Played both in depth, over a hundred hours in both. Feel free to update this list, but please think like the middle ground. Warframe: -Full Player customization -Lackluster Story (Yes, very lackluster) -Tolerable RNG -Free to play, comes with microtransactions -Poor gameplay (Unless you consider mindlessly butchering people gameplay) -Buggy (kind of) -Parkour -Questing is fun until endgame, where you have a raid and events to farm materials -Crafting -Tile generated maps (Think randomized environments or "no two maps are the same") -Each boss has dungeon boss mechanics, but toned down, though most are just oversized versions of normal enemies. -Unnoticeable music, very sound effect heavy -Has a controlled trading system, limited to the game's version of exotic gear and various materials -Matchmaking most activities, however, 8/10 times you'll most likely play with someone who has some stupidly overpowered loadout. Bring friends along for the ride. -Favors creative plays styles, guns blazing, stealthy, hack n' slash, you name it. -Background lore is horrendous here. The ingame codex requires you to grind out time to learn about factions and the sort. Most of it is just what unit drops what resource. -Well developed equipment upgrading system, allows you to make any gun as OP as you can. -Social hubs serve no real purpose as your ship lets you do everything for you, go there to talk I guess? -PvP seems kinda empty? Played with the same people over the course of a week and I didn't have them in a party with me -Balancing happens every so often, but because of the modding system, players can make any weapon as powerful as they want -Made by a smaller, indie games company Destiny (Including changes made in TTK): -Cinematically driven storytelling, your character has a very minor voice, but isn't mute -RNG has been made very generous -Activision makes this game expensive (Bungie develops games, they don't handle the pricing) -Solid gameplay (immediately familiar to Halo/CoD players) -Limited customization -Quests now come with small story lines -No longer tries to take itself seriously -Music often outpaces the action -Great deal of exploration -Endgame includes three raids and multiple dungeons (Strikes), only three of said strikes have real mechanics in them -Grind heavy, changes were made, but still the same. -No trading, small bits of matchmaking, but bring friends along for the ride, it's more fun that way -Lacks variety in weapon upgrades, leave it to RNG to decide your gun shoots fire or electric bullets -Very lonely (No friendly NPCs other than the the ones in the social hubs) -Social hub is small, but fits every purpose needed -PvP is big in Destiny, so big it's the deciding factor in what guns get updated buffs/nerfs-wise -Forum community is the purest form of evil, has gotten better since TTK's recent release -Devs have an ineffective form of balancing, typically going overboard and just straight up murdering a few weapons (See Auto Rifles) -Devs do listen, just very quiet and don't acknowledge the fact they have listened, 35% of that listening is to the community, the other 65% is to Activision making sure they remain in guidelines to their contract. -Made by a well known and very popular gaming company Pick your poison, don't play either if you have epilepsy. EDIT: Made this list for those who want to know the ups and downs of both games, will update list regularity because my mind only works so often. Destiny's list includes changes made in the most recently released expansion.

  • Yes the major difference here is Activision intends to milk ma hard earn marneys every time there's an update (aka DLC), would have continued playing Destiny until i noticed the DLC trend which will continue for the years to come. I decided to cut my loses and play Warframe until something new comes up, maybe Dust 514 port from PS3 which i miss.

Destiny gameplay is so slow and -blam!-ing heavy. It felt like I was moving through water. Also lol'd at "cinematically driven storytelling" for Destiny.

  • Taken King actually has cinematic driven story telling. It's 8 missions but it's still really good and fun. Then side quests open up so you have more shit to finish.

  • I still laugh at people who say Warframe is better. Destiny now is a lot better. Also, a week ago I would have laughed at the story part but now, we can actually say it has a decent story

  • no it isn't, it still has less content than people think it does. the grimoure cards are still a thing (i forgot how it's spelt. pvp is still the worst part of the game for those who don't have TTK DLC which turns it into a P2W which is different in warframe.

My hours in Destiny ... well under 100. I owned the game for less than 2 weeks before I traded it in. It cost me £5 on Amazon so I shouldn't complain but it bored the ever living shit out of me. The only saving grace it had was I got £8 for trading it in. My hours in Warframe ... 896 and i'm still playing. I have every single frame and 90% of the weapons (just missing a few of the syndicate ones and a handful I know i'll never use so didn't bother with) and i've not spent a single penny on it. Got all my plat from trading So, yeah, I find Warframe a lot more entertaining than Destiny.

  • I do know it's not as big as Destiny.

  • Warframe is done by a tiny studio that still managed to get a game on 3 platforms and retain a hell of a lot of players. Destiny is a AAA title with massive financial backing developed by a well known studio with Activisions behind it. Gee, I wonder why it's bigger. Considering Bungie are a well known studio and have been in the business a while they released one hell of a overhyped, pathetic mess. It's taken 3 overpriced DLC for it to start resembling anything close to the game it's fans want yet a lot of other people still think it's shit.

  • Those people probably haven't played the latest DLC. The first two were pretty shit, but TTK has massively improved the game. Nearly everyone who got it saying it's good, at least on my friends list anyway.

  • yes but thats when you have bought it, bungie or activision have taken things out of the game and deliberately made it worse just to force you to buy the TTK dlc

  • TTK is an improvement in terms of the story but in the same moment it destroyed all my collected year 1 weapons. I spent 900+ hours for nothing.

  • Not for nothing. Did you not enjoy the time you spent playing the game?

  • Honestly not. It was more addiction than fun. I constantly felt forced to do something belonging to the way Bungie wants me to play. I felt ruled.

  • I don't own Destiny anymore, won't be getting the DLC for it so can't comment. My brother in law was disappointed though. Said it was yet another couple of hours of "story" missions and he'd finished it.

  • If he just bought it for the story missions, tell him he's a idiot.
