A Little Tip for Those Who Are Asking for Nerfs.

{Important edit} I'm looking for smart, mature, and skilled players. I'm looking forward to making an elite team for 3V3 gamemodes. Currently this is only applicable to xbox 360 users. I've played with the best before, however now, I'm making the best. If you are interested please private message me on bungie.net. whether or not you will get in is dependent on your experience with the game. Hope to see you guys soon, now back to the real post. | | | Here`s a tip for those of you who are complaining about the so called "meta" in Destiny. This helped me big time in achieving my own ranking. A bit of backstory, I used to be a 1.1 K/D player. I could never go flawless, I could barely play on my own. I would go around blaming my deaths and losses on everything that is of cause. Sadly, there are still tons of players who are like this. Here is a little tip that hopefully you guys can follow in order to stop yourself from getting "tilt". __________________ Every time you die, or miss a kill, you can never blame it on the gun you are using or, the gun they are using. Same goes with abilities. You are dying purely because you are not thinking ahead. This game plays more so on skill, rather then what kind of guns you`re using. If you go around blaming something other then yourself for your deaths, you will never admit to your own mistakes, blaming the Game will never alow you to improve, rather you will not know where to improve upon. I could go into the crucible with any kind of blue weapon and still play relatively good. Why? Because this game is all skill/hand-eye coordination based. This game requires concentrated practice. Similar to playing the guitar. Your fingers will just feel uncomfortable and sloppy. With concentrated use, you don't even need to look at the guitar to know the chords. Just an added note, you won't play as good with a blue weapon of course, but you won't be having bad games as long as you concentrate on playing smart, and safe. The meta in destiny currently is relatively balenced. If we keep blaming the game for our own mistakes, we will likely cause a new nerf due to complaints. A new nerf will only make for a new meta, and so the cycle continues. If you ever want to get good at this game. Never, blame anyone or anything but yourself for dying or playing bad. If you do so, you will never recognize your own mistakes. as a result you will never improve in whatever is causing you to die. blaming the game will surely put yourself on tilt, which will only result in digging a hole for yourself... _________________ WE DO NOT NEED NERFS, WE DO NOT NEED CHANGES, YOU NEED TO PLAY SMARTER TO COMPETE AGAINST OTHERS. Isn't that what PvP is supposed to be....? _______________________________________________________________ EDIT #1 Thank you all for the support! I love responding to you guys, and I've been getting some very great praise. If you guys are looking for more information, feel free to look at my responses to other people. You may find your answer there. EDIT #2 As of now i've responded to every single comment. and boy there are some long ones, i've been typing non-stop straight for these couple hours. I'm doing so in hope of helping you guys! You`re welcome! :D EDIT #3 This is currently the top trending post. I'm glad that I'm getting so much support. For those of you that need help in the crucible, I'd be happy to give private lessons online. If you play on the Xbox 360, message me, if I get to you, I will quite possibly help teach you in PvP. EDIT #4 Hey everyone! I made a new community for those people who need it. It's called The Light Of Legends. If you are interested in joining, it's completely open. Just go into my account, click the clan I'm a part of, and join. We have 25 members as of now. Hopfully we can largen that expensionally.

  • It's not just skill though. Map familiarity and good old experience matter just as much if not more. You could be an average shot, but if you can look at your radar, see the red indicators, and know EXACTLY where the enemy is and where they're going to be, you'll have the upper hand over a crack shot who has no idea what's going on. When I watch videos of top players, it isn't their gun skills that impress me (snipers being the exception). They don't look much better at gun play than I am. What amazes me is that they always seem to be at the right place at the right time, and they almost always have the upper hand. It's like they're reading their opponent's minds.

    • Tilt is a thing. Yes. That, and it's context. Nerfs are needed. It's not a " git gud scrub" situation. It's not a blame game. There was no room, zero room, for a 56 headshot vex in the crucible. Then crowd control. Just like there was no room for a 2 shot thorn. Max reserve 18 round felwinters with range finder, shot package, and aggressive ballistics. Sometimes, enough is enough and they are warranted

          • Nothing at the moment is stupidly op that it's game breaking. People commonly mistake calling something overpowered when it's actually just overused. They think because they are getting killed over and over by the same gun they think it's overpowered. But in reality it's actually 90% of the community using the same set up.

              • Best post I've seen in a long time! Well said. I don't die as much now because I've gotten to be a better player. And also, use the guns you feel most comfortable with because that ultimately gives you more confidence to make the shot.

                • Good overall tip, but for it's purpose it sucks. Nerfs will, and should be, a part of this or any game.

                  • When I read "This game plays entirely on skill, not what kind of guns you`re using." Instantly knew you didn't know what you were talking about. Certain guns help you out more then others. If I put on all blues and play smart. I might make it to 15-20 kills. if I put on the best weapons in the game and play like I was with the blues, my kills will be more like 25-35 with a 2+ k/d. This is a fact, I have done it multiple times. If you are using a sniper other then 1kys and you are mid to full map, going up against another player using the 1kys, he will kill you no matter what. You can shoot him 3 times with you're sniper and you won't get damage on him cause the difference is impact and range. 1kys goes across the entire map and can one shot while others do little to no damage. We can go back and forth on this, but I don't think any more nerfs are needed. I'd actually like to see some buffs to sub classes (hunters are fine, they are the crybabies of the game and cried to the top) titans and warlocks need certain tweaks to help their subclasses out. But I really don't care, the game plays out fine right now. If you lose its solely cause you made a dumb play, or the game cheated you out of a kill (it happens). The only nerf or fix I'd like to see is snipers not being able to one shot no scope you from 2 feet away. You make a good play, you get close to a sniper to kill him with a shotgun and they kill you. I think that's pretty cheap. Snipers should have the highest impact at mid to full map range. Shot guns up to 10 feet away (not felwinters sniping, but close to it). But if not, no biggy.

                      • I agree with you for the most part. I barely even look at the corner of the screen to see what gun killed me, except the first time thorn killed me and Doctrine of Passing. I used to get mad in cod4 and the sequels when a gun would kill me, but then I calmed my hormonal pre-teen ass down, and enjoy games a lot more now.

                        • I completely agree. I'd also like to add one thing: There's only one valid excuse in online gaming, and that excuse is latency. Don't lie to yourselves about it, though, most of the time we just lack preparation.

                          • You are half right. You need to stop blaming teammates/tryhards/skrubs/OP weapons for your deaths, but that doesn't mean there aren't OP weapons.

                            • This is just nonsense. You were not going to out play the OG Vex. If the Last Word is effective at scout rifle range, it will dominate because it is over performing. Shotguns were too good because the danger of using them was getting into CQC. If they killed well outside melee range, there was no risk with them. It isn't that you are dying to a gun. You can die to all guns. It is that the weapons are outperforming their concept. That becomes the problem.

                              • I think you're jumping to conclusions when you assume and base your entire thesis on there being an absolute correlation between watning nerfs and performance. My stats are pretty decent but I'd still like to see a bunch of changes/nerfs, for the simple reason that I find the current situation gimmicky and boring to play.

We might not need all this stuff, but bungie do, if they want a destiny mlg league to actually work. The game is just as unbalanced as it always has been. I still play it, still sort of enjoy it, but the current balance is almost as frustrating a the thorn days. Every weapon balance they make is just another step towards actually getting the balance right just in time for destiny 2 and bungles mlg gaming league.

                              • To be fair some setups do flat out give an advantage - against an equally skilled player you'll nearly always lose against them unless you mimic their setup. They're the problem cases to my mind.
