I was playing Crucible the other day, trying not to suck, and the map happens to be Floating Gardens.
I was running for life from a Bladedancer, when I noticed (probably a bit late to see this :P) that there's a river of radiolaria (the liquid stuff in the Vex's stomachs) running ALL THROUGH the map!
Both ends of the river of radiolaria fall off the opposite ends of the map, which makes a sorta Vex gut juice waterfall. How nice. At both ends of the river where it drops off the map, there's a big pile of dead, broken Vex. On BOTH ends.
This really peaked my interest about the Floating Gardens.
Any theories or ideas, or something that I obviously don't know?

6 RepliesI think they're gardens. Gardens that float. Floating gardens. But that's just speculation

Looking at the architecture and certain features, like the statues (which commonly appear in places of vex 'holy' ground or 'ritual sites'), I'd say it might be something to do with vex sacrifices. Vex sacrifices aren't uncommon, there's the public events and the sacrifices in the vault of glass. It could a sort of shine, where some vex are killed or kill themselves.

Floating Gardens Black Garden The Vex just want to be left in peace so they can cut their grass and look after their plants. No wonder they are pissed off with all the guardians running through killing them and blowing shit up Leave the Vex in peace with their horticulture
I was running for life from a Bladedancer
I just wanted to ask you a question but my super hadn't expired yet, sorry about scaring you.

1 ReplyOh? Time to investigate with private matches!
-
It could be a decommissioning unit, where malfunctioning or outdated vex chassis are disassembled and their radiolaria (did I spell that right?) is to other locations to be put in new vex bodies.
-
Omg confirmed the liquid is Vex ejaculate.
Why the f*ck is this in #lore
1 ReplyHuh. If only there a place. Where Bungie talked about this stuff. Possibly even before the content was released. Hmmm.

3 RepliesEdited by Pound My Mochi: 12/23/2016 1:29:01 AMit's not floating. there is a giant vex holding it up.

A shitty PvP map
-
It is mentioned in the grimoire that it may be a place where the Vex organism (the liquid) recharges their mechanical bodies.
-
Vex waste treatment facility.
-
Vex gas station lol

Recycling Center of the Vex, Maybe? I guess that's how the precursors became the Vex we see everyday?

In one of the back corners of the map, you can see the Spire on Venus. :)
-
It could be some kind of "secret elephant burial ground" thing, or a sacred place to the Vex where they preform sacrifices?
-
The answer is in the name
-
Vex recycling plant. The fluid probably goes to where more Vex are created
-
The Vex's attempt at creating another Black Garden but on the surface...? :/ Would the explain the minotaur statues and the design.
-
Its based on a map that was scrapped prior to launch. I forget the name, but the map was a Vex Graveyard of sorts. Floating Gardens is probably a Vex Graveyard as well.
-
This a serious question?
-
I got 3 theories: 1-it's a vex graveyard of some kind (the site of a massacre of tons of vex, or where they teleport to after they die, or some such thing) 2- it's a sacrificial site for the vex where they use time travel to make time duplicates and endlessly sacrifice themselves (one vex in a timeline goes to that spot in the garden and sacrifices itself, then the vex send a message to that same vex a few seconds before it originally went back to the garden telling it to come back sooner, while in the garden itself the radiolaria from the original sacrifice still remains. Thus 1 vex worth of radiolaria become two). This in turn yields them the ability to essentially create an exponentially endless stream of radiolaria by manipulating time, which means infinite vex without any of them actually being duplicates of each other 3- the level itself is a giant vex *maybe some combination of these? I dunno I'm just guessing here

1 ReplyBungie actually gave a bit of backstory on the map just before ROI. I believe they said it's where Vex take the corpses of fallen Vex and set them in that white liquid to let their data join back up with the network. That liquid is actually data.

It's gardens that float........message ends

You do know that WE captured this arena from the vex right?
