17 RepliesNo, for 2 reasons: - the level 40 cap is for expansion owners. Didn't buy? Then you don't get to expand upon the previous cap - being level 40 will do nothing for you since all of the above 34 content is locked behind the expansion anyway, as is all the level 40 gear

No. Getting to level 40 is one of the perks of purchase, and the key to unlock things that people have paid for. People who didn't pay should not be able to get the level 40 gear and weapons or do the level 40 activities. Those who did pay, did not do so to have people complain until they took from those who paid and give it to those who won't. By now, the message should be clear. Follow along with the progress of the game, deal with the fact that you hit a hard cap, or find something else to play. It has worked for other games for years; nothing new to see here.

I'm okay with them reaching 40, it's not like they have the plethora of quests to do like we have so it'll take them a while.

Reaching level 40 is part of getting TTK. If you don't have it then its not fair we had to pay 40$ to reach the max level and they didn't. Level 40 is part of TTK. And besides whats the point? You can't equip any new gear, play the new missions because you don't have TTK.

Why so many no's? I have TTK and I think it'd be fine. They made it so in the other expansions.

No. I wasn't too happy forking out the £40 for TTK expansion, but I did anyways, because I wanted to keep playing Destiny with the latest content. So why on earth should it be deemed fair for everyone else who hasn't paid to be able to have that content for free. It would mean Bungie would have to start refunding players who bought TTK. And we all know that won't happen. If you have enough money to buy a console and the original Destiny, then save up some more to buy TTK. Otherwise, it's tough luck, son.
