No radar caters to no skill?

I've seen so many posts about this trials and how it's catering to no skill players. Someone please explain that to me. We went flawless twice so far only losing the one game on those two cards. We beat some really bad teams along the way. They did not have any sort of advantage over us because the radar was off and no revives. The only people this SHOULD hurt are people doing carries as it will be hard if they get picked first. Any other team shouldn't even notice a difference really. It's all about awareness and most importantly callouts. I've also seen a lot of people saying about campers with shotguns. We didn't come across any of that because we would rush them from different angles. If someone is camping and you continue to let them camp then that is your fault. Force them to change up their play style or just keep getting wiped.

    • Reading the radar quickly and accurately is a skill. It's a skill that has been helpful to many players, and has been part of the DNA of crucible since day 1. However it is not necessarily a skill all good players use. To those who don't the inferno playlist are amazing, to the people who acquired that skill, inferno is a nightmare. I live and die by the radar, for some reason I can find someone by my radar quicker than I can by looking( this includes people standing right in front of me). However I see no reason why the no radar players shouldn't have their day in the sun. Live it up boys you have skill in my book

    • Yup for once its pretty easy, casuals love the no radar because its the farthest they go on a card, but us full time pvpers(lol) use radar to outplay out opponent not rely on a lucky kill because he didn't see me lol.

One of the easiest flawless I ever did... But the cancer it supports it's insane...One game was shotguns only with 3 hunters invis...that's the only game we lost a round and then we developed a counter immediately...so yeah no radar promotes play for no skill people because of certain abilities on some classes but it also provides many ways for exp people with quick reflexes to overpower those said tactics..it's good and bad but mostly bad cause a high percent of the people playing dest is not that exp to actually play "fair" in a no radar environment..no hate for those who use it and I understand it's considered a tactic

    • Assuming your telling the truth about going flawless, I've got some questions... Why is your light 242? Why isn't the Lighthouse Grimoire unlocked? Why do you have less than 1,500 crucible kills? I think it's because you lie. But hey, I'm hoping you'll prove me wrong.

      • All these people saying it requires use of a shotgun are so far off the reservation it'd be funny if it wasn't so sad. Snipers still function and I made 4 wins at trials with trespasser and I suck at pvp

      • I will start by saying, I am not a great pvp player. I've never been flaweless. And I don't really care if I ever do. It is a video game which I play for entertainment. I am a 42 yo father of two that plays this game with my kids. I did not go flawless this weekend but still had so much fun. I felt that this was a much faster moving entertaining week than usual. Most of the time, it is just people watching their radar with their snipers equipped waiting for someone to walk around that corner for an easy kill. I did not see people camping with shotguns. Actually saw more people rushing and flanking due to the lack of radar. Keeps you more on your toes as oppose to waiting out the other sniper. That also brings me to, why is there such an argument about a play style being more skilled than another. Just because there is a different game mode or a different play style, people automatically have less or more skill. Skills in anything, from sports to games to careers, will vary in style. I personally don't see that using radar with a sniper is so much more skillful than shotgun with no radar. It is a different skill. As far as team skill, both radar/no radar take different team skills. You certainly have to cover a large visual area with no radar. There are certainly a lot of team coordination in either mode.

      • I don't think so.
People who complain about not having Radar are the equivalent of The Sweeper Bot without his broom. If the Radar is the only tool you use to 'Sweep' your trials games then you're not going 'Sweep' without it.
How about a little year 1 optimism and nativity? Just play the new game mode because it's a new game mode and the challenges are challenges.

      • I wouldn't say that. It makes certain 'cheaper' tactics more viable. (Eg just sitting in the corner with a shotgun Until someone runs past you looking for you). However players who weren't very aware this week got SHIT on.

        • Not sure sitting back sniping with the comfort of radar to notify you that someone is near requires much skill. Think of it as a new game with new strategy. Are you skilled enough to adjust your game style? Can you conquer regardless of the situation? Take the challenge.

        • This week has caterd to people who cannot hold there own in a 1v1 engagement and because of this its easier for people who have no specific map tactic for example a lot of low tier players just rush blindly into a room with a shotty out or a CQW and because there movements are crazy you can never pin point them for example i have a friend who is "bad" 0.6kd and he achieved flawless and has a 1.4kd for the week and he says its just to the modifiers and he understands that where as people who consider themselfs "elite" are struggling due to the map and everybody playing as shotgun runners for example i either use a sniper of fusion on most maps (i dont like using shotguns to much) and i was almost forced to use a shotty for a major part of the week

This trials experience has been atrocious. Didn't think I'd ever see Call of Duty Destiny version.. this map without a radar is complete crap, it is the ultimate shotgun slap contest, and incredibly frustrating to play. In regards to balance, 80% shotgun usage this week, including 20%+ for the matador alone, snipers never had this much usage at their peak, just saying.

That wouldn't have happened with a radar. A few times I just snuck up on people for an easy kill. It doesn't take skill to shoot someone in the back.

I hate the fact everyone's been in a private matches finding all the cheap high up spots to sit. I thought it was me, I played 12 and lost 12 using lfg to find teams on Friday which is a rare occasion for me. My team got on and we won 20 and lost 2 completing 2 flawless runs with mercy only. We ran a 2 and a 1 which made for a lot of team shooting. I've been shadowing my team mate mopping all the kills up and getting plenty of assists. Our third ran around and shotgunned them while they were distracted with us, we lost a couple of games to boring teams camping in corners with shotguns but beat lots of really good teams that tried to play aggressive. We've been checking stats before games and singling out the guy trying to carry, we stuck together and killed him first then it was an easy job to kill the other 2.

                • Its making people salty because its asking the player to now have awareness and adaptability as a skill set rather than just raw gun skill. I will say however the map next weekend better be a larger map with more open space to see how well shotguns still stack up opposed to Cauldron. Btw which is a map bred for shotgunning regardless

                • I think the radar should be like CoD, you still have the radar there and you're still able to see where your teammates are. Also, instead of having the radar always locked on the enemy such as in past trials, and having no radar at all like this trials, I think it should be a mix of both. Your enemy only appears on the Radar when they shoot. I think this adds a good balance.

                  • Destiny and most (not all) console shooters dont work very well without radars. Playing with a controller limits your ability to check angles quickly; but whats most important: destiny has little to no sound effects that let you guess where the enemy is. Example: i played a lot of overwatch (pc) lately. I wouldnt even need a radar because you can just hear everything. Same goes for famous shooters like cs/cod (not the shitty newer ones after mw1) I mean you can bring up halo as an example for no radar (mlg mode) but a) the maps are maps are suitable for that and b) they play modes where you can respawn so dieing is less the issue than it is 3v3 without revives Tl;dr: destinys mechanics and maps are not suited for no radar it causes imbalance and randomness (elim game type)
