This video was posted today by True Vanguard on his YouTube Channel. It shows EVERYTHING that is wrong in The Crucible with regard to the imbalance between player speed, augmented durability skills...and the killing power of primaries.
In the video, you're seeing the lengths that one of the best players in the game has to go through SIMPLY TO STAND HIS GROUND against a Juggernaut/skating/shotgun Warrior. One who is basically just bum-rushing him from mid-range, (when Vanguard makes his effort to take him out) and making no effort to doge his fire.
This video shows why Bungie will NEVER be able to nerf shotguns enough to fix this problem. Not when a Titan skater can charge at you from the entire length of that back courtyard on Bannerfall...and NONE of the game's primaries can do enough damage to kill him before he reaches shotgun range.
Effectively making a Matador 64 into a mid-range weapon that can dominate what are SUPPOSED to be the game's mid-range weapons.
The game's primaries are so weak, that the only reliable counter seems to be what are basically TWO special weapons: Pop the shield with a No Land Beyond...and then hose the guy down with a side arm. ....and that's once again, in the hands of one of the game's best snipers.
To those who want to say, "Oh but the game will have a CoD TTK."
This video is showing you that the game ALREADY has a CoD TTK...and that shaving a few feet off of Matadors range....or adding a few frames to its handling won't solve this game's fundamental problems.
Edit:
This video linked on another thread addresses the same DPS problem....but from a different perspective...and reaches the same conclusion.

4 RepliesEdited by FrenetiCreature: 1/5/2017 3:41:25 PMCan I just ask this though, (not being sarcastic or a smart-@ss), but seriously, does anybody in this game actually just stand there in one spot while they're being rushed by a juggernaut? I mean, whether it's a juggernaut or hunter, is anyone actually just standing there in one spot while they're being rushed? It's just, I'm willing to bet that, even the worst players are at least strafing, or back-pedaling, when someone straight-up rushes them from the front like this. Also, unless it's a really good player, and they're really good at keeping their shield up until that very last moment, most juggernauts will ready their shotgun too early, dropping their shield, and giving you the ability to just Matador their face. You'll trade a lot in that scenario. But, the video didn't show where you can charge right back at the juggernaut and slide+shotgun them, because it throws off their timing. They have to drop their shield, and aim down to shoot you. Sliding towards them can make that timing harder for them. You'll also trade in this scenario a lot too, but shotgun to shotgun fights usually end in a trade anyway. I hate it when people do this to me, when I'm playing as a juggernaut. I'm not saying juggernauts are easily overcome, but that's the whole point to the ability though. Making it easier for them to get close to people in a straight line. I'm a hunter main, but when I run my titan, I've always used juggernaut, even when shoulder charge was the "big thing", and sometimes it works out, but sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes, even when you come from around a corner and surprise them, your enemy has good timing and shotguns you right when your shield to drops on its own, or they run, or jump, strafe, back-pedal, whatever. But most commonly, you're being team-shot by 2 or 3 enemies at the same time. Even jugg shield doesn't stand-up to that very long at all. I'm playing in what is probably the lowest tier of skill in the crucible (just check my stats, you'll see for yourself, I'm in almost the lowest tier), and even being in the lowest skill-tier; I honestly can't say that I've ever come across a situation where it's just one enemy, who just stood there in one spot like, "Oh, I'm just gonna stand here in this one spot and try to take out this guy that's coming at me really fast with a shield." But, then again, I've also never just started rushing someone from as far away, and in a straight line, as the guy in this video did. I usually start from around a corner, and a lot closer to my enemy. But, even at closer ranges, I've had my shield melted by fast RoF autos, especially when DoP was popular. That thing made my shield almost useless sometimes. Also, suppression grenades have stopped me in my tracks. I hate those dang things. Anyway, like I said earlier, I'm not saying that juggernauts are easy to beat, but if they were, what would even be the point to having the shield? To look pretty while it's up? All I'm saying is, I honestly don't think anyone is just standing there in one spot; unless they're in a firefight with someone else, not paying attention to the juggernaut, and the juggernaut is flanking them, or they surprise them from around a corner; hoping they have the perfect timing to get the kill, before the juggernaut shotguns them. Also, Pocket Infinity loves juggernaut shields. It thinks they're a very tasty appetizer, right before the main dish. Omm-nyum-nyum-nyum-nyum! I wish they'd bring it up to year 3 light levels.
On a side note, if you're playing as a juggernaut, and you do happen to decide to rush someone, who just stands there and dances, or just points at you... stop and run the other way if it's a striker, or a voidwalker. Those insidious b@st@rds... they've got plans for you.
5 RepliesThe last time I played I think shotguns were nerfed so many times and yet there are still problems now?

5 RepliesStarting to wonder... I was in Clash today, trying to get primary kills for the Shaxx bounty, but kept dying. Then I pulled my fusion rifle, and suddenly I was a beast.

2 RepliesYou mention TV and hes good but he doesnt complain about what people are using. You have missed the point of the video, how to deal with someone with the titan shield. Shotguns arent the problem here (because i feel you are salty at people who use them) its the shield. TV doesnt complain about the meta he just accepts it and and finds put what works at what doesnt. I dont think i have seen TV use a clever dragon. Dude please dont spread BS about TV, he doesnt complain and neither should you.

42 RepliesEdited by Its Prolific: 1/6/2017 8:10:32 PMYou're an idiot..backpeddle with virtually any combo works fine for me..I'm so sick of you sanctimonious morons crying nerf on shotguns..they've already been nerfed to the ground..all this video depicts is that a shotgun is lethal in close quarters...so it's working as intended. Now shut the -blam!- up

19 RepliesBetting you right now that once juggernaut gets nerfed, people will start complaining about max armor.
-
This game absolutely DOES NOT have a CoD TTK, don't be silly mate
-
3 RepliesJust evade and shoot. Standing still is stupid and proves nothing
-
1 ReplyWhy is it that Titans take hits when the other two classes have better Kill Death Ratios? You guys complain about Titans way too much when you probably couldn't use one yourselves. Stfu.

14 RepliesHow about movement stagger? Taking damage slows or redirects (i.e. pushes) your movement in the direction of the fire. You know...conservation of momentum and all? Shotgun rushers get slowed by ongoing fire, giving you more time to take them out if they are trying to rush you from across an open field. If they come at you from close range you're probably dead...as should be the case....but mid range rushers get stopped in their tracks from constant fire before they get within range. No nerfing of shotguns, no CoD time to kill. Just Newtonian physics.

3 RepliesEdited by Cheshire Cat: 1/6/2017 12:59:19 PMOh look, Bungie hasn't replied to an actual feedback post....

Edited by xOmegaMax: 1/6/2017 1:13:41 PMI don't have PS plus alot so I haven't played the Crucible at all really but when I do, I only use an auto rifle and I've gotten top of the leader board plenty of times...

2 RepliesThe only thing this proves is stationary targets are easy to kill, whether you have a shotgun or not. And ghost bullets are, in fact real.. Bungie grab your proton packs and bust them ghosts
-
6 RepliesIm sorry but that was pretty stupid. he waited until the titan had closed the gap by about half until he started shooting. Also was standing in the same spot.
-
2 RepliesI don't understand the problem with juggernaut shields, I rarely have a problem with them. If you keep moving they have to stop to change direction which drops their shield. If their coming straight at you like this a little movement and good timing and you can time your shot pretty easily. Timing your shot is easier that he describes, it's likely their only going to shoot to kill, if your within his range he's within yours.
-
Though technically if you were able to kill like in CoD you'd be able to mow multiple people down with your primary.

5 RepliesEdited by kroppin: 1/6/2017 7:31:46 AM
Kind of/Completely unrelated, but-
I just want to say that if Jugg does get a nerf, then I'm calling it that invis-shotgunning bladedancers running shadowjack (and possibly khepri's sting) are gonna be the next topic of hate. (Ehh, maybe not as much hate, but still) Juggernaut has remained almost exactly the same ever since the 2015 December Class Tuning Update, yet it only started receiving this massive amount of hate when RoI came out. Primaries never really got drastically stronger or weaker over this span of time (minus TLW nerf & the rise and fall of Doctrine); shotguns just became more preferred after the RoI Weapon Balance Update came out where snipers were nerfed. For a significant portion of Y2, the forums were heated with controversy on the topic of Shoulder Charge and whether it was OP or not, despite it remaining unchanged since pretty much the beginning of the game. As to why it was considered OP, I'm not entirely sure; maybe because it was just a hyper-agressive skill that was used when people actually used snipers and couldn't counter them efficiently, or that most titans used that skill. Eventually, Bungie caved in to the nerfherders and nerfed Shoulder Charge a bit before RoI, "because when combined with the Memory of Jolder artifact, it would become "too much.""
I bet most of you now would prefer going against shoulder charge than jugg shield, wouldn't you? I personally would. Way easier to counter.
Since shoulder charge and snipers were nerfed, shotguns, which were tied with snipers in terms of specials in Y2 imho, became the preferred or "best" special, along with the playstyles that support said specials, especially with the return of matador. With shoulder charge no longer being a "viable option," the next useful perk in the skill tree, Juggernaut, was chosen, since it just perfectly suited the oncoming shotgun meta. Stormcaller amplitude melee complaints and hate, which were already kind of there before RoI, were then intensely amplified (see what I did there?) with the arrival of the weapons update since the shotgun meta nicely complimented its shotgun-melee playstyle. From this pattern of nerfs and rising metas, I just see that people will complain and argue against just about anything that seems unfair (whether it actually is or not), even if it's been in the game, unchanged, before anyone actually complained about it; especially if it involves the meta. This either fixes problems that weren't previously noticed or just waters down the game and gameplay even more. I think that in the next class balance update, Juggernaut and Amplitude are getting nerfed for sure. There are tons upon tons of people calling for Bungie to "do something about that [stormcaller's] melee range." The same goes for juggernaut, maybe to an even greater degree. Once those things get nerfed, people will look for the next scummy/effective tactic to utilize shotguns, since we are in a shotgun meta. (knowing Bungie, they'd probably see the 'buff primaries' posts and buff 'em all by like .04% or something that's not really going to change much) This tactic, invis-shotgunning, isn't as popular as jugg shield or sniper shotgun melee, but it's still as scummy (Not sure if it's as effective tho), and I'm willing to bet that once those other shotgunning playstyles become "obsolete," people will gravitate towards this one and make it the new thing to hate. But then again, I might be completely wrong. Who knows? This was just some wild speculating.
Lmao, I didn't expect for it to get this long.
TL;DR: Jugg Shield and Amplitude are most probably going to get nerfed in the next balancing patch. The next scummy, but not as known shotgun tactic, invis-shotgunning, is going to become popular and be the next thing to hate (I think).

5 RepliesEdited by roman_emp85: 1/6/2017 9:05:36 AMNot this video. Juggernaut isn't that imposing. Wombo-combo, shadestep shotgun are worst. If Bungie nerf Striker again or lightning grenade, I will leave this stupid game full of crybaby hunters and warlock who have every ****ing privilege in pvp. It has been the same b.s. since year 1. Warlock have a stupid melee that extends well beyond the shotgun range, nerf that. A warlock super chain 2-3 at once and last a stupid amount of time with transcendence. Smoke has a ridiculous radius, and shadestep shotgun is cheap, easy, and brainless. Skip grenades are also absurd. They chase you forever. Why do warlock and hunters get grenades that chase you and titans don't? And why do warlocks and hunters whine when they have every stupid privilege and advantage in pvp. If you nerf lightning grenade, I want to see void grenades nerfed on the Nightstalker. It has the same cone and last a stupid amount of time with lock down. When combined with smoke, it's much more lethal than a lightning grenade. I hate that all is decided in these forums.

RELEASE THE SHEEP!

12 RepliesThe problem isn't shotguns, it's the fact that Titans are the fastest class in the game and also have the highest armor. Ontop of being able to have things like jug shield.

5 RepliesEdited by ???: 1/5/2017 11:36:01 PMYou know who could be the perfect enemy for shotguns if you buffed them? Auto Rifles, Sidearms and Hand Cannons.

3 RepliesThis game having cod ttk is the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. Unless guns are killing like tlw did in year 1, we are far from cod ttk, at least primary wise. What this game needs is for shotguns to go back to being the beasts they were, with shotpackage. Snipers need to go back to doing questionable things they once could do, and fusions should map people once again. And on top, ALL primaries should go back to how they were in their prime state.
-
Primaries need buffs because they're primaries, that's the gun we're supposed to primarily use (cough cough matador users)
