The current education system is garbage. How about some statistics, we've increased our spending on education by more than 300%, but our test scores remained stagnant. However, some states have decided to implement the school choice system, the one DeVos advocates for. School choice showed that it can increase test scores by 0.8%, way better than our current system. School choice allows a parent to send their student to a school outside of their district. This creates competition that creates better schools. The only risk is a bad school closing down. But school choice is proven to increase test scores and create better schools. Right now the education system is throwing tax money into a fire.

Part of me hopes they continue, but I don't intend to involve myself in any way with the public system regardless, so its demise doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. I just hope they continue tearing it to shreds so that people like you will be forced to realize that a monopoly with no relationship with the consumer (except for the one where they force you to fund it) and no incentive to produce positive results is an immoral model for education. You can bitch about the big mean President, or you can grow the -blam!- up and find an alternative to his system.

3 RepliesWhy is this so hard? Lower restrictions on businesses, entrepreneurs, and citizens, while collecting taxes for public transportation, education, and health care. Have a sizable enough defense budget to keep us safe and to assist our allies, while lowering it enough to pay for other budgets. Keep the boarder strict enough to keep illegal immigrants out, while allowing tourists and visitors. Simplify the naturalization process to encourage legal immigration.
