Same with snipers, sidearms, fusions. Just because something excels at its job (although a little too well for the high impact) doesn't mean they should be removed. If thats the case then we wouldn't have fusion rifles, back when destiny first released fusions could kill from 2-3 times the range they have now, and always 1 shot. Also believe it or not shotguns are just like the last word, regardless of how many nerfs (unless you make it utter useless) it will be good and used. Shotguns had double the current max base range they have today, plus rangefinder. So take into account the 2-4 range nerfs, the perk removed, the sprinting speed/ads/draw time have been reduced as well. But people still use them because they work better then anything else in CQC.
