I had this thought since Bungie announced D1 character gear wont transfer. This would be cool for D1 players, but not for new players to Destiny. The requirements would be, have beaten the Black Guarden mission, all DLC missions, have clocked in 100 hours. Now with that lets get into the mission.
(Mission: Darkest Day) Reports say that Rasputin is broadcasting an unknown message through all channels. Investigate the problem and put a stop to it.
(Mission Start) You land on the outskirts of the Forgotten Shores and must make your way to the bunker entrance in the building. Your ghost points out that there is no sign of Fallen or Fallen chatter on any channels. Once you make it to the bunker doors with ease, they open automaticly. You enter and make your way through the bunker till you get to a dimly lit, open room. You make your way to the center and a platform starts up and decends you down deeper. Ghost: "Where is Rasputin taking us? This area isn't on any of the layouts of the Warmind bunkers that I've seen... Maybe this is one of Caydes secret loot stashes..."
Once you make it to the bottom, infront of you is a massive room with wires running everywhere from the floor to the ceiling, monitors with data and information rapidly changing, and an cold fog lingers near the floor. In the middle of the room is a casing with unknown liquid. You get closer and realize that it's a brain casing and it's hooked up to tangles of wires and computer chips. You scan it.
(Cutscene)
Ghost: Is this, no it can't be. Guardian! This brain, IT'S RASPUTIN! I alway thought Rasputin wad a computer program created to counter the Vex time lines and defend the Earth. We need to bring this information back to the Vanguard, Ikora would kill to hear about this...
A massive explosion shakes the entire bunker and your Guardian turns towards the elevator.
Ghost: What was that?! Did the Fallen or Hive follow is in?
All of a sudden the room begins to glow and Rasputin begins to speak in Russian and (choice of language).
Rasputin: Defender of Sol, hear my plea. An enemy force of great power moves to endanger humaity. They are smart, yet brutish..."
Ghost: That sounds like... THE CABAL!
Rasputin: "I cannot help you for they have destroyed my satillites and orbital defences. All I can do is give you this information. Our darkest hour is at hand, Warrior of Light, I just hope my warnings arn't too late..."
Ghost (Slightly paniced): We need to get back to the tower ASAP! The Vanguard needs to know the Cabal are about to invade in mass!
Cutscene ends with you running to the elevator.
You reenter the mission outside of the bunker doors. The sounds of gun fire and explosions can be heard. As you run up the stairs your ghost says "Looks like the invasion has already begun!" You exit the building and everything has changed. There are craters in the ground where Cabal drop pods have landed, the foilage and buildings are on fire, and the sky has turned to a glowing crimson red. In the sky are Cabal warships and transport.
Ghost: This is insane! We need to get to the tower NOW! I'm calling our ship in from orbit.
Your objective is to fight your way through the Cabal and reach the LZ for extraction. As you get closer to the extraction in the Mothyards, you hear a ship break orbit and see your ship fly in and hover over one of 3 locations. As you near the extraction your ghost says "Hurry lets get to the ship before..." Before it can finish, a missile strikes your ship, disappearing in a ball of fire.
Ghost: "OUR SHIP! Hold on Guardian, I'll get us a cargo transport ship, it might not be as fast, but it will get us to the tower. Make your was to The Steppes for the new LZ."
Now you must fight your way through more Cabal and make your way to the Steppes. Once you make it to the extraction point, the old Cosmodrome Patrol landing zone, you must fight off 3 waves of Cabal. after the 3rd wave a cutscene plays.
Ghost: "Transport has arrived! Lets get out of here before..."
A mass of missiles can be heard and you and your Ghost turn to see a Cabal warship launching a massive volley of rockets.
Ghost: "that happens... We need to get out NOW!"
Your guardian rushes into the ship and it takes off. The camera looks back at The Steppes as you fly off camera only to see the missiles comming down, then a flash of light and explosion.
Then intro cutscene for D2 of us flying the Cargo Transport ship, this is where new D2 players will start aswell. So all in all, veteran players will get 1 story mission that excitingly begins where it all began and translate into Destiny 2. The first story mission was exciting in the Beta, but I feel this story mission would sort of draw a line between the new player who are like, what are these enemies and what do they want, and old players who know the back stories and will have heart strings being pulled knowing your visiting these old places one last time.
If you guys have any thoughts or ideas that you think are cool, leave them here. I just think having alt starts and endings in games are cool and adds replayability to games, like how Destiny has the alt versions of strikes.
(Edit)
Thanks for all the support and ideas guys, really.
Let me add one more thing. My vision is that Destiny 2 starts in 2 different ways.
(New Players) Guardians who have only heard stories and rumors of amazibg feats that legendary Guardians before them had done. It starts with your Guardian begining their adventure, only to come back from a Patrol to discover the Last Safe City is under attack.
(Old Players) Guardians who have fought back the Darkness and returned as legends. These heros brough forth the Age of Triumph to the City. With the unkown threat bearing it's fangs at the City we leave to persue a distress call from an old friend. When we return with the information, it is too late.
(Edit)
If you guys want me to do another mission, shoot me an idea, I want to keep doing these and you guys seem to like them. Just give me a topic and how it could relate to either Destiny 1 or 2s story lines.
(Edit)
Hey guys, I made a theory forum about the new trailer Bungie released. Check it out and give your thoughts and opinions.

1 ReplyVeterans are getting extra emblems that no one gives a f*ck about except the player himself.
Pre-order now to the cold heart exotic rifle
-
1 ReplyYou need to teach bungie how to make good missions. Nice job
-
1 ReplyI'm sad, I switched from Xbox to PS4....
Maybe just ask at the beginning: Did you play the original Destiny?
This sounds like an awesome idea and I would be depressed if I couldn't experience it when everyone else is!

1 ReplyEdited by LRG21: 8/19/2017 4:14:01 PMNot sure Rasputin's motive fits his character. He's only contacted us before when he was being directly assaulted/invaded (Omnigul, S.A.B.E.R). I don't think he would he would warn us of an imminent invasion. We're not allies, just a means to an end for him. Also, him being a human brain is interesting but sounds like something for the dlc rather than an alternative start for veteran players. Why lock out newcomers to an important story development?. And then there's the voice. His voice sounds very similar to princess leia asking obi wan for help. I'm not against the idea, but an alternative start would have to be a little substantial lore wise. Maybe an alternative solution would be to have your imported character coming back from their last played mode in D1. So if you were in a trials match, the ghost says something along the lines of "that was a tough passage. Some downtime would be nice in the tower", or if you were in a patrol then something like "hunting fallen for ether rods sure is tedious. Cant wait to turn these in and be done with them". So on and so forth.

3 RepliesBefore anyone throws around the word veteran take a moment and think about all the year one player that got screwed over by the very same company before making demands.
-
1 ReplyI really like this idea
-
3 RepliesWell shit I have probably 2k hours on the game but since I didn't buy RoI it means Im not a veteran.
-
2 RepliesGood idea but we could use it for all as a tutorial of sorts. Could also be the mission that gives us weapons. Supply crate of weapons at the start, and then tutorial.
-
1 ReplyGetting ahead of yourself, rasputin is the 2nd dlc.
-
Exclusive sparrow or armor for max grimoire
-
Makes too much sense, bungie will nvr use it.

1 ReplyAlt reset will be better

1 ReplySounds awesome

6 RepliesWhoa..I'll take what she's having.

2 RepliesEdited by twisted: 8/18/2017 10:16:50 PMI would rather have this than the current one.
-
1 ReplyFantastic!!!! Great idea! Be sure to post more of these throughout D2's life, they would be crazy not to consider. Great Job! 👍🏻
-
1 ReplyA little over dramatic perhaps, but not bad. I certainly wouldn't be disappointed with it.
-
1 ReplyGood story. It works.
-
6 RepliesYou don't spend vital manhours creating content that will only ever be seen by a small fraction of the playerbase.
-
4 RepliesWhy only for vets? It's not like this is a reward or anything it will just make the first mission make sense. It also doesn't really fit with the first scene or the lore. It's an interesting idea just needs some tuning.
-
2 RepliesIf this happened I would love this, but then we should atleast have the guns we have on hand and armor so I think this contradicts the idea of everything lost; because weren't the Guardians out at a festival? If possible can someone clarify for me.
-
1 ReplyI don't think so. It doesn't fit in with Rasputin personality. Plus, I think the 2nd or 1st dlc is about Rasputin. Nice story though.
-
I can't read all that. What did it say?
-
4 Replies100 hours makes you a veteran? LOL
