4 RepliesI'd have to go with Destiny, because Bungie are such a renowned developer. The expectations were a lot higher, they had a huge budget and with a lot of staff.

Promises or expectations
-
1 ReplyNo Mans Sky delivered exactly what they said they would (because they were vague about it to begin with). People "expected" too much of this ambitious indie game and got disappointed on their own. Bungie originally said Destiny would be "this", and gave us a clear precise picture of the game, yet did NOT deliver what they promised, even though it's a AAA game with a huge budget. Destiny is worse. Moral of the story: don't succumb to the hype
-
Bungie: developer loved by millions, had a huge budget for Destiny and lied severely about the games content. Disgraceful behaviour from a massive triple A company which had years to work on Destiny. Hello Games: small indie company of 15 people using procedurally generated worlds, unsurprising they lied considering the size of their team. The company was a complete unknown before NMS. Bungie is worse.

1 ReplyEdited by xXZeroShikiXx: 8/27/2016 1:10:42 AMI'd say No Man's Sky. I wasn't super hyped for Destiny, didn't even know it was a thing until a month or two before launch lol. And I've been playing since Vanilla, enjoying every dlc right up until I finish the endgame. (which yes, bs, overpriced, chopped up game blah blah... everyone is painfully aware) Love the gameplay, I actually enjoy the whole Grimoire card setup, though I think you should be able to access them in-game. And everyone is probably gonna go nuts at this; I don't mind how they don't run you through a story about everything. I like that you're just a soldier carrying out the missions given, working with the information the higher-ups feel you need.(just feels like a touch of realism to me) Though I will say in, that regard, that I don't get what your characters motivation is supposed to be lol. The fact that they're just... cool, with everything going on is pretty weird. No Man's Sky... I kept hearing so much hype around that... Simulator. Bought it, got the warp drive, hit with buyers remorse. It's a beautiful space simulation that they've crafted, but it's so damn boring lol. I've heard something about crafting being added in a major update eventually, but I doubt I'll touch it again until then.

People who are saying Destiny and then going on about how Bungie lied... blame Activision. Joseph Statan had a great story written up and ready to go but Activision turned him away and re did the whole thing with 1 year before launch.
-
1 ReplyThey both lied equally imo, but at the moment, Destiny has the advantage of an ass load of improvements that happened post-release.
-
1 ReplyDestiny. Because for me that was the first time I was really excited for a game and learned about how much game companies lie.
-
3 RepliesAt least in NMS I can go to that mountain over there. Hint hint bungo.
wort
-
I'll say destiny would probably be it But I like destiny But bungie is a bunch of morons
-
3 RepliesNo Mans Sky was worse. But credit where credit is due, it's quite a game for being made by 15 people and being procedurally generated.
-
1 ReplyNo man Sky can at least add those features. Destiny just stripped and patched.
-
No Man’s Sky List of “missing” features:
planetary physics ship classes with meaningful differentiation faction reputation with meaningful gameplay impact homogenous resource availability asteroid landings space station and fleet destruction large fleets traveling freighters large scale battles the player can join in-atmosphere battles NPCs outside trading posts and other docks ringed planets sand planets flying between stars (as opposed to warping via the Galactic interface) complex creature behaviour including environmental interaction rivers points of interest such as large structures and crashed freighters hacking locked doors radio chatter interaction with other players
-
Probably down the middle. Both lied throughout the pre release hype. Both lied about features that would be in the game at launch and while No Man's Sky is definitely big the both in the end felt very much like they were missing something that made it feel a bit hollow.

Edited by Kirby235711: 8/27/2016 6:57:24 PMNo Man's Sky: Expected a world-changing super in-depth multiplayer game that has factions and epic space battles; got an alright low-depth singleplayer game that has a big world, three groups that speak gibberish until you find what each word means, and seeing that someone named that planet "Avenge Harambe" or something like that. Destiny: Expected slaying gods, tons of content, a large PvE-focused experience, and tolerable grinding for amazing gear; got standing still and shooting the big guy, DLC gates, a whiny PvP-focused experience, rarely paying attention to more than half the game when balancing, and tedious grinding for above average gear that will be nerfed. I'm going with Destiny. You can't have a game with raids when the closest it has to a healer is a guy that makes a bubble shield. Also, overnerfing.

Destiny without a doubt
-
Edited by RC32: 8/27/2016 4:58:01 PMHmmm. A game where one of its creators lied about MP and just didn't reach expectations at all for most/all people. Or a game where its developer locked 90% of its content and made it "paid DLC". Difficult choice.
-
Edited by ALCJR2000: 8/27/2016 4:46:00 PMFor me personally I would say NMS because it ends up being exploring a planet, naming stuff, finding the same buildings and repeat. With Destiny at least there is endgame content and multiplayer to keep it somewhat interesting

Halo 5
-
4 RepliesDidn't Bungie literally scrap like 80% of in game content and changed the whole storyline and campaign like a year before release? How the hell is No Mans Sky worse?
-
2 RepliesNo mans sky is EXACTLY what i expected just from watching early gameplay videos from about a year or half ago or any trailer really. Stoot things to gather materials on pregenerated planets that all look pretty much the same
-
No Man's Sky cut out a lot of small features that combined is a lot of stuff. Destiny cut out several HUGE features. Everything in the first 3 DLC's were supposed to be in the VANILLA game!
-
Destiny.
-
19 RepliesOnly reason people are voting NMS is because it's fresh. Destiny is nearly 2 years old now. But the truth is, Destiny....destiny definitely did it worse without a doubt.
-
5 RepliesBoth devs flat out lied about their games, but I feel like destiny is a little worse because in No Man's Sky the features the devs lied about weren't really fundamental. In destiny on the other hand, actual core mechanics that were promised ended up not being in the game: size, exploration, story, cutscenes, weapon customization, trading, gambling, ...
-
3 RepliesHad to be No Mans Sky. At least Destiny wasn't a flat out lie
