is there a reason why there is no dark type pokemon gym?

Yes. Game freak doesn't care about dark types unless they are dual type.

I don't mind, but it's weird they haven't done one. [spoiler]At first I thought you were talking about Dark gyms in Pokemon Go & I thought "There aren't any Gen 1 Dark types, are there?" [/spoiler]
