Theory: Year two players will not get the exotic sword...
That step where you have to grind for hours for relic iron or whatever you need for your sword quest, I have a theory thats where they will give up. They dont remember the days back in year one before you could just buy all materials...you had to grind for them. Year one vets remember the grind for relic, helium, spinmetal and sprit bloom. I think they will give up because their not used to it, their used to being able to buy it. Just a thought I had during the grind.
Edit: Just a tip: Dont do a void sword on a hunter. The 500 kills you have to get with void abilities is insane. The bow kills only count if you kill them with the arrow and the grenades are ok'ish and melees are not void. Pretty much had to get 500 grenade kills... :/
Edit: Damn...all I did was have a thought while doing the grind and thought I would come here to express my theory. I didn't know you bastereds world run my phone battery dead, cause it vibrates every 2 seconds for a new notification...lol
Edit: And you think the horror ends there....o no. Next Wednesday, I think you have to do a light lvl 300 strike.

Been playing since HoW and I have no problem finding planetary materials now those rare materials for the quest.....**** 1 drops every 20 material

Yeah the void sword on a hunter is rough the grind is unreal and I have to do it two more times. Plus that strike is actually challenging especially if you try to get credit for two different knights at once.

And we didn't have ghosts that pointed the materials out for us either.

It is pretty brutal even if you remember the old days, since chests were actually helpful. Eventually I just found 3 nodes, owned them, went into another instance and came back. That resets them so you can farm them, but it only works if you were the only person in that instance.

Void kills only counting, by getting a kill with the arrow is false. I got the Dark Drinker and I used Blood Bound on the Dark Beyond. Did it in about 1hr and 30mins

I got the exotic void sword on my hunter was so easy. The nightstalker has the "keen scout" perk which shows all planet materials, paired with a ghost it took me 15-20 minutes. The void ability kills took about the same. Void wall grenade and double poison grenade (sealed ahmkara gauntlets) on the first mission on the moon ( the dark beyond?) Throw grenade down, they run through and all die, same with poison. I will also give all the other elemental swords to my hunter just for the keen scout perk. It is so much easier and quicker.

Lucky rasberry and seige of a warmind... Grenade upon spawn, you can prolly get about 5-10 kills if you group them, not to mention your poison smoke and super as they refil.

1 ReplyVoid Sword Hunter here. It's not that hard to rack up void ability kills with Nightstalker. It's all about that void wall grenade. And I already helped a buddy get his sword on the 300 strike. It was hard but far from impossible, and I was 20 levels under. The grind is real though.

year one guy here. idk what the hell i am doing wrong but i have so much relic iron from going around and picking up damn relic iron from all over mars and i have yet to complete the first part. my theory is do i need a ghost that can find relic or do i have to just get lucky. any suggestions? ps the void ability kills for the hunter is not hard at all just go to mission seige of the warmind use both your grenades on the hordes of thrall that spawn rinse and repeat you can get up to 6% up everytime if done correctly. also make sure your have the tether effect that explodes enemies when you kill one it works trust me..
