I have slow internet and usually red bar. It's the fastest internet in my area so I can't upgrade. Did they just say if my internet compromises the experience for others even though it is unintentional I'll be banned?

You should be fine pal. Don't worry.

2 RepliesFunny thing is 9 times out of 10 your internet is not to blame. Because bungie said Na to dedicated servers your getting paired with guys from all over the world. Which problably isn't easy to do without lag between everyone
-
Hopefully they just match based on connection in the future. Reds can still play but 90% of the others don't suffer.
-
Not sure about that, but if anything all slow connection people should be paired together in match making

compromises the experience for others
They are weighing the experience of one player against the experience of all the players that they play against. This is an inevitable eventuality as gaming routers that block poor connections, and thus laggy players, become more prevalent. Eventually it will be a base functionality on most routers. If you want to be mad, be mad at your internet provider who like monopolistic drug cartels meet up and agree not to compete in the same area, meaning they can set the price and don't have to upgrade their service to remain above the competition. They even tried to destroy net neutrality so that if a content provider like sony, microsoft, facebook, google, etc want to have a good connection for their users they would have to pay a premium or us the consumer would suffer even slower speeds.
-
Totally understand the reason why...and it is a good idea. I hope bungie do something about the quest lines you need to go into crucible because certain weapons won't be available to all...isn't that discrimination for having a rubbish provider ?

1 ReplyFYI on how P2P, Dedicated Server/Client works. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-the-lag-effect-psn-xbox-live-analysis

The problem is most people assume someone on red bar is causing lag that isn't even there. I was accused by a guy of being the reason he couldn't kill my team mate because I was the only red bar yet he could kill me just fine -_-. I live in the country so I'm still on copper wire instead of optic meaning in destiny I'm always a red bar connection even though it causes no lag issues. The problem is Destiny. Call of duty and other games, despite this copper wire, I'm full green bar and on computer I keep a really low ping yet according to this one game I'm a red bar which means if anyone has any difficulty I'm the one to blame -_-
-
Look, I'm not really a competitive player, but people with bad lag issues ruin the Crucible. This is a good change.
-
Yeah, they did. It's Bullsh*t
-
Good riddance. Why should you get to ruin 11 other players experience, just because you "can't help it?"

Edited by Flanders9000: 10/17/2015 3:57:26 PMU have the McDonald's parking lot internet right?

2 RepliesWhere you from South America

This is the best update bungie have done for Pvp.
-
Well I have slow internet too and do I think this is fair? Of course! Sure, I may want to enjoy the Crucible or have to do a exotic bounty that concerns Crucible... But I also understand that my participation in Crucible is a hazardous experience to other people in the game. (Except for the fact that my red bar only hinders me from actually killing others and helps my opponents...)

the world isnt nice

You shouldn't be playing PvP if your connection is that bad, it really ruins the game for anyone involved.
-
Basically stay out of IB and trials.

6 RepliesTemporary ban yes
-
4 RepliesPlaying Conquest Large on Bf4 yields no problems for me, but 6 vs 6 on Destiny is a crap shoot. Ranging from great to down right awful. They want to ban me, so be it. There is tons of other games to play and Bungie will never see another penny from me.

3 RepliesEdited by dru the savage: 10/17/2015 1:17:59 AMHaving a good internet is just as important as having the console. Its unfortunate, but necessary for the majority to be able to enjoy the game as intended
-
1 Replyno that is not what he said, Lag Switching and having a problem connection are two completely different things and they can tell the difference when they go back and look at the matches. If you are having issues though I recommend switching your DNS settings on your system to manual and using Google's or Open DNS
-
Don't play pvp... Stick to what your internet is fair for: pve and story modes of games.
-
OOOOOHHH YEEEEAAAAHHH!
-
They have been saying that since August 13 weekly update
-
I sure hope so, redbars ruin the already sh!t PvP experience in this game.
