TIL there are people in this world who unironically cite Conservapedia
-
"For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow". The truth is hard to fathom for some.
-
Don't minorities usually have higher suicide rates per capita? It's estimated that 2-5% of the world is atheist. It's also not uncommon that families don't support them, as we know if this happens especially when growing up it can lead to mental illness.

1 ReplyIf they don't believe in God there isn't a reason to do a whole lot of things. If you don't enjoy your life and don't have something to believe in, then what's the point?

1 ReplyBeing constantly surrounded by naively happy people who believe in a delusion that you can never accept is lonely.
-
2 RepliesFun suicide fact (if there is such a thing) - studies find men with lower IQ's attempt suicide at a higher rate than their peers, while men with high IQ's commit suicide at a higher rate than their peers.

Because they get trolled and harrased by creationists.

Lot's of reasons. Religion works as a safety blanket, and atheists don't have it. Many religions condemn suicide saying eternal torment and etc. Again atheists don't have that. Many young atheists have religious families who can be quite toxic to non believers. And many "atheists" are the result of traumatic events that shatter there belief in religion.
-
The euphoria of some atheists drains away faster than others, leaving them depressed, and their fedoras without class. This leads to suicide.

because simple logic is hitting an alltime low

Because with God you can be truly happy and without you can't be. That's just the view of a person who is Christian. Obviously someone who isn't will vehemently disagree with me but that's my way of thinking.
-
Because they know videos like this exist.

4 RepliesThey simply believe there is no afterlife. You die, your consciousness is gone, you are 100% gone. Nothing but a pile of bones with dirt piled on top of you. Given this, perhaps they see no point in living if this is the end result. You will be forgotten, all your work, achievements, everything. Unless you are incredibly famous, you won't be remembered. All you will be to the world is a name on a tombstone, nothing more.
Sorry for how negative this seems, but I believe this is the answer to your post.
5 RepliesDoesn't make sense even though I follow a religion. Atheists believe the only have one life. what's the point in ending it?
-
If they are younger, maybe it's because they are shunned and sometimes even disowned by their parents. After that, it boils down to other reasons.
-
2 RepliesI assume part of it has to do with it being against the rules to commit suicide in most religions.
-
How do they know they were truly atheists when they're dead. Maybe the families didn't want people to know they were religious so said they were atheist to hide it.
-
Because life is exhausting, and trying to find things to hold on to to is difficult when you haven't had one drummed into you from birth.

intelligence breeds despair

10 RepliesBecause they have no will living in a world where everyone is so caught up in bullshit religions, religions which divide people through faiths and beliefs.
