The Chaperone
Why the heck is this gun never used? I picked up mine this morning. It's only 290, but it can OHK 318 light in IB with a headshot from optimal range. It's range is crazy good, and field scout puts so much ammo in the reserves it's not even funny. So my question is, why? Why is this great fun so underused

Because it takes skill to one shot whereas the conspiracy theory D takes as much skill and letting your piss hit the floor.

I have mines at 300 but never used it that much until earlier yesterday. I was having so much fun in IB with it and also got the laughter and satisfaction of my friend getting pissed at me killing him with one crit from the chaperone.

It's because it requires aim. People don't like relying on aiming for some reason

2 RepliesFor me, it's my go to weapon for PvP, even in the current meta of Mida, 1000 yard Stare. There's no better feeling than sweeping behind a campy sniper and one shotting a hole in the back of their head! When I first saw it I was like "WOW!!! How do I get this weapon!?" So I slogged out the Jolly Holiday mission Twice just so I could have it on both consoles... More than worth it!

I love the weapon. It has helped me out with aimed shots quite a bit. I still get wrecked with other shotguns, but it's nice to come out on top of a skirmish with it. Chaperone really changes around the paradigm of ironsighting with a shotgun(something universal remote was designed for but never worked as well).

Because people don't know how to headshot with a shotgun.

I love it, used to love it more when weapons of light could make it a 1 shot body shot kill, but of course bungie had to go and nerf it, not like anyone was even complaining about it

It's a cool gun but it's literally a short range sniper. So either use a sniper or use any other shotgun

Love mine, only shotgun I use anymore.. Just kind of annoying while I'm lining up my head shot, some jackass runs through and panic shoots randomly and I barely get scratched but it murders my face. Chap' isn't forgiving at all. If you don't got that headshot, you better have time to dump 2 in em.

1 Reply1. As someone pointed out it takes up an exotic slot 2. Even though the range is rediculous and headshots aren't difficult to hit with it, MOST people that run around shotgunning don't take the extra quarter second to aim

its exotic, it takes skill to use, you need headshots, damage falloff is brutal, and the conspiracy theory shoots just as far and will ohk on a body shot

It's under used because if your going to use an exotic shotgun, it better be Invective.

Sshhhhhh! Stop letting ppl know its amazing. One of the few good guns that still feels exotic and isnt overused. Just enjoy it. Plus it requires much less skill to run around, hip firing full auto body shots into ppl than it does to aim for the face. Chaperone for life.

Because you actually have to aim it not just point it in the general direction like conspiracy theory. Shadestep and chaperone is a lot of fun.

Hmmm...my Titan has a leftover weekly quest from last IB. He just needs special weapon kills, and a few dailies, and if I turn them in on Monday, he'll go 0-5 with almost no effort. I was going to use Invective, but maybe I'll give Chaperone a try. Still haven't really broken it in yet.

It's great ( especially its reserve ammo ) but the invective just beats it out at close quarters engagement( unless you get the drop on somebody or you get a headshot)

4 RepliesPpl say the range is good but I swear mine was nerfed lol. The dmg falloff is so severe I can't even do 1/4 dmg to acolytes from like tlw optimal range
