For real, they didn't even let anybody know about it until release. It's pretty slimy of them and honestly very disappointing since D2 is a huge improvement over D1.

I agree that it is a hard and confusing system but you could see evidence of it in the beta as you were able individually inspect pieces of armor and see that were shader slits there
-
I could tell that you can now shade individual items, but they said absolutely nothing about shaders being consumable microtransactions prior to release.
-
You don't like to individually colour your things? I prefer it over a blanket effect personally... (Also you may or may not have noticed you can now colour Ships, Sparrows and Weapons. A "one shader applies to all" system wouldn't do well here.)

Do you not even understand what I'm talking about? I'm talking about the fact that now shaders are now a consumable item only for the purpose of microtransactions. I could care less about the fact that you can now color more things because they're monetizing it. I wouldn't mind the new shading system if you could apply shaders for as long as you want which would be very easy to do with the new shading system, they do not need to monetize it so that's a bullshit excuse and you know it.

Edited by N7_Dredgen: 9/7/2017 9:30:04 PMI haven't paid for any shaders and I have over 200 in my vault right now. Obviously you're getting a little worked up because the drop rate isn't at all affected by the monetization. Cosmetics has always been the safe ground in games for microtransactions - atleast let them have that, they need a constant revenue source - and it doesn't hurt you AT ALL - if you play the game just normally you'll have more shaders than you know what to do with. They're one time use because they apply to one item. I know you def. don't develop games but logistically speaking this is better for the servers and the memory required to save your accout.
