Hit 390 Solo! Is 390 - 400 Hard?
Just as title asks, will 390 - 400 be hard to do as a solo player?

Not really. I have not made 400, but I can tell you from 395 to 400 is becoming a real pain.

Being smart with loot I found it was ok. I made sure i used skeleton keys and decrypted engrams when it was almost guaranteed to increase average light. When low 390's I pushed my light as high as possible during the week and did nightfall on last day. Just to try to get highest light rewards possible, hahaha yup it dropped strange coins for 1 char.

It's taking me a long time. But it honestly doesn't matter. It's not like strikes are going to be that much easier at 400 vs 390

There aren't many ways to get an artifact with more light than 390, that's what makes it hard.

Im a solo player aswell, i hit 390 pretty easily but its a struggle from 390 up, as your a solo player like me im assuming your using the same ways i am...... exotic engrams, nightfall rewards and waiting for Iron banner every month, which is slow but i enjoy it, id rather take my time and enjoy it than hit max light quickly and be bored within a couple of weeks, i got a 393 hunter, 391 titan and 390 warlock, remember to grind the f##k out of archons forge for ghosts, arrifacts and class items, i normally do it on my hunter and pass down unused items for infusion,

Oh yes. At one point exotics won't drop higher than your light. Only equal to or lower

Solo yes, rep packages don't help anymore. So you are limited to few easy ways to rank up.

Play crucible for 400 weapons (Shaxx weekly packages have been really nice to me this last week doing them on each character), Forge for 400 class/ghost/artifact, and rely on strike keys and 3oC to get your armor up since the rank ups cap at 390. I'm at 396, 394, 393 currently. The good thing is your 2 other characters get a free ride to 390+ from your main's hand me downs. Nightfall dropped me a 400 hand cannon on a 395 char last week.

It depends my characters are 399,397,and 396 and it's been all solo from exotics and pvp archons forge. It's more time consuming than anything

Slower process. Less chances to get higher light stuff. Just remember to be your highest light when there is a chance to get something higher. Regular forge for ghosts and artifacts.

I'm 394 without a hard mode raid completion. Just forge, strikes, NightFalls and horde chest.

If you mean using match made activities without going to LFG, its highly unlikely but mathematically possible.

I just hit 392 last night, no nightfalls or raids. The grind is real. Exotics only seem to be decrypting one or two levels above and I only seem to be getting heads and chests.

Hard? No... Slow going? Yes - unless you have saved up a vault full of exotic engrams...

With about 5 exotic engrams saved up, it took me roughly two weeks to get from 390 to 395. It takes time, but it's not too bad

8 RepliesI'm 390, all solo except nightfalls (lfg site). I still have about 2 dozen exotic engrams left. I've been extremely conservative cashing them in up to this point, but it appears packages now stop at 390. :( So I guess nows the time to cash in my engram stash and use my skeleton keys (I've used zero so far, I've been saving them).

Not really but that's a lot of grinding for skeleton keys to get helmet and arm drops while praying you get exotic chest and boot engrams along with crucible and forge to get the rest of the gear up to 400.

For me, I ended up just doing the HM raid. Exotic engrams were and still are decrypting under my light level and you can't get feet or chest items from skeleton keys.

I'd classify myself as a solo player but still do the odd raid with randoms. For me it was super easy to go from 387-400, the hard raid is what you want to do

Edited by Wowbagger: 11/1/2016 9:35:13 AMon another forum someone goto 390 then cashed in like 50 exotic engrams he had saved and got to 400 with a bit of Forge. I hit 390 then got started on Skyrim. But I will be back for Iron Banner and will do that for a week with Three of Coins to probably get a bump to 394 - then forge for a day to get to 395, then repeat again a month later with next Iron banner to get to 400 - so should be 400 by end of year. There's no rush for me as doubt we will see a light-level-cap rise till April.

But keys are rare drops[/spoiler] I strongly recommend running DIM/Tower Ghost in farm mode if you're are planning to farm Forge/strikes for an extended period -and- you have vault space. Just be sure to delete the greens from your inventory. [spoiler]for the uninformed, these move blue and up engrams from inventory to vault[/spoiler] Exotics/Hoard chests/Nightfall/Weekly Crucible for everything else. For the hoard chests, Google a list of what drops where if you are looking for a specific item and run the strike from the Director on the 320 light option. Good luck.
