I'm not a fan of the series by any means, but it seems like every game they've made has gotten worse and worse reviews/sales. Plus, I hardly see anyone on my friends list playing it any more, if they are it's the remaster and not the new one.
Is the series "dead?"

Did "dead" suddenly get a different definition? Considering that 3 different Cods are in the top 10 most played games on XBL I'd say no. Even with it selling 50% less than Bo3 it still sold more than most games.

Hope so
-
Pokemon outsold it supposedly So...Take from that what you will.
-
When I'm eating it, yes. Or at least I hope so.

-
Unfortunately no. It has too many players to be even close to being dead. Has the quality dropped according to the concencous of most gamers? Yes.
-
It may not die for other people, but after IW, I've personally stopped playing it. Unless Sledgehammer comes in with an unexpectedly awesome game next year (AW was their first game, I'm willing to give them another chance), then CoD will eventually die.
-
The future is death
-
The only thing that can save CoD at this point is to take some time off and develop a new engine. When I see a cod game it just feels generic and the same as the last game.

13 RepliesYes and Activision as a whole will finally die very soon. :')

I became distant from Black Ops 3 before the final DLC. The loot boxes were terrible in that game.
-
Um, no. Not even close. It's definitely not what it once was, speaking in terms of both quality and sales. But it still has the 14 year racist market on lock down.
-
As long as it is casual friendly it'll sell. Though BF1 is casual friendly and it sold great.
-
1 ReplyCOD is that last turd that's hanging out that refuses to let go
-
The series has lost 50% of its sales from last year but it still made bank. It will be irrelevant in two years.
-
It was always deadededed to me
-
No, but it's not the powerhouse that it once was. However even in it's weakened state it puts out numbers that some of the other companies wish they could do.
-
I wouldn't say it was dead. I would say it's loosing popularity though.
-
Unfortunately it will still be here after we're long gone.
-
No but it is definitely dying
