Please bump if you agree with what is said below. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed.
-------------------------------------------------
One of the biggest problems with Destiny from day 1 has been the lack of story and in game lore, and that's still the case. So why is Bungie focusing so much on all of the PvP feedback and not really doing much in PvE. Yeah, they're fixed some PvE problems, and that's great, but this game has become much too focused on PvP.
Destiny was not meant to be a mainly PvP game, and sadly that's what's happened. If we truly want Destiny 2 to be an improvement, the focus must be on PvE. The original idea of Destiny, the one that built massive hype and won over E3 when it debuted was a game full of exploring, fighting mysterious enemies of the darkness and saving humanity, not an idea of a broken sandbox full of sweaties taking money from less skilled players just to win some PvP matches to get rare gear. That's not what this game was meant to be, nor what it should be.
The potential is still there. Destiny could be a game changer, a standard of excellence that other developers would strive to achieve. It could be great. But none of it happens unless attention is taken away from PvP, not completely, but taken away and put towards a great story, mind blowing lore, and an amazing PvE experience that's worth coming back to again and again.
Side note: If PvE and PvP tuning was done separately, I believe PvE players would feel less neglected.
EDIT: Thank you for all of the support, this is amazing. I hope it's enough to get recognized by Bungie so they realize what the community really wants.

Doubt it would happen Creating content takes more resources than just fine tuning something. The pvp attention is them just fine tuning stuff, rather than creating stuff. This rate is pretty much what im expecting of them in destiny 2
-
This game was advertised towards a PVE game. This game should be 85% PVE and 15% PVP

Agreed

22 RepliesConsidering the destiny franchise was supposed to be PvE, the introduction of pvp, has massively affected PvE. If a weapon in pvp is op, the weapon is nerfed and is then affected in PvE. Ever heard an ultra captain complain about the Thorn? Ever heard a vandal say the melee is too strong? PvE questlines that have pvp as part of them? Pvp and PvE needs to be separate in D2 as well as the many suggestions already listed.

Agreed whole heartedly. Add more RPG elements to give us more playability. Look how good FFXV is..highest selling FF game ever. It's not perfect, but the replay ability is great.

Agreed. However there needs to be more mission variation to go along with the pve content. For example. Ships do MORE THAN JUST LOADING SCREENS!!! Imagine a space battle with a Fallen ketch. Than boarding said ship to finish off the Fallen archon priest within. Or actually flying to destinations or flying in the solar system in general. Bungie. Everyone here has given you the time, ideas, and motivation to produce the game we all deserve. And not the one you and your constituents released 3 years ago. Don't screw this up. This is your last chance.

Most companies have a quality control team with quality developers to create quality content. To make you feel like you are playing a quality game. In return for the quality game you are supposed to give quality feedback to the quality content creators to motivate them to keep making more quality content. If you feel like you have not received the quality you think deserve than you can ask for better quality content creators. But that can be difficult since everyones opinion on quality is different.

Man I agree with post so much.

3 RepliesOr maybe if xur, 3oC and hoarding engrams for DLC's weren't a thing we would be able to enjoy PvE content for more then a few weeks

I do agree. PvP is very fun, but in my opinion it shouldn't be the driving content. It seems like it is right now because when the PvE content gets stale or repetitive, the Crucible, Iron Banner, and Trials become the only source of content that can bring excitement. I think incorporating a sprawling open world full of exploration, back story, side quests, meaningful NPC interaction, and an actual narrative to tie all of this together will keep people interested. The Witcher 3 is a game I can go back to time and time again. I still haven't finished that game, but every time I visit there's places to explore, side quests with interesting stories to delve into, and a world that feels connected and alive. It's all rooted in the story and lore. Destiny has rich lore. If it were just delivered in a way that showcases it, and alongside a captivating story involving our character that actually makes us care for the characters we interact with, then it could be a show stopper.

When Destiny was announced, i hoped it would be the first mmorpgfps game. It could have been, if Bungie had the balls, to build such a game. The game they made is not bad. It's fun to play. Otherwise i wouldn't still play it. But it's only a shadow of what could have been. I hope, that Destiny 2 will be more of the game, they showed us in 2013.

3 RepliesIt needs to be 2 fold. Every time there's an update, I love playing the pve content. However, once that gets stale, pvp gets started. Pvp is the longevity of destiny in my opinion. It also all depends on how quickly you get the pve done.
-
Yep more for PVE patrol like it was in year one

Destiny 2 should be nothing but increasingly difficult strikes and raids. If I want pvp I'll go play Cod or Overwatch. Destiny has something neither of those titles can touch: raids. Let's get more in depth, mechanically driven, teamwork-requiring raids. Otherwise there is no point for me. Ps, bring back nightfalls.
-
I have high hopes for this. If Destiny 2 doesn't grip me within the first 2 or 3 days its going back for a refund, and I will call it quits with this series. Too much touch and go from the devs.

It kind of feels like bungie isn't really trying. The only great thing Destiny has its its gameplay. They could have added cinematic quests like WarFrame that would explain why we're doing whatever we're doing but they don't. Playing WOTM I've noticed how there's a lot of things that could be explained through story, cutscenes, or a conversation between our guardians and the vanguard but none of that is there. None of the missions we do are covert, so it's not like they aren't watching what the Guardian is doing in a raid. We can partially blame destiny's game engine for the broken sandbox. Hopefully, they'll be using a new game engine for D2. I'm going to wait and see what Destiny 2 has in store before making a purchase. If D2 is going to be anything like years 1-3, I'll pass.
-
They won't though. They just want to bring in the FPS CoD players, so they'll always focus on PvP.
-
-
They haven't shown the ability to get ANY content pvp or pve...what makes you think it would change? Destiny 2 is DOA.
-
1 ReplyDiablo 3 with the combat of destiny would be a perfect combo. I really dislike the way loot works in destiny, 3oc, and xur.
-
2 RepliesPlay overwatch

Quality?
Now Xylar was QUALITY!
It's not the lack of story; it's the lack of a quality narrative and good storytelling elements. The original game started off with an amazing introduction opening scene, which would have been amplified with narrative from the Grimoire card that talks about when we encountered the Traveler. Then, the Speaker's speech is terrible. The rest is just terrible dialogue, crappy storytelling and lackluster missions that are all practically the same mission if not the same mission. The first two strikes have the same beginning...I think the Nexus and Cerberus Vae may also be incredibly similar to each other. The next game needs its narrative to be better than TTK/ROI and to be even more compelling with quality dialogue, npc interactions, and much better missions. The Rise of Iron and Taken King did improve. Our character also needs more dialogue and actual development. We need better enemies with more varied attack patterns. They might as well be walking targets or walking health bars. They only become difficult when they're great in number and spam their abilities.
