Why would you waste your Exotic slot on a Heavy weapon?
A bad week for Xur.
Save and wait til next week for a Primary or buy some Gauntlets.

So, I've been thinking about this for a few days, because I wanted to make sure I gave it a chance. That being said--Buy the Merciless from Xur either way, because the other 3 items can be gotten in an hour from the Campaign. But, here's the trick. DPS is only an important number if the boss dies while you have ammo left. DPS becomes useless if you can't kill the boss before needing to reload. Why? We'll refer to damage as x and seconds as y. So, DPS is really just x/y. We'll use simple numbers to show the math. In the case of Merci, if x=100 and y=4, we have a DPS of 25. Indicative of a gun that can do a lot of damage very quickly, before you're out of ammo. Similarly, I bring my leggo Man o' War that does more damage, slower. So, x=200 and y=8. Yep... DPS 25. Because there was no option to reammo, the leggo Man o' War contributed the same damage over a broader area of time. You would also pull the trigger on the Man o' War less. Calculating for the Merciless special, it's very easy to dump a clip and be done with it, saving 3-5 seconds of a fight, but that's 3-5 seconds of using a Kinetic or Energy weapon instead. I'd rather stack Rat Kings and get a boost I'm gonna use 90% of the fight. Especially in the hypothetical, 'Everyone stack <exotic>' world.

I'm not exactly upset. The exotics this week were pretty common, but I do like Merciless and have affectionately named it the Boss-Killer. It's named correctly

The last time I heard that, Destiny 1 was brand new, Xur came and sold an exotic heavy, and people were asking, "Why would I buy this Gjallahorn?" Which is quite ironic because this is so far, one of, if not, the best exotics in the game right now. P.S. Yes I do know it's bait, but I wanted to say it anyways.
