Note: For the typical "you have 3 Hunters, try another class" people. Just skim through both of these real quick. I have had Mac Warlocks and Titans in the past. I just enjoy the Hunter way more. I am 99% PvE, by the way.

I highly enjoy the Challenge of Elders. I managed to achieve Light 335 today as well as 333 on my second and third characters. If anyone needs help, I have no issues helping you later. Just message me on PS4. :)
My Journey!
What do you do with exotic engrams once you own every exotic in the game?
YOU SAVE THEM!
Do you just trash them?
No, seriously.. You should save them..
Because I saved around 115 exotics for this update. Each exotic you decrypt is 3-5 Light above your current Light. So, if you are Light 305, expect 305 - 310 exotics upon decryption. However, some people are experiencing a decrease in Light. The solution?
Blame RNG!
I started today with decrypting 2 or 3 of every engram type to see what would happen. Everything was 322-324 so I infused it into my already existing gear, bringing me to 323 Light. I followed up by doing the new quests which affected my Light level in no way. I followed with a Tier 3 Court of Oryx kill to get an artifact, 325, bringing me up to 324 Light. I went to the level 41 Prison of Elders and completed it for my Sterling Treasure which also did not affect my Light level. Now here's the good and annoying part. I went to do the Challenge of Elders! I got the 30k High Score for a weapon and turned it in immediately. 333 primary, I got lucky. I repeated the Challenge 2 more times to get the 90k alAccumulated Score and immediately turned that in as well. 328 armor. Around my 6th and 7th Challenge of Elders, I manged to pull a 335 Ghost and a 335 Cloak as well as a few of the exotic PoE secondaries. I achieved 327 Light within nearly 2 hours. Decrypting 3 or 4 of each engram after that point brought me to 332 Light. So I went back into the Court of Oryx to get another artifact that brought me up to 333 Light. Exotics start decrypting at 334 or 335 at this point. With the 1:1 infusion (a level 3 Light item being infused with a 335 Light item for sure becomes 335, etc.) and infusions not being character locked (meaning you can infuse Warlock gear into Titan gear etc.) it was a fast and easy level up. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with having 3 of the same character.
Tip: If you have the strange coins to buy Three of Coin, do it. You have a fair chance to get an exotic engram. Xur is selling that gun you really wanted?
FORGET ABOUT IT!
That will not help you rank up unless his wares level with you, and let's be serious, they won't!
Edit: If you have not reached Light 320, Court of Oryx is a good place to be if you have the runes. Rare (blue) loot drops up to 320. Legendary artifacts are the only thing that drops above 320 of your Light level allows it. Prison of Elders Level 41 can be played repeatedly for loot up to 320 as well, also depending on your Light level. You just cannot obtain the Sterling Treasure more than once per week from here, not that it helps your Light level anyways.
Suggestion:
Light Level below 318 - Try a T3 Court of Oryx for a higher artifact. Then try to do the Normal King's Fall with challenge since you're much more likely to obtain 320 gear. Then continue onto this next step unless it's toward the end of the week and you know you won't reach a higher Light.
Of course, you can do whatever you want, I'm just giving a suggestion. Wanna raid immediately? GO FOR IT!
Light Level 320 or above - T3 Court of Oryx is another great start. That artifact is a great thing to have. Challenge of Elders is your next step. Complete your Challenge Sigil and test your luck with post-game drops. Class items, Ghosts and exotic secondary PoE weapons sometimes drop after returning to orbit. Your Sigil, if a Challenge step is completed, will grant you a reward from Variks. After you achieve Light 323, Hard King's Fall is your next step. This is your best chance of Leveling up from this point.
Trust me, because my Clan didn't and now they regret it.
If you are good at PvP, specifically Trials of Osiris, a trip to the Lighthouse will also grant you higher Light rewards in the same sort of way with being 3-5 Light higher. Some people are getting lucky with 335 exotic pulls while below 320 Light, so good luck!
But carry me if you do this. Haha
So many times I decrypted exotics when I already had them all...I didn't even need the light...wtf I could of been 335, 20x over by now... facepalm, facepalm, facepalm

I ran a CoE once after completing both challenges and didn't get a high light level reward so assumed that's it for the week on that character, guess it's still down to the one and only RNG then!

Why three hunters though? I don't get it. You don't like the other classes or something? Got to show some love to those classes. :P The infusion would let you get them to max light anyways lol.

1 ReplyEdited by Canubiis: 4/17/2016 10:34:14 AMA lot of people feel the need to grind and spend the most amount of time they can to work on their light levels and that's the fun part. Once you get to max level, give it a week or two and things will get boring. What is the benefit of 335 light though? When you can pretty much beat the raid and PoE at much lower level? The challenge of elders is probably the biggest let down of Destiny in pve, it's suppose to be the reason to get to 335. So I wouldn't rush it unless you want to be done with this game but leave with max level until a new big update comes. I found my fun in pve by competing with friends for highest points in CoE, not too much with the drops rewards for light level increase

3 RepliesNice 3 hunters scrub

1 ReplyU don't want any new gear?
-
5 RepliesHow do you get the year 2 Poe weapons, like the year two aegis of the kell? Is it just from the big chest at the end(
-
2 RepliesNow what do you do for the next 5 months ?! 0_o
-
3 RepliesCongrats on achieving this light level guardian, I too am ascending the scale, but have chosen to only run a single character since year one - when I realized it only becomes a grind when you make it so, and a grind is only an issue If it detracts from your own personal enjoyment of a game. It will most likely take me 2x more resets to get to where you are, so drags my experience with the game where I am "growing in power" just a little longer. You will be a force in this weekends Trials of Osiris tho, probably well ahead of the curve there.

2 RepliesQuestion: once you get to 90k points on your card and pick up your rewards, can you delete the card and start over again and get more rewards? Or can you just keep playing the challenge and keep getting GOOD rewards.
-
1 ReplyAnd you wonder why people always ask for more content.

1 ReplyYou want to know how I got these scars? My father was a drinker and a fiend and one night he goes off crazier then usually. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that, not one bit. So me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. He turns to me and says "why so serious". Comes at me with the knife, "why so serious". He sticks the blade in my mouth. "Lets put a smile on that face" aanndd why so serious.

1 ReplyNice work bro! The SUROS DIS-43 is a really nice scout rifle. I've got the same roll as the one on your DO hunter.
-
1 ReplyKudos. So are you bored yet? :3

1 ReplyEdited by Heidegger: 4/14/2016 9:57:12 AMAwesome job, I read the whole description but already had an idea how you achieved it. You having three hunters didn't help, I have a few friends who are 335 on two separate characters for the same strategy you used. I'm more of a PvP guy so I never have 100's of strange coins saved up. Lvl 28 PoE is to boring imo to grind and km not sure of the new lvl 41 PoE is fun. Anyways congrats and after this week I figured that buying a crazy amount of three of coins is the strategy. Edit: You know if you reached 335 with the other two hunters(without switching gear) with 1:1 infusion you can easily delete a hunter, make a warlock and reach lvl 40. After that find new gear for you warlock that's infusible and in less than a day bam another 335 character. Same goes if you ever want a Titan at 335.

Nice! I've been grinding so much!
