Why won't developers just commit to making a RPG FPS? Instead of a "shared world action adventure rpg" I mean do they want the game to be a mmo shooter looter with rpg elements? I can see trying to draw in a bigger audience. My only conclusion is that they can keep a pvp element rather than keep it open world or story driven. Without the pvp, they would have to regularly release content which costs them money. I'm hoping Anthem will be closer to what Destiny was "supposed" to be. It has crafting which seems cool, but could get old.

Game devs have to be careful how they combine the two. Because the type of gamer who likes to play RPGs is usually very different from the gamer who likes to play FPS. They have very different personalities, and very different expectations of what they want out of the gaming experience. Part of the problem that Destiny has been wrestling with is trying to get RPG gamers and FPS gamers to peacefully co-exist in the same community, while trying to meet both oft their needs. Very few games have ever been called to do this for any extended period of time....and Bungie is having to figure out the rules, and write them down as they go. Lastly, I don't get this comparison between Destiny and Anthem. What I saw in that trailer reminded me of Mass Effect: Andromeda and Warframe than it does Destiny.

Anthem won't be a rpg. Bioware has stated numerous times that they don't want to make another rpg.
