I'm a big fan of Rainbow 6 games, so please trust me when I say Siege was a bit of a let down.
Rainbow use to be on par with FPS games like CoD and the likes. Now they have slipped and have become a one trick gimmicky game that will alienate hardcore Rainbow fans.
With Siege there is no campaign, in which had been a staple to the game to play cooperatively with a friend. I expected with the new gen consoles a larger game complete with a dynamic story and fantastic terrorist hunt online! Instead I feel like the game is incomplete, leaving a void inside the hardcore Rainbow 6 fan wondering what happened to my beloved swat-team tactical FPS ?!?
In closing, the game does render a fresh tactical perception for taking down terrorists. It is an ambitious idea but poorly realized. Maps feel compressed and underwhelming. Shooting is restricted to close to medium range, which wouldn't be such an issue except sniper support is non-existent. We love our snipers!
So it is my opinion that if Rainbow 6 does not improve, I believe it will fade into the backlight of FPS games.
Thoughts?
Edit: A lot of great responses. Thank you all for all the insight. Seems Siege will continue Rainbow's tradition of being a team-tactical shooter creating yet again a special niche of players. New thought, who is your favorite attacker or defender, and why?

9 RepliesFrankly, there hasn't been a great Tom Clancy game since his passing. Without his guidance, all of his series have just become.... Generic, to say the least. Precisely why I can't say that I am at all excited about The Division.

1 ReplyI love this game the cool tactical aspect is awesome also the fact that you can pick an operator that suits you to the best of you ability.
-
5 RepliesRainbow six was always behind other shooters
-
1 ReplyThis is my first Rainbow Six game, and I'm loving the hell out of it, but I can see why older fans of the series might complain about it. I might go back and play Rainbow Six Vegas to see what I missed out on.

1 ReplyAAA stands for the budget used for the game, not the quality

7 RepliesNot trying to be " that guy " but when was rainbow six ever on cod level? I'm no cod fanboy , but cod basically took over the fps world. Every fps is compared to cod. throughout the years the only real steady competition for cod has been halo and battlefield , and to be honest battlefield is really just an honorable mention as it never gave cod a run for its money. Cod has been super dominant since the 1st modern warfare , Rainbow six has never been on this level. And to be clear i'm talking about fans , money generated , anticipation of release, and overall general media hype.

14 RepliesDon't listen to this -blam!- boy ... His reason on not liking the game where because it doesn't have a story.... Like are you kidding me son? "I can't play a game without story." And hardcore rainbow six players don't give a -blam!-ing Shit about story scrub. If it didn't have terrorist hunt people would be mad but your a sorry excuse for a rainbow six fan....

4 RepliesI lurv it. And I've played all the other Rainbow 6 games.

9 RepliesSiege is my fav rainbow yet... One of my favorite multiplayers in a long time. For once there is a unique shooter out there that knows what it wants to be. Could care less what others think, it's a niche game and I'm part of that niche loving it
-
3 RepliesI would argue that it never really was AAA.
-
9 RepliesI didn't buy the new one. I've always been a huge fan but if they can't even give us a story I don't want it.
-
2 RepliesJust a thought, but the death of Tom Clancy was probably the largest factor in Siege not having a story.

1 ReplyBeen playing rainbow six games for years now and I think it's this game is really good, but the lack of campaign definitely hurts the game a lot.

2 RepliesEdited by Guardian7477: 12/9/2015 4:47:45 PMOn par with fps games when? The games always had a low population.

10 RepliesI agree completely... Rainbow six Vegas 2 is one of my favorite games of all time and beating the game on Realistic difficulty with my best friend when we were like 9 years old was one of the highlights of gaming childhood... The campaign was so damn replayable I loved it so much, this new game is, exactly as you put it, a one trick pony... No campaign, no hugging walls and blind firing, no stealth mechanics to have fun with, and I would've thought they would given at least a regular team death match game mode... As of right now, the only way to play is to wait for hours to find a game, the load in as either a terrorist and start barring shit up or as a fücking drone... I wanna play a god damn team death match...

11 RepliesEscape from tarkov and ArmA. The only shooter's I currently care about.

It's amazing in my option and sniper support is a definite in that game my god twitches semi auto from the roof across the control room in canal killed everyone

Siege is great and playing ranked matches are intense. It's a great competitive multi-player game.
-
10 RepliesSiege was always a multiplayer only game with all planned DLC being free. Basically they wanted to make a game to compete with CS:GO. A long term tactical competitive FPS with a dedicated hardcore following. Right now it's going pretty well, Ubisoft just needs to fix the netcode issues and glitches.

4 RepliesSiege has much better gameplay than the 2 vegas games. If they put in more of those missions like article 5 and some what of a character customization. And more open maps so you can get sniper support i think it would be perfect.

6 RepliesThey shouldn't have scrapped Patriots.

6 RepliesDude siege is -blam!-ing awesome who cares about a shitting one time only campaign
