• There was a post a while back in wich people were talking about what they'd do if someone was breaking in. My favorite one was along the line of having a horse head, covered with vasiline and dancing to music...
but my answer is no.
When I was in high school, my younger sister became involved with "the wrong crowd" so to speak. Hooligan kids that did nothing but look for their next high. I was home alone after school, a couple hours before my parents would be home from work. A few of them knocked on the door to see if she was home, she wasn't. I go back inside back to playing video games. A little while later, there is banging on my door. I dont bother answering because my sister still isn't home and I really don't like those kids. The banging doesn't stop, and its really loud. I can hear a bit of yelling but can't understand it. Then those kids that were at the door come into my house, but not from the front door where the banging is, rather they come in from the door that leads to the garage. One of them says "the police are at the door." Long story short (too late, I know). . . The kids had gone into my garage where I had a pool table and some arcade games and were just hanging out there waiting for my sister to get home. I didn't know they were on there. One of them found my pellet rifle and so they went out on my front lawn and started shooting at neighbors windows. Several windows got broken at a few different houses, one of them being an old lady who got extremely scared and called the police. When I answered the door, the police did not believe that those kids were not my friends. They didn't believe that I didn't know they were there. One of the kids had hidden the rifle and all of them were denying everything. We were sat out front of my house on the curb being questioned for a long time. Finally one of the cops started to believe that these were not my friends when I told them I'd help them find where my rifle was. I found it stashed under a workbench wrapped in a tarp behind a storage box. I pointed it out to the cops who took it as evidence and I never got it back. One of the kids looked at me and said "Why'd you find the rifle?" to which I replied "Because it will help you go to jail." Technically they were all under 18 so it would have been juvie, but whatever haha. The one that admitted to doing the shooting got handcuffed and driven away. The others weren't taken. I went inside and turned off my SNES, took a piss, then decided to go look in my garage to see if anything else had been taken by those kids. When I went into the garage, the two kids who hadn't been arrested were in my garage. I was so angry that after all that, they would come back. I yelled at them to go away and they started yelling that I was an asshole for finding the rifle and getting their friend arrested until I started grabbing balls from the pool table and throwing them at them. I hit one of them in the head and it sounded awful. It made me sick to my stomach that sound. He and I were both super lucky because although it sounded bad and it obviously hurt him, it didn't seriously damage him, and it made them decide to leave. After that, I was always getting harassed by that group. They threatened me whenever they saw me, talked crap about me, there were constantly rumors about how they were going to jump me. This went on for about two years when I was a junior and they started as freshmen at my high school. I'd generally been a loner with few friends and had been bullied a lot through high school. After enough was enough I stopped putting up with it and had a reputation to just leave me alone. Not because I was a bad ass or anything, but because I wasn't afraid to make a spectacle of someone who tried to bully me. I'd draw a crowd and talk a big game as opposed to previously where I would just put up with it until I could leave with my head down. The big thing that caused rumors to spread was when this guy started bullying me. He always pushed me around and took my hat and threw it away, or in the trash, etc. It was his big thing to take my hat, I dont know why. I always wore it and he always took it, or just flipped it off of my head and then pushed me or hit me when I went to pick it up. After awhile he found out my route home from school. I'd be riding my bike and he'd be on the sidewalk and as I rode by he'd kick me or flip my hat off, try to grab it and toss it on the road, that kind of stuff. One day I saw him step out in front of me with his friends watching and I knew it would just be more of the same. So as I got closer to him, I swing my leg around to hop off my bike, took a running step and swing my bike around by the handle bars. It hit him really hard and he fell into the street. I got the bike back to its wheels, put my foot on the pedal, swung my leg over the seat and kept riding. After that, I became known as the kid who clobbered another kid with a bicycle into traffic and the bullying pretty much stopped. So when those kids got to my high school, they stopped messing with me as well after hearing about the stuff like that that I'd done. Like I said, I wasn't a bad ass, I'm not trying to make myself out that way. I just chose a few key moments to stand up and fight back so word got around about it. Anyway, that's the story of some lowlife scum and how it played out after they invaded my home.

    • Someone stole my washer and dryer at college.. Needless to say it was a frat. They had a party one night and I jacked their beer fridge and drove off in my pickup. Took it back to my place and drank their shit. Week later I pulled up with 4 of them sitting outside, got out, kicked the shit onto the curb and said, "you guys forget this." Then drove off. ..as you can tell I was hungover many days. Pretty good stock. So you can call me the Batman of refrigerator thefts

      • Never had a break in, but if someone did break in I would have a pretty bad mess to clean up, blood and whatnot. I haven't decided where to incapacitate the intruder. I'm leaning towards kneecaps, though I'll probably aim center mass.

        • Thankfully no. But if it ever happens, I hope I'm here for it. I don't want my dogs to get hurt. And chances are I'll drop him before he can figure out he just threatened the wrong gun owner.

I'm not a home owner as I am a teen, but the other day I was home by myself and a group of like 6 teenagers (17-19 age from what I saw) were knocking on the door for a full 10 minutes. I was too much of a pussy to answer it lol and I'm kinda glad I didn't, the teenagers in my area are sometimes pretty weird and suspicions. Not finna take that chance. So yeah not really theft or a break in or anything, just had me shook

        • Nah but when I lived in Phoenix, I tried to hunt a bandit. This girl I knew kept having issues with someone breaking into her condo through the 2nd bedroom window. 3 times, they broke the glass and sacked the place, probably looking for cash on the account of her being a pornstar and all. I told her it was someone in her circle. In exchange for dirt cheap rent, I moved into that bedroom and told her to tell all of her friends that her new roommate sleeps with a 12 gauge under his pillow. (I did) Nobody broke in again. TL;DR: sleep with a shotgun under your pillow. problem solved!

        • You don't know how to spell directions and you think someone who is on drugs that knocked on your door was trying to break in? LOL As for the actual question, no. We have a very active neighborhood watch system and at 32, my husband and I are the youngest on our street. I've even rented out a home for 5 years and never had problems with that either.

            • Well it wasn't my house but once I was staying in a Condo in Hawaii. The back door was open and I was in the living room with my back to the door. The kitchen was right through the door. I suddenly had a random urge to look behind me. I didn't even hear anything. When I did I saw a pitch black figure looking at me from behind a pillar. He suddenly hid behind it and I was so surprised. I didn't know what to do so I just said, "Dad?" Then two black figures dashed out the back door. They stole my mom's phone and $700 from my aunties purse. We did Find My Phone and left a message. One day we got a call and it was the apple store saying they had our phone. When they sent it it was brand new so I don't know if it was her phone, but whatever. Especially scary cause there were knives in the kitchen. Ugh.

            • My house was broken into back when I was about 22. Had nothing of value that someone could easily carry down the street. They stole my deodorant and my dirty clothes. Cops said it was probably a homeless person or someone fresh out of jail.

              • I had some men try and break into my flat before Christmas. Sleeping away in prep for a night shift and the buzzer goes (about 19:30), not expecting anyone and in bed so ignored it. Couple of minutes later sounds like someone is posting things through my letter box so i got up to investigate and as i get to the door, it pops open and 3 men are standing there! Don't think they expected to see anyone let alone a half naked woman standing there screaming so two of them turned and bolted it but one guy stayed and tried to get in, he got his arm round the door and was trying to push it open whilst I was leaning against it. I ended up biting his hand and then slammed the door on his arm and when he pulled it away i slammed the door shut, chub locked it and shouted i was calling the police. Most Terrifying situation I've ever been in. Until my boyfriend moved in i wouldn't leave lights off, couldn't sleep here and had little panic attacks every time the buzzer went or a door in the hallway shut.
