I met my fireteam IRL :)

[spoiler]Why do people have to explain everything to you in this place[/spoiler]
So I've been playing Destiny with two other guys regularly, for a while now.
One of them I know from the 360 days, back in HoW and the other has been off and on for a while, but became a steady team mate this last spring.
I play with these guys daily. We chit chat about everything and nothing. We also live in kind of the same general area of the country.
Last night we finally met up and grabbed our first beer together. It was so strange to watch.
Here's this kid that just finished high school. Then there's this tall skinny dude in his mid 20's and a 32 year old man. Sitting in a bar, talking for 3 hours straight. Laughing and teasing each other about stuff from a video game. If anyone tried to eavesdrop they would not be able to make out what the -blam!- we were saying. So funny.
I had never met them before in real life, but like, as soon as we saw each other we just started yapping on and on. It wasn't like "Oh I've never seen this person in my life. This is awkward". No. It was like we were in party chat being business as usual.
A great evening and I think we bonded even more.
There, just wanted to share this with everyone :) Destiny is so much more than just another video game.

The best way I ever found to describe it is it's like meeting old friends for the first time. Glad you got to meet up with your buddies!

2 RepliesEdited by Kemaleon: 8/30/2016 8:14:42 AMI met a bunch of guys on here about 12 years ago during the Halo 2 days, we had a group, clan and all that and then started having LAN parties. 12 years on and we all still meet fairly regularly, just had a house warming for one guy, we do Paintball together at least once a year and have attended each others weddings, even being best men to each other. Ages currently range from 16 to around 50. Its funny where things can take you in life, my best friends live all over the country and even abroad but we talk every day through various mediums like Whatsapp and party chat. If anyone else out there is considering meeting their long term gaming buddies, I fully recommend it. You youngsters be careful though, there are some real weirdos out there!

1 ReplyI've been playing with my fireteam since November of last year. We met in a clan randomly and jumped into the raid. It didn't take us long to find many things we have in common, and form a strong bond. We even moved on to other games both console and PC, and talk regularly everyday via text. They've become part of my everyday life now. I'm a Southern California native and the other two members of my fireteam are from Texas ( they are friends in RL). One of my buddies "Kill-Order" was touring with slipknot, and had a show in August, in LA. We quickly made plans to meet up, shoot some pool, have a beer etc. our third fireteam member (Keychain) decided to drive out the same week once we had plans established. So two weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting, and spending four days with my now, best friends. Destiny may suck at times, but I'll always be thankful that I had the opportunity to meet them. We are all in our mid 20's and plan on meeting once a year now in, at a new place for vacation.

10 RepliesWell, I work at a college as a janitor even though I feel like I'm smarter than most of the people who go there. Sometimes I see an equation written on a blackboard...like half an equation and...I just figure it out. Also, my best friend is Ben Affleck.
