I really do like this game, but one of my favorite YouTubers has been (for lack of a better term) ripping this game a new ass. The video above is his opinion about microtransactions being implemented and the overall state of destiny and it's possible affect on the overall gaming community. Despite him not playing the game a lot of what he says actually makes sense. I just thought it was a good video food for thought if you will. Regardless I'd like to hear your opinions that is ONLY if you watch the entire video.

Bungie wont mess this up; simple as that.

Hey, I'm not one to put things on blast or to hype something beyond the scope of criticism, but if one hasn't played a game, ones opinion of the game doesn't hold any weight. Opinions do not hold much weight anyway, but an ignorant opinion is weightless. Microtransactions aren't the devils lure, they aren't catastrophic, they're emotes. Ones slippery slope fallacies and gloom and doom perspectives and conspiracies of corporate greed do nothing to solidify their claims. The most well thought out reaction a person could have is to wait and see. Now before you tell me that conspiracies of corporate greed are real, I do realize that they need to make money, but they do So with some degree of integrity (doesn't have to match your idea of it, just has to be profitable) in regards to their consumers. Lets ride the slippery slope fallacy. Say they sell guns and armor for your money tomorrow. A company wouldn't make those items a higher light level than the items achievable through the current systems placed in the game. It would be PR suicide. In this mindset it allows persons with complex lives and little time to play the game an opportunity to enjoy content without the grind. This doesn't make them, fake/lame/p2winnars or any other lame terminology the internet culture can scrub off their boots. It makes them consumers, just like the rest of us. Business evolves people. Just because two people could make a triple A game in 1980 doesn't mean two can in 2015. By the time they get it done the tech their game is based on is old. So we need massive teams, who to not work for free(yay emancipation proclamation) to develop games. They need to be paid. Don't support it? Don't buy it, but ones dismissal of people that don't mind the microtansactions doesn't do anything except breed toxicity. And I use "ones" because the royal "you" confuses people at times and they think I'm speaking about an individual.

Not-required cosmetics that fund free dlc = good Somewhat-required gear and pay-to-win = bad
-
As long as they stay purely cosmetic and optional then nobody should have a problem

giv us ur money and wii wull giv you many dnce movs. Sincerely, Bungy

3 RepliesTHEY SELL DANCE MOVES, NOT POWER. I AM FINE WITH THIS.
-
3 RepliesI am not watching some video of some entitled white nerd living with his folks to know that Bungie is not a non-profit company.
-
7 RepliesIts a shame players support this practice as it proliferates, but that is life.
-
2 Replies"Despite him not playing the game" Immediate analysis, is opinion of a game that he doesn't play means nothing to me.
-
2 RepliesThose players that willingly paid for dance moves with this last expansion set a precedent: people will spend money on bullshit. Bungie is only obliging. If they think they are going to finance year 2 on dance moves, I'm actually disappointed in the players that made them think that is an option. But again, if some crackhead Guardians want to buy useless fluff so I don't have to pay anymore, I say let socialism play it's part

2 RepliesEdited by SweetZombieJesus: 10/7/2015 7:28:12 PMI think it's all cynical negative assumption at this point. Everyone just wants to light the fire. I'm not an idealist or cynical. So, it is what it is and I personally believe what they've stated which is Tess trading will never prevent players from playing the game in a competitive way. I'd rather move ahead having fun, then spaz out about it. In the end I have little to no motivation to preserve the morality of the industry. Idealism is ridiculous. I think they can make a ton of money from selling, jackolytes, Santa hats, reindeer ears, Easter bunny ears, or any time based consumable ie."Use this to turn your shader into a glittery rainbow for the next 30 mins!". Add in new gestures, dances, waves, etc. They have themselves a nifty way to sucker in a few. Edit: if they breakout the Cayde thumbs up emote... I'll buy it in a heart beat.

1 ReplyMicrotransactions will be fine as long as they stay cosmetic. This, as it turns out, has been the case for as long as Bungie has envisioned it. Someone on reddit did some digging and found that bungie has always only ever wanted it to be cosmetic: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/3nu5hb/bungie_never_lied_about_microtransactions_and/ Can't really watch the video right now since I'm at work.

2 RepliesTUNE IN TO CHANNEL ZERO (4x)
Yo.. Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusin' and reality becomes illusion. If I showed the masses where we was at or where we was going. I'd shatter the balance of Destiny as we know it. I'm talkin' bout the grand deception of this bitch Tess Everis's and her Trading Post of souls sold to the heavens. For technologically advanced weapons, engrams enhanced, emotion implants and RMT methods. Pay 2 win is not majestic and the focal point of our problems on this planet are not Vex infested. You can accept it or be shill'd and be a skeptic and fail to recognize Activisions secret death wish. 97% of our content has always been present. Responsible for laundrin' millions of dollars from the nation. For the construction of underhanded micr-trans installations. Abductions and profit margin calculations Experiments on human patients; Can take place in several Corporate HQ bases. 343 stories below a basement with knowledge of Guardians expectations You need to fear Bungie not Satan. Cause through the manipulation of certain monetary agents They create strange creations. Top secret special operations. Low drop chance, duplicates, gated contents When Plebs didn't believe in the Pay-2-Win equation. Deej was keepin' them on a need to know basis What you need to know is that this is a game and we're being portrayed and played in the worst way
TUNE IN TO CHANNEL ZERO (3x) TUNE IN TO CHANNEL ZEROOOO

2 RepliesI think it is perfectly fair to do. I don't care about emotes so I won't buy any, however someone else might be willing to pay for them. In the end I am not out anything and others that do pay are trading their money for an item they want. No harm no foul. Plus it helps to create a revenue stream. Supporting destiny isn't cheap. They have a lot on employees to pay. So I doubt free dlcs are coming but I do see this as an optional way to fund staff with out increasing dlc pricing. I see only positives here and I am all for it.
-
1 ReplyIf it means Vex Void and Forge of the Gods are free then it works for me. Would be better to have optional cosmetic microtransactions than season passes. No one gets left behind. Guess we'll have to wait and see how it pans out :)

1 ReplyF2p elements should not be in a AAA,full retail priced game. Bungie is alligned with a publisher that has no problem funding destiny as long as it remains profitable, and so far,it has. It has a 500 million dollar budget,a budget many developers wish they had,and somehow still need to implement microtransactions? There is no reasons for microtransactions to be in destiny other than cashing in on the lack of customization. Sure you can say its just cosmetics but thats the first step until it becomes p2w. But who knows,it might not get that far, maybe the destiny community wont turn their favourite game into a p2w mess. But the whole luke smith controversy has me worried that bungie will cross that line and the fans wont care and even worse, defend them. Luke smith calling the destiny community "a bunch of idiots who will buy anything he wants us to." Didnt stop millions of players from buying his overpriced cosmetics. Thats my opinion on the subject.

Don't give a monkeys fcuk one way or the other.
-
Basically my thought
-
Its up to you if you want to spend money on silver. It's not going to break the game.
-
1 ReplyIt's fine sconce there's no weapons or armor so I'm fine with it
-
We have just all paid for new DLC. Europe and Aus have paid even more than the US. The DLC has just been released and now they want more money for things that really should have been in the DLC. To say the least I am disgusted with this game and market Don't get me wrong. I love playing, I love playing with friends but this whole thing is leaving a bad taste in my mouth and it's making me hate the game.
-
1 ReplyMicro transactions should never exist. Companies should include cosmetic items within a DLC not hide them behind pay walls. All micro transactions are is a money grabbing exploit that preys on it's most loyal customers. Worst idea ever invented. I will never support them.

It's a good addition

I think you're an idiot. I think you're an idiot for holding an opinion that came from a youtuber. I think you're an idiot if you think this makes the game "pay to play." To reiterate I think you're an idiot.
