Best warlock subclasses for PvP and PvE?

Started my warlock not too long ago, and I'm trying to see which subclasses are worth my time and which aren't so good. What are the best subclasses for PvP and PvE? Thanks in advance! Edit: PvP voidwalker is so good I just might switch to warlock main. Haven't tried out sunsinger yet, but I have high hopes for it.

Radiant skin sunsinger has the highest potential to consistently generate 7 orbs, as the longest roaming super and since weapon kills count towards orb generation. Great for PvE. Just equip a raze lighter/dark drinker and go nuts. The extra armor allows you to survive things that would otherwise kill you. Run sunbreakers and max discipline for additional DPS/crowd control. Most sunsingers just run self res and sit on their supers the entire game. Useless. If you need that insurance, even in strikes, then chances are you're being carried by your team anyway. Of course it has its uses, but in most cases you're detrimental to the rest of the group.

    • I used to hate voidwalker but now it's my go to for just about everything. Nothing manacles and scatter grenades FTW.

      • Sunsinger for the noobs that need to self-res in pve. Stormtrance to be a big drop of sweat or voidwalker to spam tracking grenades on every engagement. Or Sunsinger and spam stickies

      • Voidwalker: -Scatter grenades -Nothing Manacles -Embrace the Void -The Hunger -Tier 5 discipline -Life Steal This build makes it so every grenade and super kill and any charged melee hit will immediately start health regeneration and greatly reduce the grenade cooldown through Energy Drain. With The Hunger, Energy Drain will last for 4 seconds. With Tier 5 discipline, that will recharge 4/5 of your grenade. Nothing Manacles allows for two scatter grenades and tracking on the submunitions, making the scatter grenade the most damaging grenade in the game, allowing for easy kills that start health regen and almost fully recharge that grenade. The key to this build is getting Energy Drain to activate, and allowing it to run fully. If you use two grenades back-to-back, you waste a lot of grenade charge. My tip is to throw a grenade at a group of small adds and use the health to whittle down bigger guys with your guns. If you run out of grenades, your melee will do the same thing without needing a kill. If you're out of both, Nova Bomb will do the same, but it does require a kill. I use this build in everything except challenge mode raids. It is easily the best build for a warlock, and arguably the best build in the game.

        • Every class has their own effectiveness. But everyone here doesn't understand the true dps boss damage that Sunsinger is capable of. All because people never stop running selfrez.
no one expects an offensive Sunsingers in pvp. It's hilarious. I pop my super and because they don't see 'blank has selfrez' they assume it's a goldgun or some shít.
• Sunsinger tends to be the go-to PvE choice because of three things: self resurrection, double grenades, and flame shield. It's just a really consistent, solid class. Doesn't really rely on its super for anything, it's more of a "just in case" thing. The exotic armor choices make for some interesting combinations as well. Starfire Protocol allows for you to keep using double fusions but also have Viking Funeral/Ignite for boss DPS, same with Sunbreakers except for Solars instead of Fusions. That being said, all Warlock classes are great in PvE. Voidwalkers are the most fun if you run an energy drain build; you can essentially set the class up so that grenade kills will not only heal you but give you another grenade as well. Not to mention Nova Bomb is just so fun to use. Stormcaller has the best super of the three. In fact, its super puts it at the very top in terms of wiping out groups of small enemies (add control). Nothing else even comes close. However, Stormcaller doesn't have the defensive options that Sunsinger or Voidwalker have. No shield, no life steal. For PvP, it depends. Sunsingers are back in the meta due to the double sticky grenade madness, and Nova Bomb has always been good. I don't have any recommendation for 3v3 gamemodes, but for 6v6 like Control I personally run Stormcaller. When used correctly, three or four kills a super isn't too much of a stretch.

Probably start with Voidwalker, but Stormcaller is likely the most versatile. Personally I'd try maxing out every subclass and make a decision after seeing what they all have to offer and making a build for each.

You can't go wrong with sunsinger. Nova bomb is for easy mode and for SITHS sake, lightning from your finger tips is just awesome!

              • Although I play as a hunter I can recommend stormcaller which makes you an Emperor Palpatine ripoff and allows you to spam lightening or sunsinger which basically gives you an extra life

                  • Depends on the preference I say out of all 3 I play stormcaller the least. I never liked it that much.

                  • Need more info. If you are not good and plan on raiding and such you need sunsinger with res, if you are good then voidwalker works. PVP avoid the sunsinger so nerfed

                  • Probably Voidwalker. Great exotics for both PVE and PVP, and some of the best utility in the game. Sunsinger is good, but you'll find that the super is a bit under powered and you'll most likely hold on to it rather than use it. Stormcaller is good too, but it doesn't have many exotics to really bolster it like voidwalker has.

                  • VoidWaker - Strong in both. Great exotics loads of good build options. Apart from Gunslinger, my favourite. SunSinger - Much maligned and nerfed in PvP. A lot more to this subclass than self res. Can be an amazing dps machine in PvE, not so effective but still useful in PvP. StormCaller - Can be a bit glass-jawed (easier to kill) in PvP against other supers but has maximum room-clearing capacity in PvE! With surprise on your side expect team wipes... ....oh and we can talk openly now that D2 is on the horizon, get Tlaloc (you will wonder why the best gun in the game is so 'under the radar') from Banshee, equip SunBreaker gloves for double solar grenades, Viking and Touch of Flame and destroy everything you come across.

                  • As a warlock main, the best and easiest is sunsinger You get self rez and grenades that make enemies take more damage from all sources making you slightly more useful than voidwalker or storm caller. Personally though, voidwalker is my favorite

                  • I see Nova bomb as a good super for PvP and PvE. It can wipe out adds quickly and give you some healing abilities. It also has good grenades for PvP and PvE.
