The level cap has been raised again so soon. This is turning into a grind fest. People are barely hitting 310 and are complaining about unfair raid drops such as receiving gear you already own at a lower light. Hard mode is going to have armor dropping above 310, instead it should yield elemental primaries along with armor that can possibly be maxed at 310. Destiny always had some sort of grind but it's never felt this bad and with hard mode coming along its only getting worse.
Bungie has created a carrot that is nearly impossible to obtain. Some simple numbers to support my statement. Current raid armor drops anywhere between 300-310, that's a 1/11 chance that you will get a piece of gear at maxed light. If that wasn't bad enough it seems the vast majority of people are getting more mouldering shards than anything else. Armor drops are infrequent and on top of that the raid can only be completed once a week for rewards.
Exotics are another option to obtain max level but even then it's another endless chase. Since 3 of Coins has been nerfed a large portion of players are reporting infrequent exotic drops even when using the coins as they were meant to. I've used about 60 coins since the nerf and from my experience for best results you need to wait 20 minutes between usage. I've netted an average of 1 exotic per 5 coins using the aforementioned cooldown time. Less than a handful of those were maxed at 310. If the item you want to infuse is less than 305 then it will not reach 310. A lot of random factors involved right? To make things worse, the engrams are random as well (obviously). So 7 different possible engrams, 1/7 chances the one you need drops. Plus the chance that it actually decodes to max light. It's an endless grind!
For once the odds are really against us! This will be an endless grind to attain overall max light. The closer you get to max, the harder it will become to attain overall max light level.
Edit- Lots of people saying Destiny is an MMO and it is not. MMOs do not raise the level cap so often like Destiny. World of Warcraft for example, Mists of Pandaria was released in 2012 and then the next expansion, Warlords of Draenor was released in 2014. For TWO YEARS the level cap was the same but the game had enough CONTENT to sustain a healthy population for that long.
Which brings me to my next point, grinding ≠ content. Some people are saying grinding for gear is content, it baffles me that people actually think that. Grinding the same content over and over again for better gear does not equal content. How does anyone even think that?
Edit 2- WoW raises gear level every several months. Not twice in a month and the gear isn't a random light level like ours. My point stands. Also for those that keep mentioning VOG helmet. It's not one piece of gear that is keeping us from the new cap and even without the VOG helmet you could reach the cap as a "fake 30" (fun times lol). We now have to reacquire ALL weapons and ALL armor for the new cap, not just one item that is keeping us from the current cap.

So you're mad that they actually are making you play the game a lot to get the gear you want? This is what people wanted. And I'm having a blast with it

Either they are complaining about bad loot (which is a normal rpg thing btw) or it's to easy... there is always something to cry about

Sooooo.... go play something else?

1 ReplyPlay at your own pace. I'm ok with being level 295

It was not ever going to be easy to get to max level it was not ever meant to be easy or quick yet players like YOU always probably thought it was or would be. This game was always going to be one massive long grind. It was never going to have the amount of content as a traditional pc mmo ever. This game was not made for casual joe who though he could have it all in a short time or in just one game. it was made for no life kim. the player that did what ever was needed to get what they wanted no matter how much time it was going to take.

I do just fine at 299

People need to quit calling destiny an MMO, and trying to use that to fall back on. Everything people are screaming about are aspects of an RPG, MMO or not.
-
It's great imo. Keeps me playing and wanting to get to max level. I hate the KF loot drops just as everyone else does because I can't get a helmet for shit and when I get the same armor or weapon, it's light level is always lower than the one I already have!
-
9 RepliesIdk I'm about to take a big step back until they fix it Which will probably be never lol Idk man, HoW was the best expansion they've had I will get hate mail over saying that lol call it a mistake that we could ascend all the old stuff, and the poe weapons were kind of crap But, and it's a big but They added strikes They added poe They added trials They added new pvp maps Ascending our gear kept anyone that didn't have all the raid gear from crota/vog playing the older content (me along with most everyone else i played with were missing one thing or another) The taken king has added 3 strikes but took away 4 Added crucible maps but took more away Added a raid but took 3 away And fu to everyone that says 'oh they're still playable, blah blah blah, play for fun' They've made this game so fcuking ridiculously time consuming that I'm not doing anything unless it has a chance (small that is is) to progress upward Made it so it's next to impossible to reach max level, only 3 shots a week and the math is way outside our favor on that unless you are extremely lucky They nerf ToC They nerf weapon parts They nerf motes and coins I don't get why they expect us to keep playing when they keep making it more time consuming and less likely to get max level
-
I think they have no choice but to have a grind like this. I think it's there way of making it feel like you get your value. It's hard to have content like wow when there are no monthly fees to play. People don't work for free. So we are stuck with what we have. If they had a fee, I think you would see new content every other week.

1 ReplyOn top of shitty raid drops what's making it even worse is that a lot of people run 3 characters within the first few days and what else is really left? Pretty much waiting for reset. I keep saying that maybe a good idea would be making the raid rewards similar to legendary marks on the Weekly. You can run only 3 times for loot and you can do it on any character. That or you can run as many times as you want but after the first time on each character you only get drops from Oryx.
-
Yea I agree with you. THE DESTINY GRIND NOT WORTH IT :D
-
I agree the grind is the worst it's ever been. While ttk made some vast improvements and I've enjoyed it all immensely. The grind is terrible, before you had max level armour drops from raids with weapons staged over normal and hard mode. Now we have to grind to infuse to near three hundred and then grind and grind to get to 310 then grind a shit tin more to get to 320. This is a step backwards in my opinion.
-
9 RepliesThey should make it so that 10 moldering shards can boost a piece of armor by 1 point. That 306 chest piece you just got? Save your shards for 2 raids and it's now 310.
-
1 Replywhat's the new level cap?
-
Only a few days away from destiny collecting dust.
-
I agree. Plus i just don't have the time to keep on grinding what with work, family and other interests. Plus the days of about 80% of my friends list playing Destiny are long gone. Only 2 or 3 still play the game.
-
Edited by Hyde_87: 10/20/2015 6:57:15 AMI don't think you are supposed to get to the level cap. I'm 306 and I guess the chase to try and be 307 keeps me playing but it's not like you NEED to be 310 for anything.

4 RepliesThis is gambling. People get addicted to gambling... people get addicted to Destiny.
