Hunters were born to be Sword Bearers. Not that Titans and Warlocks can't. It just looks more natural to see a Hunter with a sword. Plus you can go invisible and get up close to an enemy and wail on them.

I don't think carrying around a large sword is natural for a hunter, a small blade yes but not a sword
