Seems really unfair to me. Instead of maybe improving the matchmaking or something bungie takes the easy route and listen to the crybabies. Many of these people may have been playing fair but their connection may take a dip every once in a while, then they get banned. This is the first game I have heard of that bans players not for cheating, but for not buying better internet. Halo never did that, and bungie made halo...
I know a few of my friends have had internet problem, now I won't be able to play with them in crucible because they'll get banned. To me, this seem really unfair.
edit:
So many people are happy about these bans. I am disgusted to be a part of this community, to make these unfair bans rather than just find a way to solve it with maybe matchmaking or dedicated servers. People payed as much as for their current internet provider which could be limited in some areas, payed for the expansions to continue playing, and then get banned from part of the game for simply have poor internet. Not great with advertising either:
"Come play Destiny, we ban players with poor internet!"
Even if you don't like having to play against someone with poor internet, remember there could have been another solution, but no you immediately cry to ban them, heartless. Instead of focusing on bans, bungie should have focused on better matchmaking in my opinion.

Who is banned for bad connection? No one?
-
They shouldn't be banned, but maybe they could help themselves. Hard wire your console. Don't have multiple devices using the Internet if not needed. Give your console a static port for priority. Every little helps. My friend had terrible speeds (still does but), around 1MB down, ping through the roof. He wired his console and gained another 1MB and halved his ping. Rarely red bars, nice constant stable connection.

Bans are temporary so it's not the end of the world. People argue that those with poor connection should be allowed to play content that they pay for. But what about when they lag so bad, it impacts other peoples' ability to play the content that they payed for? If I shoot you five times point blank with a shotgun and then use my melee ability on you only for you to teleport to the other side of the room and then I instantly drop dead, I'm not really able to play what I payed for. Players with poor connection impact players with good connections. Cut out the infection. Problem solved.

Bungie is too cheap/lazy to go with dedicated servers. The community has asked for this since beta. The current solution of banning players is absolutely ridiculous. It's more Bungie's fault than anyone else's. They ignore what really needs fixing and use emotes, silver, light up balls and helmets in the tower as smoke screens. Bungie's response to anything that's broken: "We are aware of the issue and are investigating". PvP has been a joke since launch, and they are still investigating. Someone from Bungie will be along shortly to delete my post... God forbid someone speak the truth about the way they continue to do nothing.

You should be banned for bad Internet.
-
Where is the info on this? Thanks in advance.

Can I put this out there, for those with poor connections, how would you feel about getting kicked 15-30 seconds into every crucible game you joined, or being so far behind the gameplay that you could hardly get a kill (dedicated servers), would that not permanently put you off crucible for good anyway? It sucks that you can lose access to a game based on your internet connection when that's largely something out of your control, but there is such a thing as minimum requirements. The trade off of the live environment that Destiny exists in, is that it requires a substantial amount of upstream bandwidth to maintain a decent connection

Yes it's extremely fair

Let them all match together! :)

1 ReplyAre they going to be banning people from ALL of Crucible? Or just special events like Trials and Iron Banner?
-
5 RepliesI'm sorry but this may seem unfair but come on. Most ISPs offer faster internet down/up speed. If you're running 1-5 MBs down/up you need an upgrade on life

Ban, NO! Boot to orbit, yes
-
I think its stupid how they still play with red bars , it influences on the whole game because one second your shooting him , and the next he teleports to narnia. Like DAFUQ? If i had a red bar i would just stick to pve and not play pvp at all.
-
I agree with it. People play knowing they red bar every game and it diminishes many other players experience rather than just one player who is red bar.

Considering lag is a serious problem in the crucible I think it's pretty reasonable. If you are hurting the experience for other players intentionally or not you should be timed out

This is no other title like Destiny. Destiny is 100 percent online from the second you login. It has an app that can be operated from anywhere that instantly contacts and can make changes in real time to the destiny world. I agree the internet could be better but literally every multiplayer game you will ever play has lag. You will go onto the call of duty forums and see the same problem. It's definitely an issue and there is no easy fix because bungie has no control over who plays the game. But we all need to understand the always connected digital age we live in where games are becoming more demanding than ever on our systems. Internet connection is no exception to that at all. The better games look and the bigger they get, the better internet will be required. I believe this not going to be the only game to do this. I expect very soon that certain internet speeds will become recommended and even required for games. Slow internet is on its way out, it's tough to hear for those in remote places but it's reality.

3 RepliesI have crappy 6 mb Internet .... best in the area and yet I rarely red bar ... so I guess I feel if u red bar constantly that maybe that is a choice ur making..
-
2 RepliesI believe in the update it said they can tell the difference between an occasional spike and a constant internet problems. But hey accidents can happen and it is bungie lol.
-
5 RepliesHow can you not understand it ruins the experience of other players? How can you not understand your shit Internet gives you an unfair advantage in the crucible? Get it fixed or get banned for ruining our experience
-
Edited by Amishboy2011: 10/18/2015 6:15:40 PMRestricted access is unfair, but if you are just lagging so bad it's actually ruining the experience for players in the lobby, you should be booted. Your money is not any better than mine so if your lag ruins my game and 10 others, you shouldn't be in that particular game. It's frustrating when you can't kill people but they can kill you. A lot of scenarios I understand people complain and it isn't the case but there is a lot of undeniable instances where that person should simply not be there. Like I said just eliminating the activity is absolutely unfair for those players, but something had to be done also, because they did something similar with BO2. Which I think would work better where your out for minutes, not long periods. Because if you're just having bad connections for hours on end you are dying the game for a load of players which isn't that fair either. This is just a temporary step im sure to the actual solution.

Sorry kiddies You bought a game that requires a real Internet. Don't spend money on things you don't have the resources for.
