You Elite PvP players please read all the way to the end
I think there is enough backing now to consider how adding a Lighthouse winners circle, a second tier (shoutout to PandaPapa146 for a tiered competition), might help gameplay. As gamers win the they move onto the second tier. This handles the concern about not letting players compete. The remaining players will make their every effort to get to the lighthouse not impeded by top tier players. The choice to continue playing after attaining the Lighthouse will be up to those willing to continue their abuse.
You elite guardians can change the culture of the Lighthouse experience. Yes, we still have to fight our way to our goal, however, if your a real top tier player you compete in the Lighthouse winners circle. I can imagine the epic battles played out by some our best players. People would be biting at the bit waiting for these matches to start every weekend. I suggest the the top most winning teams for each event (# based upon teams competing) be awarded with a random 320 adept weapon - 1 per account - as the weekly prize to be champion.
Edit: adapted a lot of input and moved to new post "Lighthouse Elite Arena"

239 RepliesI really wouldn't want to see players who really enjoy playing Trials for Fun being locked out. Or even players who help assist other Guardians in making it to the Lighthouse not being able to do so. I will always listen to both sides of the argument, so please let me know if you agree with OP or not and I will pass along your feedback.

First you need to play regular crucible often so you know the maps. Second you can't just jump into trials or a hard raid and expect to beat it. Third. Why is people that posts this shit complete garbage? Pay someone to carry you and you will be happy

4 RepliesEdited by VanillaRug14: 2/27/2016 9:04:06 AMGoing to the light house grants a buff "light of the brotherhood". This grants 2 wins to the opposing team if defeated in trials and grants mercy to those who have not seen the light of mercury. Those who have not reached the light house gain debuff "right of passage" on reaching 8 wins. Mercy will not be granted when facing "light of the brotherhood" marked teams. Grants bonus rewards on reaching the lighthouse a second time e.g. adept armor or gaurenteed 320. Problem solved everybody wins. Buff disappears on weekly reset.

2 RepliesI don't even know how you guys are playing full crucible matches with the constant weasel, baboon, rabbit, anteater, lemur, sewer rat, gopher, pelican codes that have been happening every time I turn my Xbox on. And no I'm not using McDonald's Internet and I also don't have a toaster for a router. The lag and kicking is REAL

3 RepliesSpeaking as a non elite player, no. The entire point of Trials is that it's the singular truly competitive game mode this title has to offer. The best and the lucky should make it to the lighthouse, and that is it. The fight is what makes the lighthouse interesting. If it were any easier to reach, it would have as much meaning to the community as the Tower does - none.

1 Replytrials is competitive. it's supposed to be the best of the best, not the best of what's left.
-
That's actually a good idea and still a great option and overall experience

I can't even get to the lighthouse as it is stfu

10 RepliesThis is completely counterintuitive to the spirit of ToO, I'm sorry. It's like the Olympics, where the best competitors in the world go against each other to prove that they are the best OF the best. What you've suggested is simply pitting players against other players of the same skill level, and slapping it under the banner of 'Trials of Osiris'... Which is like saying that Little League and Varsity baseball players should get the same distinction and honor as MLB Playoff teams- which isn't how it works! :P Again, Trials isn't about beating opponents of the same skill level as you, it's about proving that you can beat any level of player that you come up against.

2 RepliesSo all I'm reading here is super elites want it to remain easy for them by beating up on scrubs. Keep in mind haven't played trials yet but partied with 3 players I know who have been to this holy land you speak of in IB this time. What I learned from that experience is I'm not as good and will continue to not play it for the time being.

3 RepliesWould Guardians who make it flawless be elevated to a higher tier till the weekly reset? Or forever?
-
5 RepliesHow will anyone get the scarab emblem then?

1 ReplyIt sounds like you want to make going to The Lighthouse easier, of which I'm not a supporter of. Good players should reap the rewards of being good, bad players should face the consequences of being bad. The only way I'd accept your change if is that once you are placed in the "winner's Circle", you can play for 310-320 gear to make it fair for the better players.

2 RepliesI've been saying this exact thing for a few weeks now. It's all pay for carry. People are making a living off this video game and carrying $20 a card all day, tax free. It's not bad. I have no issue with it honestly, but so few people are playing now that you run into these guys every care now. Bungie needs to step in and make a second ranked tier once you go flawless any given week, for the ultra elites and hacks/cheats to go toe to toe. This way the streamers can show their true skill against the best.
-
The streamers carrying avg players is about the only positive attention destiny is getting right now. If everyone had a chance at the lighthouse without having to beg for a carry, the streamers would lose followers and bungie isn't going to mess that up. There will never be mlg destiny because of the shit servers and paint by numbers sniping, so streamers is the best they're going to get. If they ever change it at all, the rewards will be nerfed so badly that you'll have to make another post asking them to make the next tier easier and then the next.

I just thought of this. What if there was like an optional tier system. Like Tier 4, anyone can join. You go flawless, get to the lighthouse the chest has you now chance at ghost, shader, exotic. You're guaranteed a piece of gear or weapon at 300-310 light and you unlock Tier 3. Tier 3, you're guaranteed an item/gear or weapon between 310-320 and tier 2 is unlocked. Tier 2, you're guaranteed a weapon and item/gear between 310-320 with a chance of an exotic at 320 and you unlock tier 1. At tier 1, anything you get is at 320 light. A high chance at a 320 exotic. Even maybe make an exclusive shader/ship/ghost/emblem that is only unlocked at tier 1 flawless. And it's all optional, you just want to stay in tier 4 all weekend you can. If you want to chase that higher gear you can and at tier 3 and above, it's going to be better players so more of a challenge. Just an idea

No, it shouldn't be easier I play games where I've been stomped and I'll continue. I'll elaborate on my opinion if your wondering still though.
-
1 ReplyThe problem is simple. If there is to be tiers. Only the top tier should allow for "adept" weaponry. No reason some inept guys should deserve the same guns adept players had to earn. Guns these players wouldn't have if these supposed "top tier" players were there.
-
There should be a ranking system in place to make this competitive yet also casual for those who don't want to drench their controllers with palm sweat. Every time a team goes to the lighthouse each player gets a notch or a designated number would increase. Those players would get matched up against players with similar ranks. The fact that a team who has never been and is 8-0 will get matched against another 8-0 team of better players who have gone a multitude of times can lead to a ton of frustration. This is how passage cards work now so why can't it be done for the whole playlist? They claim this game is so innovative but so many small, obvious adjustments are constantly overlooked. It feels like it's done on purpose to keep those who haven't gone to the lighthouse to keep grinding until they do. Best bet is sub to a talented twitch streamer with a very large backpack and even larger sense of generosity

Edited by pacificdune: 2/29/2016 10:51:34 PMThis already exists to some extent. People can play on a 9 win card. It is how you farm for the scarab. Regarding being locked out, I don't think that's true. Most people can find a way to get there. A good player can help you, or you can practice and become good yourself. You are currently bronze in trials. (950 ELO). I don't think the lighthouse is meant for teams of bronze players.

3 RepliesEdited by Nebutronical: 2/29/2016 10:09:49 PMThis whole idea is garbage. Might as well give up the whole concept of trials and just let everyone go to the lighthouse on a free tour. Winning like this would be a hollow achievement. Not to mention that practically it would be awful. What if you want to play with 2 friends who are average and your too 5% vs a team who are all top 10%? Or a team of the worlds best players who just haven't been flawless that week? There are always players who are better than you and you will always lose with this weak, defeatist attitude. Also, doing this would ruin streamers livelihoods and they are partially helping to keep people interested in this game. Take that away from them and you will be nuking the social base even further

7 RepliesWhy do people not understand that trials is supposed to be competitive and the lighthouse isn't meant for everyone to go to?

Bump. Awesome idea!!
