 is better than D1 but I concur that some things that were 'fixed' in D1 got unfixed in D2. This is either Bungie not listening or not caring, or them wanting to go in a different direction but not explaining that clearly to us

I think most of us overlooked MANY of the glaring flaws as a Bungie learning curve. Over the years we see improvements. D2 is a announced and it is revealed we will be stripped of almost all progress. I for one thought, well maybe it will be worth it because of how much they will improve it. D2 comes out. No ability to customize the button layout (do we really need a sit emote?), No separate button for melee and melee ability, no actually in game Grimiore (and no scannable don't count), no new character appearance options (yea, that's a crazy one to me), a mute character, no useful in game map, no organized vault, no meaningful player interactions such as trading (at least between a fireteam). All of that are things that we have been asking for, for years and honestly should have been in game been in the game in 2014. This isn't new, extravagant features. It's basic stuff. So here we are in 2017. We lost our progress, emotes, emblems, ships, shaders and glimmer for what... Clamber ability (which was much needed), some weapon position changes(debatable if that was a good thing), reorganized abilities(also debatable), a much improved public event system and.... Yea, that's why D1 players are pissed.

I’m looking forward to the first dlc when they take away our exotics again and then choose a few to let us get back for the fifth time. It’s going to be great to have all that new content to grind.
-
No same complainers from d1 they never left and they will always complain. They are a bunch of Hilary supporters
-
-
I have yet to open a duplicate exotic and I have opened probably around 25 maybe I'm just lucky...it's across a titan and hunter also so that might be why also

6 RepliesDestiny 2 needs a monthly subscription instead of dlc and new sequels. But they wont do that because everyone would leave because they're ripping us off.

Edited by Clint: 9/24/2017 9:47:42 PMAgreed! I loved destiny 1.. Destiny 2 has so many amazing things going on for it. But seriously where are all the amazing things they added to the first game? Why can't I choose missions or strikes? Why can't I choose crucible games? Why no specific loot for strikes or lost sectors? Why put a time that kicks you out of the nightfall? We had a limit in the first game, but all it did when it ran out was reduce your rewards. The areas, the look, the shooting, the story.. All fantastic..
-
10 RepliesYou guys gotta give them a chance. The game hasn't been out for that long. And yes, they've changed things around, but it's still an all around good game. The story, compared to D1, is way better. They did right on that.
-
47 RepliesThe story? For one - we lose the light and get it back within f*ckin minutes. Instead of searching out caches and splinters from the explosion to get back abilities and start clawing our way back...... It's blam!!! Straight back. Then the raid - the most anticipated part of destiny. Hmmmm how can it be worse than skolas is beyond me.

1 ReplyWho's looking forward to the "new" factions on tue, probably doing the same thing as you already do for almost every other faction, for rehashed rewards that are already in the game,or mebe an exotic gun or piece of armour that was in D1,yay.
