The cries of Draksis have made it across the Cozmos to the ears of Bungie. He's tired of pooping yellow balls with every 5th or so rocket blast and has in true Destiny fashion demanded a nerf.
Here's a comment from Cozmo from another post:
"DeeJ and I were just conferring with the Design Team about how Three of Coins is performing in the wild. They are aware that the drop rates are too damn high, but for now this works in your favor. You earned those coins. Have fun spending them. The Nine may be delighted that you're blowing them all now."
There's no way a change isn't coming...here is my proposal for a fair solution to the "problem."
Make the coins only work for mobs in the expansion or any raid boss. Put a 5 minute cooldown on the coin to discourage repeat kills. KEEP THE DROP RATE AS IS.
Your thoughts, Guardians?

1 ReplyKeep it the way it is. The grind is already high, no need to increase it further more.
-
Crazy how people complain about how it's easy to get exotics lol wtf
-
Edited by Skids420: 9/21/2015 11:24:42 AM5 min cooldown = fair fix Edit: no 10 min. seems more realistic I mean that would be like 1 every other strike(mine last about 4-5 mins each depending on the strike.)

1 ReplyRAISE THE PRICE A I S E T H E P R I C E It's 7 strange coins now yes? Make it 35 or hell, even 50. That way you grind just to have a shot at owning the damn things
-
No timer... But make it work on strikes. Preferably heroic strikes. Why would i go and try to time using a coin pressing start beside a mob of enemies and bosses ? Tf..
-
3 RepliesMake them only work on Heroic strikes and above.
-
The drop rate is ok, but just like some other people say make it so they only work on bosses lvl 41 or above. Failing that confine their use to heroic/nightfall strikes and raids.
-
Or just make it apply to stoke bosses only... Such a simple way to nerf it if you really have to.
-
What about regicide
-
Maybe just don't have xur sell them very often. For now the people who have farmed tons of exotics won't have a reason really to do it as much. Also over time if xur doesn't sell them then that gives people time to play and earn them as intended.

Finally! Someone with some sense, and has a very good solution that will hopefully satisfy everyone. I certainly wouldn't mind. Also, may I point out that most people chose bacon. Because you know... bacon.
-
Since they are stackable putting an immediate cool down wouldn't work but maybe like a 5 minute cool down after the buff expires would work

4 RepliesEdited by EvilStalker: 9/21/2015 12:39:26 AMKeep it the way it is .... im not gunna grind for weeks to level up weapons and armour. And coins we need them also to lvl up . This game is far better off this way .. its more fun and enjoyable. . Now go away and grind those quest .

3 RepliesI mean, I thought it was gonna work only for strike bosses and raid bosses, not just any rindky-dinky ultra. I'd say that would be a good fix, no drop rate change and you actually have to spend time, and even better drop rate for raid bosses because they take more people and coordination to defeat. The drop rate is fine. It's the back to back insta-kill farming which is the problem. Cool down of 10 minutes. Either way, people will still crank em to death.

12 RepliesEdited by Wayne712: 9/21/2015 12:11:44 AMLimit the number that can be bought in a week - problem solved Edit: not that I have a problem with it... Just spent about 200 coins on em and been messing Draksis up all weekend

3 RepliesMaybe make a 290 strike playlist, which I believe some similar may come out in the future. ( there's a greyed out circle on the top if you go into the vanguard playlist). This playlists bosses can exclusively count towards 3oC kills. It would inspire less afkers in raids, as well as a solid grind motivation for people. I love the idea of a cool down being added so this would also implement that naturally. I personally love the idea of being able to feel like I'm entitled to an exotic engram from a boss eventually.
-
Make it for only higher level bosses like for strikes and only certain story missions, decreasing the drop rate won't crap to stop farming, repeated farming will still be the best way, even more so if the drop rate is decreased
-
Strike bosses/raid bosses only. Can only use once every two ultra kills(keep the drop rate as is
-
Just make it so only heroic strike or nightfall bosses drop. Three of coins should be a end game item anyways. So having to play the "harder" strikes to use it makes sense.
-
1 ReplyJust make story bosses non-ultras. problem solved.
-
id say leave it as it is, I paid for my access to use them I will use them. " its not fair he had a bigger stock pile of coins to burn through, he got more chances, yes I did it but not enough, they cant have more than me"
-
4 RepliesThe drop rate is NOT the problem. I've personally tried 15 coins myself and out of 15 tries only got 1 exotic engram to drop. I've also seen as many as 3 drop in 10 attempts. So it's very random. The "problem" if you will, is the AMOUNT of coins people are purchasing in order to farm these engrams. You have people buying upwards of 80-100 coins (sometimes more) and just farming over and over again repeatedly. My "fair" solution would be to simply limit the number of coins that you can purchase per week. Kind of like how you could only buy two etheric lights when Iron Banner rolled around. If you limit it to say, 1 pack of 5 coins per character that would still give you 15 coins per account. Plenty to use and try to earn anywhere from 1-4 exotics per week depending on how lucky you get. I think that would be the most fair solution to the issue, and still allow players to use them however they want rather than forcing them into a raid or strike.

Any strike or raid boss would be better.

2 RepliesWhy isn't this post becoming about all bacon?

1 ReplyWhat they do need to fix is the ultras that don't count but still take your buff!! That's criminal coding there bungie.
