Anyone think that "weapons in another slot" will return in D2

Like no land beyond and sleeper, with this new (and frankly slower) weapons system, will there be another slot changing exotic? Or will it be too powerful?

  • I think swords might be in energy and power slots, they haven't mentioned anything about swords so far but we know for sure they are coming back. I think the one handed ones will be energy weapons and won't have an r2 attack, the two handed ones will be power with an r2 attack

    • I'm sure that D2's raid weapon will be a solar Gatling Gun in the primary slot with infinite ammo, but instead uses an overheat mechanic. Let's be fair, who hasn't wanted to use Ta' Aurc's gun?

I doubt it...and if they do, it won't be anything like NLB, Mythoclast or Universal Remote. They'll function completely differently or will be significantly weaker than the main archetype in the sequel. EDIT: However, I can see the Sleeper returning in one way or another, directly or via a spiritual successor.

      • Only if they're cool like the Vex Mythoclast and not some game breaking piece of shit like Ice Breaker or No Land Beyond

I don't consider Sleeper to be a "weapon in a different slot." The only thing it had in common with fusions is it being charged up. It was more of a different category than a fusion rifle. Also I think NLB is closer to a scout rifle than a sniper, considering how it looks like an actual rifle from older times. I'm not entirely knowledgeable on that subject.

        • Well, the Kinetic slot and the Energy slot have the same weapon types, so something like an energy auto rifle wouldn't be an exotic. It would just be an energy slot weapon. So if we see anything like this it will probably be Power weapons in the Kinetic or Energy slot, which would mean the weapon would probably have to be much weaker than other weapons of its type to balance it. Stuff like NLB and Universal Remote.

          • They did show the exotic mini gun in the primary slot but it didn't seem over powered at all and I dont recall seeing it in a heavy slot so maybe they are all primaries? Doubt snipers or shotguns end up at primaries again but fusions like vex maybe but we will wait and see

            • It'd be amazing to get to wield a kinetic, elemental, and heavy hand cannon in each slot...

            • Yes All snipers and shotguns will now appear in the power slot
if any of the Power weapons (snipers or shotguns) are put in the primary or energy slot then people would use them all the time in pvp and we will be back to how it was in D1 Do you really think Bungie went to all the trouble of redesigning the weapons slots to do this?
• Nope. If all the 1hk weapons are now considered power weapons, there's no chance of any of them bleeding into the two. primary slots.

              • Nothing that can one-shot will ever be seen in the primary slot again. But hopefully those modified heavy special weapons will come forward like the sleeper

                • Not at all, that's exactly why they've changed the slots.

                • You most likely wont see any power weapons in the kinetic or energy slots. If they do come to be, expect them to be greatly toned down versions of power weapons. Examples A shotgun that is only as effective as a hand cannon/auto rifle. or A sniper rifle that is only as effective as a scout rifle.

I think there will be and I like the idea, you can still rock a sniper in your power slot but use up your exotic spot. Not only does this make exotics more special but I feel like it will lead to much more variations to loadouts. Currently in PvE, your exotic slot is almost always going to heavy (Sword, Gjally, Sleeper). If they do this I think they need to have a decent variety of exotics so that not everyone is just using the same exotic sniper.

                • I truly hope not. Specials being equipped as primaries or as heavies was and still is a terrible idea. The horrible meta D1 will fade away with is a testament to that. What we need is for Bungie to do away with what they're planning for loadouts in D2: give us the flexible loadout of primary, special and heavy we had for PVE in Destiny 1. Then for pvp, since they can't do anything but a Halo style shooter, completely separate the sandbox and spread the maps with generic (or not) specials and heavies that spawn on timers and that are immediately lost once you run out of ammo or die. Like in Halo. Is that so. Damn. HARD. TO. DO??

It's a nice fun idea, but in reality, it's going to cause problems in attempts to promote a play style through sandbox

                  • nope, we will never have fun weapons ever again. Because screw pve, that's why.

                    • I hope not. That was a dumb concept and it would make the new slot changes for naught.

                    • It won't happen. The entire loadout system was revamped precisely to remove power weapons from play in PVP. Bringing back what amounts to exotic heavy weapons in the primary slots will simply bypass the restriction to two primary weapons. That is not going to happen. The only possibility of this happening is if it was restricted to PVE ONLY, and I would hope they would be willing to go that route. However, I highly doubt it, as it would amount to a banned list of PVP weapons - something that Bungie has wanted to avoid as well.

                      • That would probably be to powerful with snipers now being a heavy but things like vex might work.

Hope not. I think fusions should have been heavies anyway
