For me It's okay. The strike boss was pretty lame. It didn't do anything then teleport 3 times? Pathetic! But the stuff before that was good but It was really long.
I would mainly say that the focus was more on the things before the boss? The things before the boss was better in my opinon. That could also explain why the boss was weak (by weak i mean bad)

I thought it was pretty good
-
It didn't feel very inverted so I switched to inverted controls, flipped myself upside-down, and played like that. Honestly, this strike hurts my neck. Bungie, plz.
-
Boring strike Bullet sponge They do a lot of improvements in TTK, yet those improvements in are gone in Destiny 2
-
Same cookie cutter bullshit

The console beta seemed to have an issue with not dropping enough heavy/power ammo, however, the PC version in my opinion didn't give enough primary/kinetic or elemental ammo. There were several moments were I ran out of ammo and nothing was dropping. Towards the end of one strike run, I literally ran out of primary and elemental ammo, with only about 5 or 6 shots left in the sniper before the game ended. I don't recall ever having that issue occur in Destiny 1, so I'm not sure why it feels that ammo is more scarce now. Overall, it plays similar to strikes in the first game, although it does feel fairly generic. I'm neutral about it -- hopefully the other strikes will have some new elements.

With so many high drops you think they would take fall damage out of the game completely :/

6 RepliesI really like the scale of the strike. The spaces were all immense and made you feel like a tiny speck in a huge world. While the final boss was nothing special I enjoyed the mechanics of the collapsing floors. All in all I thought it was one of the better Destiny strikes. If the rest of the strikes in the game maintain that standard I'll be very happy.

Boring. Bullet sponge.

Destiny 1 vanilla again :(
1 strike of 5(6)
2 RepliesWith how little heavy ammo I found throughout the beta so far, the boss is nothing more than a bullet sponge. However, I liked how the boss actually made an attempt to come and kill me and others.
That's like, the second boss in the entirety of Destiny who did that.
I'm also surprised at how linear/predictable it was. The very first time I played it (last night), I was amazed at how quickly our group ran through it. Not once did I have a "Where do I go next?" thought. Not surprisingly, there aren't any different enemies or enemy spawns on repeated playthroughs (at least they're getting us used to the boring monotony early). I kind of hope that would've changed. It would have made each run different enough to be uniquely enjoyed each time, thus making the grind a little more engaging.
NO GHOST DEFENDING. A -blam!-ing breakthrough, imo.
too much space inbetween areas and some mobs threw about to make it slightl more interesting. Its nothing we've not played in D1. 9/10 times I died getting blasted into a wall with the man cannons. This was fine the first few times, but it was less and less cute the more it happened. The 2 primary system just didn't work. The strike was overly frustrating and the boss was more sponge than actual interesting mechanics. The boss model was a reskin of Zydron/Atheon for Destiny D1. Its still follow the dot. Very linear and pretty easy (when the team didn't quit and actually used the power ammo) overall a meh and yawn

It was fun! And unexpectedly frustrating. I played the strike thrice--first time it was easy peasy, the next two times my team repeatedly wiped at the boss. The last two groups didn't seem to get the concept of balancing damage to the boss and killing adds...and the adds in that strike are a motherfricker if you stop paying attention. Sounds like other people had pretty good teams so teamwork was a lot easier. I liked that the boss actually came for me, and gave me the challenge of moving fast, jumping and cycling through weapons. I liked that my super wasn't as easily available as it often is in D1--like when I had to fight I had to FIGHT. Also liked (though that may be a strong word) that ammo seems more limited? Maybe just Heavy. Idk. Overall, it felt challenging, could have been MORE challenging, but for a first D2 strike, I was pleased.

Better than all Y1 strikes. Had a mechanic, but only during phase 2 of the boss fight. Should've had more attacks other than its gun, stomp and phase 2 AoE attack, but I liked it. It wasn't a drastic improvement, but I think it was an improvement.

1 ReplyUnderwhelming. The drill section was great but otherwise nothing new to make me think this is D2. Vehicles? Creative mechanics? Team play? Timing? It's was just wave after wave of predictable ads and a bullet sponge boss. Why not have: - A sparrow section where you have to out run something - a section where different teammates have to do different things to kill the boss. I.e. You can only damage him for a few seconds once you kill an ad. - maybe get a damage buff whilst standing in the water at the end but you take damage too. You know just something more interesting than spam trigger.

I played it several times. Me and a randy were able to 2 man it but after getting g all the weapons and strike armor for 2 characters, I was ready to play something else. I'm hoping they have a Taken and SIVA variant on hand but enough time has passed since I played the beta that I'll be ready to play it again by the time I open it up in the full game.

Edited by Seraph: 8/31/2017 6:28:34 PMFirst impressions were great. I loved the size of the play area, the pacing of the enemy encounters, the balance between platforming and fighting and also how avoiding the drills added that extra something to break up the gameplay. After many runs, I began to resent the Strike for its size ( a lesson I learnt the hard way when I would repeatedly load 30% of the way into the Strike and my teammates would be doing the section with the Drills and I'd be scrambling to catch up, then I'd get a message telling me that i was being warped to the Boss fight without having ever killed anything in the entire Strike ). I don't see it standing the test of time ( or rather repeated runs ) without becoming a chore to play through. Anyone who's played Destiny 1 extensively knows that certain players develop a certain mentality to Strikes where they just rush past all the skippable fights, their not interested in playing the activity, they just want to fight the boss and get the end of activity rewards. This particular Strike isn't going to be popular with that crowd. There is just too much repetition in Destiny and it's not the type of content that was meant to be consumed 100+ or 3-4 times in a row ( which happens a lot in Destiny ). Edit: Did not like the 3rd phase of the Boss Fight when the giant Minotaur turns into a fanatic. He constantly targets me and I don't know why. If an enemy specifically targets 1 character ( every single time ) I'd like to know why. What am I doing that triggers all of the Boss' aggro?

1 ReplyLame, repetitive, uninspired. The boss fight was yet another arena-type bullet sponge who likes setting floors on fire, so much so that I was half expecting my ghost to start screaming; "A cell! You're in a cell in the Prison of Elders"
-
2 RepliesI liked it. In general, Vex strikes are my favourite due to the variety of enemies that the Vex have. This strike was no different. I liked the inclusion of a jumping puzzle into an active fire fight. It makes the battlefield dynamic, which demands a lot more tactical positioning from the player. I think that the part where you drop down and are swarmed on a smaller platform by ads was also great. It really emphasizes how important timing is in respect to ability/super usage. The boss itself was fun. While many people didn't notice the nuances that changed with each stage, the fight was dynamic enough to keep things feeling fresh throughout the 8-10 minute fight. While the boss was a little bullet-spongey, I realize that the guardians in the beta are far from max light, so that issue shouldn't be too serious at end game. The length of the strike was nice, though I'm not sure I want all of them to be that long. As strikes go, I would say it was a solid 7.5/10.

It Was shite but that is only my opinion.
-
Like all strikes, fun once or twice.
-
1 Replywasn't all that different from Destiny strikes fight boss with 3 waves of adds. same formula just different mobs with different tactic if you can call what they do as tactics. worse part was running out of ammo at times and not having enough power ammo to do any damage worth a crap. maybe when the release happens things will change, but not really holding my breath on that. at least not anytime soon after release.
-
2 RepliesOnce D2 launches The Inverted Spire strike will be another spawn in and leave. It is SO BORING. It will be abandoned upon spawn not bc it's hard, but bc it's just boring. I truly hope the other strikes are fun bc I enjoy running strikes when I'm bored.
-
It was much more dynamic than previous strikes. There was always something happening. Looking forward to more.
-
Better than the strikes in D1.
-
1 ReplyI loved the difficulty of the Boss. I actually really liked the strike. If we get 10 or 12 of those in the full release, I'll be super happy.
-
I played through this strike more times on the Xbox beta than I did strikes in D1 which I gave up on after a month. It wasn't amazing by any means but required some teamwork in a couple of situations and enjoyable enough to try it out multiple times with some characters and to experiment with each guardian and their subclasses. I honestly can't even remember the 2 different strikes I tried in D1 to compare them but taking roughly 15 to 18 mins for this one if you don't wipe was a good timeframe for me personally and quick enough to encourage me to play multiple times over.
