Why do I think Auto rifles need a buff? Well, to be blunt, they're ass. I mean they are hardly useful in their intended range. I challenge you to take out a slightly-skilled shotgun user with an auto rifle. Bonus points if it's a Mid or Low ROF AR. Daily Double Bonus points if the opponent is using a matador. Since the Doctrine was nerfed into the ground, I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a match with an AR equipped only to end up switching back to my Hawksaw. And I'm not saying that I'm not good without the Doctrine. My favorite AR is actually the ARI-45. But I'm going to use the Doctrine as an example since that's the gun people automatically want to use as a reason to keep ARs weak. Pulse Rifles are more effective at close range than ARs. I've actually stopped shotgunners by hip firing my Trials Pulse Rifle. What kind of ass-backwards shit is that? "So Phresh, what kind of buffs do you suggest?" Oh I don't know. Damage would be nice. And none of that .0004% bullshit. I mean something noticeable yet non-OP. If they are so effective at close range then make them consistently effective at close range. "Gee Phresh, that's not a bad idea. But wouldn't a damage Buff make them OP? We don't want to live the nightmare that was the Doctrine again" Well Timmy, I'm going to be real with you. The Doctrine's problem was not the damage, it was the range. I'll admit that the range on the vanilla Doctrine was ridiculous. But you know how Bungie is with that nerf machine. Instead of nerfing just the range on the Doctrine, they went and nerfed the damage and range...on ALL of the ARs....TWICE. "Oh boy Mr. Phresh that sounds terrible" It is Timmy, it is. Because now, AR users such as myself only find them useful in PVE. Oh and guess what....they're awful in PVE. Unless of course Arc-Burn is on, then you can open your vault full of useless Auto Rifles and fish out that 335 Zhalo Supercell that you'll have to dismantle one of your other exotics to infuse, knowing damn well you're putting that gun right back in the vault after the Nightfall because guess what Timmy, all your auto rifles are -blam!-ing useless!! Because you know, it only makes sense that the perfect primary weapon type to combat shotgun rushers be complete shit!! I mean imagine gunning a shotgun rusher down with damn near half your mag. only to get One-shotted by that Party Crasher or Mapador! I mean it makes perfect sense that my bullets just bounce off you like your armor is made of a combination of a military tank, Super-man's skin, Godzilla's toenails, and a -blam!-ing early 2000s NOKIA Cell phone! "Whoa Mr. Phresh, yo tits need calming" Sorry Timmy, it just gets me a little fired up. But seriously, I'm not asking for CoD-tier TTK ARs. I'm not asking for the vanilla Doctrine or Suros. I'm just asking for a useful auto rifle.
