Challenge mode announced today?!
Hey guys, since Black Ops 3 is out tomorrow and then Fallout 4 is out on Tuesday, Bungie really needs to find a way to retain its player base.
I'm not saying that these games will kill destiny but they will certainly pull people away, some for longer than others.
That being said, I tried to think of what they could do for this Tuesday to minimise player loss. A new exotic wouldn't be enough in my opinion so that only leaves Challenge mode for the raid.
My prediction is that tonight, Bungie will announce that challenge mode will be available come Tuesday. I'm from the UK so the weekly update is usually released in about 8-10 hours from now.
What do you guys think? I want to get this popular to see how many people were right or not for when the update comes out!
Edit: So the weekly update is out and nothing about challenge mode was said! Bungie messed up big time!

Honestly they don't need to do anything to keep the player base. It already exists. A lul in numbers won't hurt them. They have our money already from the last release, and making cash from microtransactions. They're probably hard at work making future content and when they drop the news that X DLC or quests etc are coming out. Everyone will run back in to complete it. I don't think they need to compete with a release of other games. I plan on playin Fallout 4, but if they say they're dropping something I'll return no problem.

I highly doubt they'd release challenge mode on a tuesday anyway. Given the last raids, KF NM/HM and Crota have been on Fridays with their stupid race challenge.

1 ReplyDoubt it. Hard mode was just released 2 weeks ago and the completion percent is not high. Bungie wants to get more of the mid-level players engaged in Raids and other activities since they are the ones most likely to leave. Don't think they will cater directly to the diehard players right now.

The multiplayer feels “meh” after playing the beta and the campaign hasn't been very good these past few years. This is more then likely the last Call of Duty I will buy. Fallout 4, on the other hand, might grab my attention. However, don't expect Destiny to “fade” from our minds. There will still be many playing Destiny during other game releases.

Why am I playing tonight? Why am I logging on for my Friday night raid tomorrow? Do you guys trade in games and only have one at a time?

I hope they do announce the challenge mode raid. It will just prove to me that the only arrow left in the Bungie quiver for this game IS ToO and Raids. I love the people that bash CoD games for being "recycled" yet continue to blindly defend Destiny's raid progression. Please Bungie, continue to pander to the lowest portion of your player base. Continue to "stealth release" time-locked content. Continue to fund your "free" events designed to get people to buy MORE Silver.
