I was really hoping ubisoft had already learned their lesson and did what they did in r6s. This game was on my radar for years and they put it in jeopardy over something avoidable.
For anyone who doesn't know, you can buy loot boxes to make your character better with real money in for honor. R6s as another ubisoft title did not include loot which gives you an advantage and it's only cosmetic loot.
R6s came out in 2015 and I would think they would have learned.
Edit: Oh boy. The downvotes begin

4 RepliesI won't down vote, 9/10 of the times I fight someone they have better gear but there is a thing called skill, and doesn't matter what gear they have no one can beat me one v one. Unless you are playing raider and just tackle me off the map. Go -blam!- your self if your that kinda person.

Actually, what u get in those boxes is based on ur character lvl, which Is raised by playing And u can only upgrade a piece of gear so much be4 u need a higher rarity, which requires a higher lvl

Edited by DEATH-DEALER-213: 2/18/2017 3:55:20 AMA person could buy all of the scavenger crates imaginable, it doesn't mean that they're going to win. They can jack up their gear score all they want but at the end of the day it doesn't mean sh*t if they don't have the skills to back up those numbers.

1 ReplyThe advantage is in Domination only, if not then all 4v4.
-
3 RepliesNot really, you could spend all the money you want straight off the bat and you'll get just low level gear, sure you'll have extra steel and whatnot for upgrading gear but you have to level your character through playing to get higher tier gear. I fail to see how that is pay to win.

Sounds like you just suck

3 RepliesThis game is not p2w and also have free dlc I think they learned from rainbow six success
how rainbow is p2w the money in rainbow six is just for custom?
2 RepliesEdited by UndeadGrizzly: 2/17/2017 4:42:01 PMThe only argument for P2W in For Honor is that someone spending real money might be able to keep champion status on more frequently than someone who is just grinding steel the old fashioned way, but it isn't hard to grind out 2000 steel for three days of it. I can't insert the game for the first time, drop $50 and have an advantage in any way except for the champion status XP bonus. If I tried to buy 100 loot crates thinking I'd get super awesome gear, I would end up with a whole lot of trash. You won't get anything worthwhile from those boxes until you've reached the right rank, and you can't buy reputation ranks. #Debunked If there's something obvious that I'm missing just let me know.

Looks like someone doesn't know what "pay to win" means.

1 ReplyDoesn't matter much to me. I've seen people with the 30+ gear score get smacked
-
I would agree except the buffs you get from gear don't make enough of a difference to make you OP.
-
Yup, absolutely true!!

12 RepliesEdited by Lord Headass: 2/17/2017 2:17:25 PMPay to win would mean you can pay for an advantage over others.... You can still earn all the gear in the game by playing the game. It's pay to not grind not pay to win. Also, gear stats aren't game changers.... you still need to be good at the game, the stats wont save you.

2 RepliesGear is purely cosmetic in duel and brawl

6 RepliesDude, steel and scavenger creates are so easy to get. It's not pay to win if you can get the things easily from playing two or three matches
