Seriously people need to learn how P2P works,
Take into account the varied match types availabe in destiny so your closest destiny players may not even be in the same playlist.
Being physically closer doesnt always mean a better connection there are too many variables to list.
Your closest players might be mid natch when you start to que, hence why tou are not matched with them.
Im starting to think players of this game think everyone who is active plays destiny at the same times and ques for the same match types at the same time.
Within a set timeframe the game TRIES to connect you with soundly connected players THEN sorts that into skill levels. IF it cannot these controls are gradually relaxed until voila the match starts.
Ever played a match where there are not full teams? we all have due to the above protocols.
Ever played a match that has one or more red bars? we all have its the nature of P2P.

I'm from Tennessee. Why is it when I mainly play on the weekends for Trials I am ALWAYS facing against people from Mexico when I host the group i play with. 7 other states border mine and yet I play people from another country more.

Edited by SolarCerberuS: 11/18/2016 2:58:42 AMThere is a timed protocol when you are joining that and trials matchmaking is card based general crucible matchmaking doesnt effect trials.

Edited by BTownMountain: 11/18/2016 2:36:56 AMSir, I'm a software engineer. I not only know how it works but track it with my netduma router. And I've been tracking it since December when they denied changes to matchmaking. Since then: Over 30,000 matched players Average connection ping: 200ms Average K/d: 1.7 My stats: 50/25 net Optimized router for nearly 0 packet loss. (Less than 0.02%) K/d: 1.3
